Best news for speedway this week. Will be great to see the Comets back on track and all the best to Andy and the team.12 points

Workington isn’t my team and I don’t particularly care what the issues are. I am however very pleased to see positive signs with the new company being formed and report of bikes being heard on track. I can’t honestly believe any true speedway fan would want a club to go under, even if it’s for no other reason than it’s one less home meeting for the other championship clubs. Hopefully this is a sign things are being resolved and normal service can resume promptly. I look forward to Workington’s visit to Berwick.9 points

It's simple really. Ride speedway and get a job. There is not enough people coming through the gate to class it as a full time job. Reality has to hit with the riders. They've had to good for too long and look where its got us! Year after year one less club. The day they introduced d/u was the finish of speedway. Not only in pandering to the riders, but also the credibility of the sport, but then again there wasn't much credibility left!!!!7 points

I would just like to express my thanks to Glasgow Speedway and the Facenna family for their help and advice given to Andrew and Workington Speedway through what has been a very difficult time.6 points

Think you need to read the statement, comets return with help from allied mobility. So thank you to the owners of Glasgow speedway 👍6 points

With regards the Ipswich RS saga. If a team is allowed to chop & change that position and another team isn’t, that is just wrong. Using your opinion of the people involved to alter this logic is daft. The implementation of rules should be consistent and not subject to how much you like or dislike an individual or team.6 points

Why would he do that when he owns them all. Everything you see at the GT Tyres Arena is the result of one mans vision and his own money. The true personal financial cost to himself has to be a multiple of 6 figures as are the number of hours of physical hands on labour he has invested. Many people wonder why in the current speedway climate would anyone do that and that is a very good question. The answer is simple he loves Speedway. He also takes pride in what he does because that is who he is. He may well tell you himself that paperwork is not his forte but he has taken remedial actioned to make sure this shortcoming does not repeat itself.6 points

Yes it's long overdue, yes the riders are going to cry that can't make it pay, yes the tuners are going to cry, yes the standard will drop but in the long term this will be the only way Speedway will survive in the Uk because it has been unviable for many seasons now, semi pro riders is the way forward, perhaps the only way.6 points

Ecstatic that the comets managed to pull through the issues. Massive thank you and a great amount of gratitude to the Facennas for helping out, hopefully the beginning of a very good partnership. Now everyone get down on Saturday and give Andrew, Steve and the comets the support they deserve. Yes, it hasn’t been made public what the issues have been behind the scenes, but, the people who need to know, know. Less of the name calling about people trying there best to keep the sport in our town and how about getting down and backing the boys. UTC ps where’s 2ndbend123 hiding at now with all his “information”??4 points

I can only speak for myself of course, but I would be happier with 5 man teams and one league. I've never really cared if the top stars are riding, it's not the names that make me watch speedway, it's the atmosphere, noise, chaos and racing. I don't care if it's Bartosz Zmarzlik and Brady Kurtz racing or Simon Lambert and Drew Kemp. You make your own stars of the riders you watch.4 points

Hi IAM sonnys dad ..the reason for sonny retiring is due to a lot off hard work taking it's toll on our family and it stopped being fun for all of us. I was starting work at 5 am getting home at 1900 and working on bikes most nights .until.2300 ..I was lucky that I have a good mechanic for sonny robin cousins who I pay as I have to work shifts as IAM a tanker driver on shell . We also was very lucky we had great engines GODDENS which sonny and Gary drake developed together which paid off .even no we have lots off great sponsors we are down 6000 pounds in costs to us.sonny has only made up to now 1200 pounds we no what most riders get in championship etc .I was told by a good friend that he got 35 per point in national league 10 plus years ago plus tyres and methanol .now we get 15 pounds no tyres no oil no methanol...this is down to the BSPL in my opinion they are killing the sport .I no off 7 other young riders that are going to quit the sport this year .we never expected to make money until he was good enough but didn't expect it to cost me more then riding in youth .I no off some riders dads spending 60000 plus a year to make 3000 ...this has turned into the sport I retired from Motorcross which has ended the same I wish everyone in the sport all the best and it was great once be a part off it but for team springer it's not sustainable..4 points

And it looks like your promotion have been helping save the comets, so thank you allied mobility 👍3 points

🙄🙄 surely the issues the club have had is their business. Just be pleased they are back on track. If anyone were to ask you how much money do you have in the bank or what did the doctor say at your last appointment? I know what you would say. Please just be happy that Workington Speedway has survived, at a particular time when most clubs are struggling..3 points

The RS situation is blatantly two tier. However, even with that dodgy help it doesn't really matter, Lynn won't be in the playoffs. And of course, they will be dumped out of the cup as well on July 17th...😛3 points

