It’s all explained in yesterday’s article. They planned to use Kennett while the uncertainty around Bangs continued. They were less than impressed when a scheduled practice session after Thursdays meeting didn’t materialise when Kennett didn’t bother turning up so quite rightly binned the idea. They then booked Mulford as a guest for Thursdays meeting under the impression that Bangs would still be unavailable. That changed literally yesterday when Bangs himself is quoted as saying he only received the paperwork from Doctors to resume racing yesterday I have been working really, really hard to get some papers from the doctors to allow me to get started as soon as possible. I got that today, and now I am ready.” What have they actually done wrong here? I agree it’s an unusual set of circumstances, but circumstance it is. People are being overly critical and typical of this forum, overreacting to trivial matters.

Was really looking forward to this weekend, but no Bewley has taken the shine off it for me and probably lots of others. Been the most entertaining rider around this year and will be hugely missed.

I guess you didn’t attend the Witches media day and just want to be another keyboard warrior without any info backing it up. Many Ipswich fans would be shaking their head at the way Chris Louis left the club so the less said about his thoughts on things the better.

There are two GP's this weekend in the UK, at one of the best tracks in the world, with one night already sold out.. That alone shows that the sport in this country can draw plenty of people "when done right", and also shows plenty of UK fans are still willing to pay out plenty to watch it.. Showing there is still a strong affinity from many towards it... Hopefully, the likes of Richard Coleman can lead the changes so every UK meeting is "done right" and the future is a positive one...

At least some people are trying I guess! More than some people on here do, just constantly moan and have nothing positive to say at all. If everyone had the attitude of some people on this forum the door in speedway would have been shut a long time ago, and before anyone wants to make a smart comment about “maybe they should have” then actually think why are you even in this forum. People SHOULD want speedway to succeed, everyone can mocks each other and clubs in meetings when someone isn’t good enough but ti then constantly slate the entire sport doesn’t do any favours either.

quite a few contributors seem to be trolling the forum for some reason...over the winter there was too little comms. now its too much. i welcome the more regular developments. at least it shows we are being proactive in managing the team

I wouldn't want to pay twenty five quid for a rushed through meeting which doesnt even last an hour, and probably only goes to heat 10. Bottom line is that on this particular occasion Lynn have got it right.

Started at 8.30 and got heavier where i was. Might of got to heat 10 at a push. Then you would of had people moaning that they didn't get their moneys worth, and rightly so. So on this occasion.. Early call off = Buster gets S##t if the rain had stayed away... Run it till ht 10= Buster gets S##t , fans not happy.. Rains all Monday, track is under water = Buster still gets S##t because he still called it off to early..

Last week the trophy room got broken into, I believe... The police quickly caught the bloke who did it though... He was spotted walking through the town with a Green and Yellow carpet on his shoulders as he said that was the only thing he could find worth nicking... Buddum Tish....

It's not strange because the forecast was wet all afternoon and then heavier rain from 8pm, and that was today as well as yesterday. It looks by the met office radar that it is now finally starting to arrive but much later than it was supposed to. Quite why anyone thinks that Lynn wouldn't want to ride a Leicester side minus Thompson and Howarth is beyond me, they would have been much weaker than with them fit.

I’d recommend the Longsite Sports & Social club down the road. There’s a collectors fare on and Lynn & Co will ply you with cheap booze. Plenty of banter with our Polish friends as well plus lots of speedway memorabilia to idle the time away with (mostly Aces based).

Always respect your views Mike as you have said previously there are ten's of thousands of lapsed fans of which I am one. I used to live near Lynn so in my late teens I could drive to Saddlebow in ten minutes and then be in the stadium, now I live about an hour and quarter drive away so roughly two and half hour round trip on a school night. I should be able to semi retire at sixty in three years time so might go a few times then but its the usual things that put me off, £25 (I'm guessing to get in now), track seems to have a bad rep these days against mid 80's early 90's when it produced great racing, plus likely guest fest and r/r as well throw on top probably £20 for fuel and another £20 for a dubious burger and a flat pint and your looking at getting on for a £75-£80 verses staying in and watching something of choice on 100 plus Sky channels. Its ever tougher for the sport to attract peoples dollar not just speedway but pubs and nightclubs decimated over the last 20-25 years and look like they are never coming back sadly. As I say to my to lads "in my day you had to go out and find a woman none of this online stuff, my generation had to take ---- off to the face" but great time also pre-mobiles and internet. Its a shame as the last four races of the world cup held in Poland when Poland just beat the UK were some of the best racing I've seen for years so it shows the sport can still be every bit as good as it was in the 80's and 90's.

78 matches in the top flight last year, including PO matches.... 62 Guests used... A bit more than "hardly any" at not far off one a match on average I would say... Maybe the UK should do what Sweden do and all race on the one night (Thursday?), that would then sort it once and for all... They could do that now with an even number in the league.. The top two tiers used 196 in total... Tough for a team sport, in any day and age, to sell such a concept to any major sponsors, and TV companies, I would think, even more so in a world where the optics of what you do are viewed 24/7... Let's hope the likes of Richard Coleman can influence matters enough to eradicate all those "ah, but this is Speedway" nonsense rules, which really should say "ah, but this is UK Speedway...

The riders, with today's bikes, seemed perfectly fine with things at Glasgow on Saturday night, racing on a wet track, often in driving rain... the difference, they were chasing personal World Championship glory in an FIM meeting as opposed to riding in a humdrum league meeting in front of one man and his dog 🐕‍🦺🧍‍♀️

Can’t help his nationality can he. Pedersen was missing for Glasgow at Poole last week, chances are Jeppesen and Jakobsen will be missing for the comets when we race on a Wednesday. It is what it is, as long as it’s an adequate guest who cares really, it’s not that deep.

Meeting off tomorrow at kings Lynn. With the recent hot weather they are concerned that the wooden spoons in the trophy room may catch light causing significant improvements to the stadium 😉

I don't want to get controversial - but I will. I think a big part of Speedway's problems started with the Laydown Engines, and the 4-Valve bikes used in the 70's. It started the free for all with the Engine Tuners. Spiralling costs due to Engine Tuning etc. contributed to increasing the price at the gate, thus taking the Sport out of reach of very many people. Costs became prohibitive crowds grew smaller and smaller. This is where we find ourselves now. There is no doubt in my mind that the old 2-Valve was cheaper to run, safer for the riders, and no real advancement has been shown on the Track. The 2-Valve may have been fractions slower but, what we gained in speed, we also gained in injuries. Tracks built for Speedway nowadays can't cope with the the new 'rocket ships' that riders are using at the moment, hence the big increase in injuries. Tracks haven't changed much since 1928 - but the bikes have. THAT to me is a problem also. I don't believe that the GP System has done British Speedway any good either. Personally, I much preferred the old 'one off' World Final.

Laurence Rogers has been about speedway long enough to get a grip on these things before they happen.

Fair play, that actually makes a lot of sense, which is not something the BSPL have always been good at. It does raise the question, using their same logic, why they chose Poole to host the pairs?
