The superheat is a sort of creeping americanisation of sport in that they simply don't like or do 'ties' - the trouble is they do provide drama and a sudden death jeopardy which the fans at the tracks seem to enjoy. I have seem one and the roar at the end at Foxhall when they secured the superheat v's Peterborough a couple of years back was huge. The problem is everyone wants their promoters and and the sport to innovate and move foward and appeal to the non diehards - there are always so many threads dedicated to what can be done to 'save' speedway and here is an innovation that certainly seems to be well received on the terraces, rather liike the playoffs and everyone seems dead against it on here. In football terms i always felt a well ground out away point was often a great reward, draws in speedway and other sports don't actually happen too often - personally i wouldnt have introduced it but i can see and understand why they have.3 points

I hope Poole never come back to the top league so I donāt have to read ridiculous comments like this every week.3 points

Every club has different costs based on a number of issues - not least whether they own their stadium/track or not - so its a pointless to compare income/expenditure based on attendances. Poole are also running a 50/50 draw this season for the air fence fund.3 points

Wow you do write so much garbage Klindt loves the Poole track ⦠10 from 4 and 12 from 5 last season Nicholls scored 6 from 5 in the cup final but loves Poole lol Decent win??? By 6?? Against a team with 2 weak reserves and getting an injured heat leader during the meeting after 1 ride to be replaced by average reserves Poole are struggling ⦠Glasgow and Redcar must be licking their lips ā¦. Glasgow to finish top and Poole to face Redcar in the semis2 points

Just got back and a decent win but the track tonight was frankly rubbish. Underwatered, hardly any passing and plenty of races spread out. Gate 4 was the place to be if the rider was brave enough to blast around the outside. It was a packed out Wimborne Road which is great to see. So many come along to watch the Pirates. Just a shame the show put on is just not good enough. Track needs a big makeover, no doubt about it. As for Plymouth, weāll take a bow Dan Thompson. Did more than a good enough job and probably scored quite a few more points than Klindt would have managed. Backed up by Scotty Nicholls who loves Wimborne Road and it was always going to be close. Frederikson backed them up and with a few Poole riders far from their best, it turned out as I expected. Hope Ben Barker hasnāt broken anything. It was a nasty tumble while under severe pressure from Anders Rowe. He lifted entering the third bend, looked to be heading for the fence, over corrected and ended up flying over the handlebars exiting the fourth bend. For Poole Lawson was his usual excellent self. Tobias poor, Kerr let a silly third place go on the last bend when not concentrating, Cook poor never looked like winning a heat and looked like he was standing still when Nicholls passed him, Rowe tried but not got the form of earlier this season. Starke did his job, and Cairns showed good form until his last ride when he was completely asleep at the tapes. We really do need to step up our form, but at the same time we are still winning. The track needs attention though, sooner rather than later.2 points

I'm speechless but so proud. What an unbelievable effort by the Gladiators. Let's not lose sight of the fact they were without Alfie Bowtell to start with. Ben having to withdraw very early into the meeting but they kept going and showed unreal fight for the badge. To push a full strength Pirates side that close at home, something we haven't done for a very long time shows just how good a group this side is. It's going to be some night at Plymouth on Saturday where crowds have been big and loud all season. It's kids fancy dress night too so expecting a good atmosphere. Guest choices for Plymouth will be key here but what an opportunity in front of them to get another 3pts. The playoffs might be a long way off but there's life in their chances for sure. Looking forward to covering this one on Gladiators TV, hope those who can't make it enjoy our coverage of what should be a cracking night of speedway - as it has been so many times in Plymouth this year already2 points

Why is the Oxford track always so slick and dusty? It seems to me the water truck is woefully inadequate in putting enough water down at a time. a Scunthorpe sized water truck would be much more effective in my opinion. I know they are limited to when they can have access to the track but with a better water truck the track could be soaked far earlier2 points

I don't often feel I need to stand up for SCB, but, in this case I do. If they don't implement the regulations they get rightly criticised, but when they do pull up a transgression they still get criticised. Perhaps for next season we could have an asterisk beside regulations that are discretionary.2 points

Grow up SCB. Some people take everything in life far too serious these days.2 points

Now we need riders blindfolded with hessian sacks on their heads, with buxom milk maids in pigtail wigs, stood on each corner shouting "Left! Left! Left!" when they ride past.. Could really catch on this.... And, more importantly... Add some much needed credibility to the operating model!!!....2 points

Yeah, but the reason it's like that is that the people who make the rules only think as far as the end of their nose, not the possible implications because I bet they didn't even realise the point you're making!2 points

You donāt like follow the leader races? When Dan T beat Kurtz was that not a good race to watch? When Doyle cleverly kept Kurtz behind him was that not a good race either? Or do they only become good races if Kurtz would have got through? Heat 14 was a case in point with Zach getting through on the last corner ⦠wasnāt a good race until the last corner but need you will be saying it was a better race than the superheatā¦. You donāt always need overtaking to make a good race2 points

