As much I praise my club for putting out a statement committing themselves to the premiership, I really struggle to see what actually is the premiership. As it stands it's Leicester, Belle Vue, Kings Lynn. Being commited to that is something I am not looking forward to. If we can add Ipswich and Sheffield to the mix we're getting somewhere, but as of now we have no idea what's going on. I'm just so frustrated that every single fan has seen this coming, for years in fact. We all knew Birmingham would shut soon, we all knew that Oxford would drop the premiership but it's almost like the powers at be are surprised! The idiots that run this sport have clearly been living in fantasy world and haven't been prepared for this situation at all. It's embarrassing and complete chaos.7 points

Well I think it’s a solid team, the 5 younger lads in the team are all on the up so should be worth watching. Hell even I might go and watch occasionally!6 points

In terms of what I'd prefer, definitely an exciting team. Winning is nice, but entertain me first. An exciting team is usually competitive at least.5 points

It’s the same company that leases Foxhall stadium off the owners. You only have to look at the work done on the heath to see that Spedeworth under Dean Wood is a decent promotion to do business with. It does show the major issues the sport has when for years a speedway stadium Eastbourne won’t allow speedway to be ran there even the the owners are a speedway family. Couple that with Louis a guy who bleeds speedway getting out tells you all you need to know.5 points

It's quite unfathomable that something that has been proven over the years to not work (and that was with a TV deal) and gotten us to the place that we are today... is something that they're striving (to ridiculous fantasy proportions) to keep!4 points

The NPPF isn’t a statute in itself, but it is a material consideration in planning decisions and carries real weight. Local Plans sit underneath it, and the Local Plan is legally binding policy once adopted. In Peterborough’s case, Speedway/Showground protection exists in both national policy and the adopted Local Plan, which is a very different position to somewhere like Coventry. Coventry’s situation was complicated because of the long period without activity, gaps in their local policy wording, and the way the stadium and land were allowed to deteriorate while decisions dragged on. It wasn’t a simple case of “the NPPF was ignored” – it was a mix of timing, inactivity and local circumstances. It’s true that the draft new Local Plan is expected to remove the Speedway/Showground protections, but the current plan remains legally binding until a new one is formally adopted. A draft plan doesn’t override anything. Even if the new plan proposes removing the protections, that isn’t automatic — it still has to go through consultation, objections and an independent Planning Inspector, who can (and often does) reinstate policies if the council can’t justify removing them. And even looking ahead to 2026, it’s not a hard deadline. Protections don’t suddenly disappear — the existing Local Plan remains in force until the new one is actually adopted, and the examination process can run well beyond 2026. So the current policies remain usable for far longer than the headline dates suggest. Whether anything ends up in court is impossible to predict, but the core point remains: the protections exist, they carry weight, and they haven’t disappeared simply because the landowner or a headline prefers another outcome.4 points

Competitiveness comes from teams of equal(ish) strength of course, not having a smattering of "world class" riders in the league. There's a "not enough riders" agenda whenever anyone mentions one league. The reality is that there are not enough riders of a suitable quality. It's not the same as there not being enough full stop. There are also not enough of these "world class" names to go around the top league in its current form. Hence having whipping boys like Birmingham and Oxford last season. The sport here wants to operate at a standard it can't sustain ultimately. A five team league is a horrible idea. It would be far, far too repetitive if the sides were to race a meaningful number of fixtures and then they'd probably still want to have play offs. Regardless of the quality of riders who might compete it would still be over exposure. Variety versus competitiveness has a sweet spot that it is probably impossible for British Speedway to meet in 2026, for me variety is more likely to make me go to meetings than seeing slightly better opposition but knowing they'll be coming to town again in a couple of weeks. And then again a couple of weeks after that. I suspect I'm not in the minority by having that opinion.3 points

Glasgow aren’t just being smart business wise for their own benefit either, losing them would affect all the northern clubs. Glasgow bring a big following to Berwick for sure and I’m sure they take it to the other northern venues too, they’d also lose virtually all the away support they get at Ashfield. It would be a lose lose situation for those with the most at stake. There is nothing “brave” about what the teams in the Premiership are doing, it’s business suicide for most, you just need to look at recent history.3 points

