Mustn’t need the time to commercially promote the play off’s this season 😜3 points

I agree. I've just come back from a weekend there. One of the most striking differences is the age profile of the crowd - but also that the older generation also join in with the chanting and scarf waving. Was the racing at the league match better than here? Probably not3 points

I remember when I first starting reading programmes as a kid, and when looking at the fixture list "RESERVED" pretty much filled up October except for the BLRC. . Didn't understand the reasons .. Obviously as you got older, you could see the reasons given the end of October was cut off... 18 teams in the league, plus a full Belle Vue Colts season, up to five KO Cup matches at home a Northern Trophy featuring Sheffield,Halifax and Hull, an annual John Player individual, and the BLRC .. And all done without fixed race nights to help ensure all riders were there, with some riding in the National League as well as the British League for different teams. (Many teams had at least one rider).... Oxford this season have ran 29 home matches... Maybe the last two weeks of September should be play off time, with "RESERVED" being put in for the first two weeks worth of Monday and Thursdays...?2 points

Nonsense to say a 'small minority' ran on Saturday! Off hand, l can think of Belle Vue, Cradley, Berwick, Coventry, Swindon, Canterbury, King's Lynn, Edinburgh/Coatbridge... and l think l've probably missed a couple more.2 points

Can't just think about one club blue, speedway as a sport is going down the pan, everybody needs to widen their outlook and consider the wellbeing of all clubs2 points

The under 24 league in Poland from what I was told will now be mainly really young junior riders with little points money as the teams can’t afford to pay the money to riders riding in near empty stadiums in that league2 points

Well the BSN series and playoffs will be on BSN. I assume the KO cup final will also be on BSN because Poole tv said during the Glasgow KO cup meeting it would be their final stream of the season.2 points

I am all for generating noise and atmosphere, the problem for Foxhall is the vast space, thr air horn ban and the fact it noise will just disappear into the air unless lots join in. I quite like presenter and his antics - he's got a decent sense of humour. Oddly one the best noises was the other week when the Witches secured that 5-1 in heat 13 V's Belle Vue with Emil splitting and passing the Aces pair - huge cheers etc which where spontaneous and it could certainly be heard. There was also another guy who filled in for Kevin when he was away - can't recall his name but he was good too!2 points

It would probably help if Mr Morris was in attendance at both of these meetings to ensure there's no faffing about, as when he's present at these doubtful Speedway meetings they seem to have an uncanny knack of actually going ahead!2 points

Speedway in Poland is the complete opposite of the uk. It’s a proper professional sport that brings in crowds sponsors & tv money. No Micky mouse rules guest feats etc. It allows a proper connection between the team & the supporters giving the tribal aspect. This leads to the chanting & people wanting to wear the club scarfs etc Its everything uk speedway should be.2 points

Also confirmed in the raceday guide that the Witches finish top of the Premiership, so will face Belle Vue in the first Play-Off Semi-Final ... Monday, 8th at the NSS and Thursday, 11th at Foxhall.1 point

Who made that decision? You'd think it would benefit both clubs to race it at Scunthorpe? Scunthorpe fans may turn up in greater numbers for one more chance to see Speedway at home before the winter break!1 point

That definitely needs to be looked at. Yes it’s unfortunate to have rain offs right at the death, but it is now September and there’s always the chance the weather takes a turn for the worst. They need to leave a two week gap in future, between the final set of fixtures, and the start of the playoffs offs to allow clubs time to rearrange postponed fixtures.1 point

No prize fund for the Comp in 2025. There was in 2024. So he is basically talking rubbish.1 point

Top tier, seven clubs (Glasgow), five rider teams, no make weights, all over a 4.5pt average... Just 35 riders needed so plenty of replacements out there to cover injury and poor performance, so no guests needed.. Follow the Danish race night system of 14 heats.. Home and away once, with play offs.... The same seven teams also compete in the 2nd tier with six riders per team, riding on any night they wish, with the top riders included if they want to race over here... It may end up guestfest after guestfest, meaning it wouldn't be any different from now, the difference being it will be done on the best nights to get a crowd in... 14 teams, if Oxford only run Prem, one home and one away plus play offs. The top tier teams would have 19 matches, plus any play offs..1 point

At 3:30pm I am in Sheffield 6, same area as the stadium. At present the sun is out and pavements and roads are dry, no signs of any puddles, which generally a good sign. I am cautiously optimistic that we have a meeting to go to.1 point

lol the championship has been a shambles this year with so many important fixtures still left to race and riders being signed even though they are missing every other week eg bowes nagel knudsen gusts klindt whatever happens in the winter everyone needs to work together to solve british speedway problems1 point