I use to live near Stuart and a few years ago my ex organised him to attend an Itās a knockout event, at her school! A while after a friend of hers bought her a lovely painting of some giraffes. I came home, admired the picture then noticed the artists signature. It was Rolf Harris! Like I say sheās my ex so I dodged the conversation when asking how the kids are, āTheyāre fine, Gary Glitter has taken them to the Jimmy Salville appreciation society where Rolf Harris is doing portraits.ā2 points

I tell you what I would like to see in say a cup final rather than asuper heat etc - would be a 1-7 ride off against each opposite number - so an extra 7 races with the result being award as 1-0 per race - rather than just a sudden one race winner takes all that way its a fairer representation of the teams, perhaps even just do 1 lap like the old one lap dashes from the late 80s they had in the 2nd halves! ok you can all say its a cr@p idea now!2 points

More likely the top league coming to Poole - with their begging bowl out!!2 points

All clubs should look at different ways to increase their profits. Maybe Poole is more expensive to run than some other clubs so it needs the extra gate money to sustain the business.2 points
-
Porky has always commented on the last lap of the final race. He likes to give it some drama. He is one of the best in the business.2 points

Personally I would like to see all the teams riders dressed as giants and do an obstacle course,, just like it's a knockout used to do,,, now that was entertainment2 points
-
I agree with much of what has been said. Nothing wrong with a draw. Itās just a gimmick that needs to end up in the bin with the likes of six lap races and double points for tactical rides.2 points
-
I think it's great, creates interest and chatter, such s this thread and you get an extra race, what's not to like!2 points
-
Why ? The SCB don't seem to be interested in a major safety issue at Poole last week,2 points
-
Don`t care about play offs, don`t care about Championships, or winning, trophies, don`t care about how crap the track was and is, don`t care about how many times we have to watch the tractor going round and round and around doing absolutely nothing. Its about one thing for me and one thing only. Free car parking.𤣠Nothing else matters.2 points

I don't see the need for it. If a meeting ends in a draw then it's already been an exciting end to the meeting with a lady heat decider. While some say it's extra value for money for fans & an extra heat to watch. That's not something fans can plan for, a fan on the fence about whether they go to watch a match, isn't going to day "you know what, let's go incase we get an extra race for our money". I just don't see what's wrong with a drawn meeting!2 points

Itās a silly concept ⦠Ipswich deserved a draw last night and so did Belle Vue for battling back2 points

Iād tend to agree. I think at foxhall Ellis is far stronger than his poor away outings. He tends to throw it on the outside at Foxhall more than anywhere else if he is behind.1 point

Don't tempt them at the A.G,M. You might get more than you bargain for.1 point

What about the 2 captains do that spinning the log thing in water with their feet, trying to get the other one off,, could keep it speedway related by them having to wear steel shoes and having to wear a 70s monkey mask1 point

Just 0.09 between Adam and Dan in the rolling averages If desired it is very much in the clubs hands to choose who is at reserve for September They would (or should) know what scores will be dropping out of the 20 meeting sample for each rider and therefore the swing required in the upcoming matches for a switch to happen We know it is done - Leicester did exactly that to keep RR for Becker in the 2nd position therefore allowing Fricke to still take an extra ride1 point

I think Darryl has already shown he's better than a 2 point rider, but obviously no harm in reminding promoters of that. But that's also the main reason he didn't get a new club, he no longer has a 2.00 average. Riding exactly 6 matches for Poole then getting replaced was the worst thing that could've happened to him, rode himself out of a team spot.1 point

I see Nick Morris is going to be on a very attractive average for next year now. His 8.8 average must have been a majority of good scores for Leicester (I think) in 2022 & a handful of disappointing scores for Birmingham in 2023 before his ban. Now all his 2022 scores have been dropped his rolling ave will consist of just his 2023 & 2025 meetings, currently 6.2ish. While I wasn't in favour of his signing, Berwick were obviously happy to overlook any "previous" so would be daft not to sign him up for next year ASAP.1 point

It has been proposed before, by myself and others, that the riders in Heat 15 would not be eligible for a Super Heat. That would negate a 2 x Big Guns team's advantage.1 point

Thank God the people of Oxford didn't have your attitude. Oxford's success pretty much proves every single point you made as utter nonsense.1 point

Thereās little or no affiliation by riders to clubs. A quick look on Wikipedia at two Bees stars⦠Nigel Boocock, eight clubs, four of which in the latter days winding down his career. Chris Harris, 29 clubs, 16 UK, 13 Overseas. (this post is NOT about guest bookings!) My first years at Brandon, the riders were all locally-based, the furthest away were Ron and Rick in the Black Country! Fans identified with the riders, they identified with the clubs. Thatās all gone now. Fly in, ride, fly out to ride for someone else.1 point