I would be pretty happy with that team,strongest reserve pairing in the league maybe not as strong at the top end with Jake Allen but I think a lot of teams will be weaker there with these new rules. think those reserves could win you matches and worse case scenario one moves up then Mulford going to reserve would arguably be the strongest reserve in the league.2 points

The way British riders are signing for European clubs it could well end up where you have the tracks but not enough riders. You cannot blame any rider looking elsewhere as they have to put themselves first and they need to know their income stream to cover costs, mechanics and line up sponsors etc none of which can wait until the eve of a new season. The delay in finalising arrangements in the Premiership is damaging the sport on so many levels and has wide ranging implications for riders, sponsors, team set up and for clubs who rent the stadia, what can they tell the owners? These landlords will have budgets and cashflow forecasts to complete and part of that is needing to know what the revenue stream will be. If speedway teams cannot declare than the stadia owners may well look elsewhere. Short track is doing very well in Australia and it would not be beyond the realms of possibility to introduce team racing or other two and four wheeled sports filling the void caused by the Premiership teams If only the fools in charge realised how their actions seriously undermine every aspect of the sport but they are so insular in their thinking and the rest of the business world which is materially affected by these delays etc. is lost on the BSPL2 points

' I'm curious as to which would Tigers fans prefer - an exciting, entertaining side or a winning side? I'm only asking because i've seen many exciting sides win nothing and many unexciting sides win silverware. And what does 'exciting' really mean in the context of speedway because sometimes entire meetings can produce 14 heats of unexciting action and then throw up a 'heat of the season' and turn a meeting on its head. I tend to find speedway exciting regardless of whether or not there are lots of overtakes, spills and close results, so personally i'd rather see a winning team than "pure excitement". The same goes for the football where most matches are rather boring affairs these days but it just takes one goal to send me home happy. I know an exciting team can also be a winning team but i'd take a winning team, no matter how exciting/bland, any day of the week,2 points

Perhaps you can explain how Cami has messed things up in the past when it comes to winning trophies? Yes he has appeared to have made some mistakes in some matches but fans don't know why decisions were made at the time. Also fans have the benefit of hindsight. However these were in what you might call qualifying meetings. I can't think of any final or semi final where he has made a 'mistake' that cost us a trophy. So please enlighten us or are you just another armchair troll?2 points

As I said Beau isn't doing UK! he is only doing Poland and Denmark for 2026. It was a tough decision for him to turn down Poole's offer but what he has chosen suits him for now. He will be over at some point in the next year or so. The last 3 are signed and sealed and all will be announced by Christmas.2 points

1,000,000% that 👆! Not one of them had the foresight to have any kind of plan in place as to what to do if/when the tv deal came to an end. The remaining PL promoters are in a state of complete denial. The desperation shown in trying to get a 6th club has been beyond embarrassing. There's been absolutely no leadership from the top, with 2 of them jumping the burning ship.2 points

Entertainment wise? I would suggest with Glasgow, Scunthorpe, Redcar, and Workington, the second tier, overall, delivers better racing... With, the NSS being the only top tier track that consistently delivers a similar standard...2 points

No way would any proper speedway fan not care if another team had to close……but I can certainly understand why no Championship supporter would want their league or team compromised to protect a league that was failing through no fault of theirs.2 points

If you look at his rider stats at Poole Stadium going back to 2021 he has really only been a 4 point rider. One meeting last year was 5 points. You would ideally want a rider who performs better at Poole over such a period. Having said that none of the riders on his kind of av have does a lot points wise at Poole. Not an easy one but that said its guess work anyway without knowing the Cook situation and what would be available.1 point

Can’t fault the efforts of anyone trying to get speedway back at the Showground but it’s turned out two years wasted if the end result was always going to be a new home - it’s very sad situation speedway could have continued the last two seasons and had there been more enthusiasm from Chapman who knows what could have happened . Hopefully a new site can be found but not sure where the money is coming from to fund it on what is a 1000 fans1 point

I think the Speedway Star has actually improved its output in the past 12 months or so... Given the internet makes many stories "old news" for a once a week magazine, they have increased features and interviews with not just riders and promoters but others within the sport... It also often brings detail to what gets said on here, eg a rider riding for a certain team, they will have the reasons behind the move. . Well worth £3.60 a week for a hard copy. .1 point

Surely it should be the end of season figures we should be looking at? Seven out of the nine CL teams ended with a total average above the 40 limit, so starting next season on 40 means it is weaker?1 point