The 'Massif' made a big attempt to generate some noise and atmosphere at Foxhall Whilst acknowledged and appreciated by The Presenter very few others showed much enthusiasm and indeed I feel some actively disapproved I haven't been for quite some time now so that element is no longer subjected to my Cowbell and megaphone1 point

It’s absolutely pointless comparing it to football. We don’t have the following, certainly in this country, to keep people interested in 2 home meetings a month. Football has millions of fans in the country, speedway be lucky if there’s 10% of that amount of people who attend regularly. If it is one big league, then the clubs and bspa need to lay down the law to the riders. If you signed for a British club before anyone else, then that league takes priority. I get Poland pays the big bucks, but it’s about time someone put them back in there box. They tried being sly a few years back and that soon got overruled. If not, it’s simple, the riders who want to ride over here will, the ones who don’t, well, see ya later. With the polish u24 league not running after this season, there’s going to be a lot of young riders wanting spots over here, a select few may find themselves riding in the second or third division over there. A rotation of a week at home and a week away wouldn’t wash with me. I want to see weekly action at my home track, I’ve known people lose interest because there was a 2 or 3 week gap between meetings. And before anyone says about going away, try going to a midweek track, when my nearest is 2 and a half hours away, working full time and having a family.1 point

This seems good - I much prefer people who qualify for the series than wildcards.1 point

Some of us are certainly NOT "we are the peepul" , although probably about 80% of Glasgow fans are1 point

the not enough riders are a myth, there are plenty willing to ride over here but sometimes i dont think these clubs make an effort, there is 2 riders that i know of that want to come over and they made clubs aware but nobody made any effort to get them over, how many more riders out there are like that the danes for starters are strongly advised to race uk in there early years also making it 5/6 man teams would allow for less double uppers, it was only a few weeks ago that you had wright racing for oxford then the next night or maybe a couple of nights later hes racing for his redcar team against oxford, crazy and makes the sport look amateurish1 point

Yes, agree with you there. The tribal thing with team and supporter connection is fundamental to working class sports such as football. That level of passion will never be witnessed currently in British speedway which relies (due to rider shortage) on guests and doubling up, thus diluting the rider/team connection.1 point

To be honest there isn’t any option now. To few riders to little investment over many years, no real development programme & to few opportunities to ride. The sport has gone to far down the road to failure to turn around now.1 point

"Could" is the key word. It could be that the Champions have already been decided, and this is just another match ... I'm not a fan of the play-offs, but they very often do lead to a 15-heat shootout for the League title, which does create excitement and some degree of interest.1 point

Is that the ‘we are the people’s champions’ or does that risk alienating half the fanbase 😉1 point

1. More meetings at home, more income. 2. The proof is in the riders who are owed money, ( a rider I sponsor is one such individual ) and one of which has already gone public via internet posts . However, they ( thats more than one ) have been assured they will get paid , sometime. Riders should be allowed to withhold their service , without threat of suspension, if not paid within a set time period. Too many examples over the years of this sort of thing. Lets hope its just a hick-up this time.1 point

Here's a thought:- what if clubs could only have the second leg in semis and finals, if there was some form of live stream coverage.1 point

Just want to say to Kings Lynn and their fans thanks for a great evening. The racing was great and the atmosphere was very friendly. I think that if K.L. could have riden like that all season then the top four could have looked different. As a sheffield supporter I'm glad I made the trip. I left Sheffield in rain of biblical proportions and wondered if it would be awaste fo fuel, but it certanly wasn't. On a final note it was so pleaseing to see the Tigers on tour / Bend 2 Barmy Army group get a round of applause as they left the stadiun from a group of K.L. fans on the first bend. This is how it should be. I have loved coming down to kings Lynn ever since I was on the spanners for Adam Allott and Kev Doolan. All the best for next year ( except when Sheffierld arer in toun).1 point

Championship definitely needs more meetings imo. Worky recently had a run of weekly home meetings and the crowd held up well even with holidays and the usual many summer attractions in the area. It was good to talk about who is it next week rather than having a gap of 3-4 weeks without a home fixture. Need to change the current model it has stagnated and proved detrimental to British Speedway for too long now.1 point

Clubs losing money need to seriously look in the mirror, Plymouth who are hardly world beaters and have a very limited track and space have upped their crowds considerably by the looks of it through some savvy work on social media etc. Granted in some cases things can’t be avoided but I absolutely think there would be a lot to be said for promotions being less insular and less of the ‘woe is me’ attitude.1 point
