Could still be the "Mother" of all 4 Team Tournaments ahead then? 12 meetings at home for each of the four teams.. Five riders per team, which includes a reserve.. With, to add variety, the teams change helmet colours meeting by meeting.. ie, over the first segment of four matches, the home teams start with Red, but by their fourth meeting at home, they are riding in Yellow, having gone through Blue and White in the second and third matches at their track... This means every team has equal gate positions over a 48 match season.. Sounds exciting I know, but, even better than that. The top four qualify for a Final held at every track... With the top team over the season starting the final with three points, second two and third with one.. (Otherwise all the Qualifiers could be seen as meaningless if no reward for finishing top, and we wouldn't want that would we?) Sounds good doesn't it? Loads of meeting for riders... Loads of exciting helmet colour changes for the fans to follow.. Three lots of away fans at each venue (maybe even double figure numbers attending from at least one of them), and possibly a taxi full from the other two tracks, (not a seven seater one obviously).. And, (and this is the winner for me), you can flog "Quarter n Quarter n Quarter n Quarter" scarves, so lots of merchandising opportunities.. Charge around thirty quid a ticket, running on those hotbed of entertainment nights of Monday and Thursday, plus, (most importantly of all of course, riders can still then double up), and, I think we can all agree, the sport would be on to a winning formula... Maybe they could get a betting company involved to sponsor the league and, every meeting, they could run a book on "Who will Bomber ride for tonight?".. It could be a bit like the Masked Singer, whereby he stands on the centre green in a Wulf Sport Jacket, and the crowd shout "Take It Off! Take It Off'!, and as the crowd reach fever pitch he unzips the jacket to reveal his kevlars... Imagine the scenes?..... Making Speedway Great Again.. Ho! Ho! Ho! Happy Christmas All... It’s a time for miracles so lets hope those in charge can come up with one now, and a few more over the next few seasons..6 points

A year at Lynn for Max, to get his average back down, before coming back "home" to Leicester next year 😁4 points

Maybe there's a place for him at Speedway Futures Ltd... with the rest of the wrong'uns 🤷♂️3 points

I find it hard to believe there’s no place for Perry in the championship. If he doesn’t get a place there must be more to it than his performance. He is a kid with potential who I’d hoped to see at Berwick. Maybe he is asking for whatever Glasgow gave him.3 points

Nora doesn’t have a format for any meetings, it is only really the same as acu, it has no say in how a meeting is run, it’s basically a licence and insurance company, they are cheaper and some would say less complicated than the ACU and you find more and more disciplines are turning to Nora because of the incompetence and the price of the ACU3 points

What about the Bournemouth Buccaneers? Was that not a Poole junior team that ended up losing a shed load of money? Poole then made the decision to concentrate on what they’re good at, which was to pay for developed talent, which was undoubtedly good business for lower and same league teams. This route is sadly now lost due to the unnecessary (in my view) collapse of the retained list system. Anyway, can we move on from All our Yesterdays and get back to Poole 20262 points

Four and an individual. Plus years of Young Stars/Boston/Norfolk Braves up to 2016. And training schools, practice sessions etc. You Poole folk really should do your research before trapping off and looking daft.2 points

As I said, Cool heads were needed because every day is different. British Speedway isn't British Speedway without fans being left frustrated. Merry Christmas everyone.2 points

I'd be surprised, but If it is anything to do with Buster, my guess is that it would be a short term deal of some sort to help the Prem run in 26. He was supposed to be winding down 2 years ago.2 points

Yes it was a nora meeting, I thought it was great. Heat 13 Lowest scorers from the meeting up to that point, heat 14 middle highest scorers, Heat 15 Top Scorers. 6 rider teams.1 point

Will the last singing signing be an up and coming youngster like Benson Boone or a wily old campaigner like Barry Manilow1 point

No, would be 0.03 over the limit I believe. Cook, Luke Harrison and Max Perry would have come to exactly 40.00 if that was the combo Harrison signed for Scunthorpe though, so can't see how Max Perry will start the season anywhere now1 point

Good option given what’s left in GB on that sort of average.Hope he chooses agood one .!!1 point

This was going to be my exact response! Afford it? Considering that’s been the plan for the first 2 seasons back at championship level with a 3/3 hit rate of 5 point riders I don’t see why it would be a problem.1 point

I think if Cook does sign and he is committed it’s a battle between him and JJ to no1. As good has Batch has been in the past he isn’t at that standard now.1 point

I suspect as well as doing it to keep the Prem ticking over he'd be looking to make a bit of money, and he wouldn't be running the show just as he doesn’t at Lynn. Would be very surprised if its him though.1 point

If Buster is involved in buying the club then sorry but for me Louis has failed the club, I feel let down by the poor media information given from the club as well during this period. Bitter taste in my mouth after such a great season, tarnished a legacy is a sad comment to make but it’s starting to really feel that way for me.1 point

He was definitely the “back up” option for the league to continue with a five team league. Desperate times call for desperate measures! As above. He wouldn’t normally have gone near it. In his own words when he “agreed” to buy Ipswich last time.. ”I don’t like Ipswich” Great sales pitch that was to the Ipswich fans when the news broke on the official website 🙄 Hopefully it’s someone else. Merry Christmas.1 point

Thats a daft statement to make he was a deserving world champion he scored the most points over the series You can take away some of Rickardssons titles then when he would have gate 1 followed by gate 1 and then gate one and then first pick1 point

No, I think it's more about riders progressing from one team to the other as it's less of a jump. This may encourage fans to watch both.1 point

I get the above but apart from preferring hard printed copies of any magazine, digital versions aren't an option for me. Internet speeds are so random in these parts: I've watched live content of podcasts & such from Aussie, USA, Russia no probs at all, other times can take 5 or even 10 hours for an email to cross town. Likely cos while fibre optic is slowly being rolled out half the network connections are still copper cable, means BSN isn't an option either....1 point

And it is that ignoring "the inevitably" rather than embracing it and planning for it, that is the most frustrating thing for many fans... As soon as 20 teams got hit then I would suggest "one league" should have been the plan.. One season in the planning of it, and then a complete reset and relaunch of the sport... With the aim of every team being competitive for the restart of the sport... Maybe they will do it in 2026 for 2027?...1 point

The nine championship teams finished this season with a total average of 377.61. It’s been well documented that the five premiership teams aren’t bringing any riders with them as the top liners would skip the UK and the rest are already riding in the championship. To fill those 35 vacant spots would require using new (to the championship) NDL riders who average around 2.50, so thats a total of 87.50 to add to the pot. 465.11 divided by the 14 one big league teams gives a team total of 33.22. To create some kind of bargaining power when negotiating rider terms the limit would be set lower than that and most probably be around 30. Would championship clubs have wanted to water down their teams just to accommodate the ex premiership teams and how would they have felt letting riders whom they had agreed a verbal contract that there was no longer a place for them? The option of five or six man teams doesn’t sugar the pill either. Once you understand that one big league is unworkable with just 3/4 months to sort it out then the only alternative is what we have. Digging your feet in and saying I’m not supporting that doesn’t help whatsoever but then this has been going on for decades. Me, I’m just happy to enjoy that sixty seconds of excitement and I’m not bothered about the score nor what the competition is just that race, wether it’s U16, NDL, Aces or GP’s at the NSS.1 point
