Should not be allowed Guests or R/R for riders missing due to other riding commitments for starters. That might changes Promoters mindset on who they sign.9 points

And if they cannot double up they may retire... Of course they will.... How did the sport continue for probably 90 years of its 100 without D/Uing being so prevelant, why didn't riders with "only" one team to ride for, retire for the first 90 years of the sport? It is quoted that one "big" league couldn't happen as there simply isn't enough riders, yet, there is also a stated desire to bring back those tracks that have been lost over the past decade, and also to open up new ones... Hello!!! I think I have spotted a flaw in the cunning plan!!!....3 points

Fully agree, covering injuries or illness is one thing but a rider having somewhere better to be is not ok it’s outright disrespectful to the people who pay their money week in week out.2 points

One must only assume that the riders named on here that are not “ fixed up “ have a secret verbal agreement in place with “Ed?” Pending formal approval of purchase of the tractor air fence and starting gate and some brooms .2 points

Went to a restaurant once and saw "Oasis Soup" on the menu. Asked the waiter what it was. He said "you get a roll with it" 🤭2 points

The flashing light doesn't work on the tractor... I wonder if the new owners are aware of this?1 point

My favourite quote from the article.... "Living out here is a lot easier than I thought. Obviously, as a stereotype, you associate Argentina with just eating cows and stuff like that" 🤣🤣1 point

And people wonder why so many riders have called it quits over the last few years....1 point

I don’t think anyone can really begrudge the lad a reduction. He’s a young British lad that will more than likely be froze out the sport otherwise! Anyway he might not be in the team after all!1 point

It’s hard to go to the riders and say we need to cut your income, inflation impacts them as well, we’re going to be a lot smarter as promoters😂I haven’t gone to the riders and said this is how it’s going to be because we have lost a media contract, a rider still needs to earn a living. The words at the very top table of speedways think tank. Translated means it’s ok riders the paying public will foot the shortfall. Absolutely clueless from mike melon1 point

Sad news. George Barclay has died at the age of 90. He began his speedway career quite late in life at the age of 31 in 1967, making his debut for my team, West Ham. I got to know him very well after he had retired when I worked with him in the early days of the Speedway Museum in Paradise Wildlife Park. He put a tremendous amount of work into it and it was due to him and his wife Linda, along with Pete Sampson, that it happened at all, going on to become the success it has undoubtedly become today. In addition, as his nickname said, he was a true gentleman. R.I.P. George and thank you.1 point

They are the kind of riders who should never have been allowed to sign based on other commitments.1 point

Could argue Gusts and Knudsen were on the sidelines last year as well the amount of meetings they missed1 point

As far as I know, it came as a surprise to Kevin Boothby, as I don’t believe it was his decision, but the speculation around finances must be a worry that could affect the future of Oxford.1 point

The only reason dad's army won that year is you had a group of previous top line riders but they were all at least a decade past their peak but were still good enough to pull it off as the quality of the league in general that year was probably the worst in top flight history.1 point

Blimey the lad isn't even in the country and he's being criticised, give him a break. Many years ago there was a couple of young lads from New Zealand who spent a lot of time hitting the deck or the fence, remember some other riders wanted them banned. Briggs and Mauger were their names, i often wonder how their careers panned out.1 point

I have counted 14 riders (including R/S’s) in declared Premiership line ups who will be doubling up/down in 2026. There are still 14 Premiership places to be filled, so a good few still to be added. Even more if the sixth team materialises. How can speedway in this country cope without doubling up/down? Also, how could one league work if another 15/20 riders had to be found?1 point