Good grief. I only got back from Hospital, 2 hours ago.. Are ya trying to put me back in..... 😃3 points

I don't know about all of this legal stuff, or care tbh. But really glad it's been sorted out. We don't need to lose any club. Especially after all the recent money and effort that has been put in to the new track etc.3 points

I don't know about charm. But i bet there's not a Prem side that wouldn't have him in their team. I certainly would. Emil too.3 points

Christ some of you Lynn fans are a massive bunch of offended wimps. Grow a backbone ffs 🙄 he’s simply mentioned Lynn because you’re the only ones swapping out your rising star on a match by match basis so he rightly mentioning Kings Lynn to make his point! 🙄3 points

Yes. And stop blaming the Poles for our own shortcomings and more importantly stop trying to compete with the Poles, the sport over there is on a completely different level.3 points

It was a poor decision and he knows it, however it was a split second decision. Magic made a mistake and slowed up Emil coming out of the bend, Doyle carried a lot of speed running higher in the dirt line and soon as he straightened up you could see he had a lot of speed and with Emil moving over to give magic room, Doyle had to either get off the throttle completely (which could have been deemed the right decision) or cut back to the inside line to avoid hitting Emil on the straight. I think soon as Doyle came into the corner he thought magic and Emil had more speed and would drift out but they clamped down tight and Doyle just had to try and make the best of a bad judgement call. It was all made from the exit of the bend beforehand, people making out like he just completely dive bombed it which isn’t the case.3 points

Not sure exactly who you mean by "Coventry", but as someone who has spent their whole life around stock car racing, and therefore knowing many people involved at all levels of the sport, I can assure you that those involved in the consortium have more than enough money to bring the stadium back to a decent standard to reopen. It may not have the facilities initially that it had previously, but the backgrounds and businesses of some of them will also assist in the process, with one of them having recently been involved in major construction projects at 2 other oval venues.3 points

Lets get a new thread on the go in anticipation of the return of the Comets and what better way to do it then by welcoming the Reigning Champions Poole Pirates to town! This is sure to be a cracker of a meeting with both sides keen to take home the points and with a new start time of 6pm it gives the Poole fans all day to plan a trip upto our part of the World, and for the Home fans be sure to turn out in force and make some noise for the lads who will thrive on the extra backing! 🔵⚪️©️2 points

A great way to re start the comets season, yes a tough meeting against the pilots of Poole, but they can be beaten. We need to get as many supporters to Northside to cheer on the comets to victory against the pirates 😄2 points

Yes it does matter when they said they were going to give fans a clear and transparent statement.2 points

I fully agree my 14 year old loves the racing but if we lived equal distance from two tracks the only thing that would sway her loyalty is visibility. I buy the star most weeks not once has she even picked one up. She isn’t fussed about supporting a team but she really enjoys following her favourite riders. And guess who they are, the ones with the biggest social media presence. And the ones who bother to come and interact with the crowd after the meeting. If you want to target a new younger audience that’s how you get them.2 points

Yes but with a 11 or 12 team league 2 home 2 away riders would have 40+ meetings.Run over any night of the week.2 points
-
That's an eminently sensible analysis. But it only makes sense in an individual meeting such as the GPs. This was a team event. Ipswich only needed 1 (and a bit) points to secure the victory. JD did not need to get involved with his talented team mate in front. The outcome could have been very serious for numerous competitors including himself. A racing brain would have made a split second decision to hold back.2 points
-
Yes there will be enough riders for the 13 teams in one league. Out of the current teams we'll lose Birmingham, Workington - and Oxford will run with just one team. Spare riders galore then. Obviously some juniors will be in many line-ups. a good learning curve. But each race has just one winner whatever - and the more variety will be attractive for fans.2 points

Its a miracle and went something like this. As Jesus came down the mountain, he was followed by large crowds. 2 Suddenly a man named Craig with Covid[a] came and knelt in front of Jesus. He said, “Lord, you have the power to make me well, if only you wanted to.” 3 Jesus put his hand on the man and said, “I want to! Now you are well.” At once the man's Covid disappeared and the van was loaded and begat his journey to Oxford. 4 Jesus told him, “Don't tell anyone about this, especially the BSPL but go and show the priest that you are well. Then take a gift to the temple just as Moses commanded, and everyone will know that you have been healed.”[b]2 points

I have friends who are Berwick fans that live in Newcastle, this bit is not relevant to anything really but imo Berwick is the best club in British speedway, there is something about the place which is a real club/team/town place, maybe because it’s a small town but places like bedrocks, black and gold and formally the grove and the small beach and shielfield are all part of the spirit of the town, I had a couple of happy years there where I was made to feel like I was one of them, I still make sure I visit at least once a season despite living 250miles away, anyway enough of me reminiscing, come on Workington, speedway needs you2 points
