Doyle has never been my favourite rider but his commitment to the UK has never been in question and it puts a lot of our so called British riders to shame, especially those who are more than happy to ride in British Finals, SON and WC and of course the very popular play offs, but continually decline from riding in the UK but want the benefits nonetheless.

welcome doyle, a good signing, a risky one though because of his low average if he gets injured it dont leave us with alot of options, but ill take a doyle, you know what you are getting with him

I find it hard to see the great destination people are making between the leagues. The Premiership can hardly be described as an elite league, in a very real sense it's the Championships with a sprinkling of elite riders.

It is only boring to you because Poole are successful in it and you obviously hate that. If other prem promoters want Poole to move back up need Weds and tv deal. Though through listening to interviews even though Matt is open to moving up, Danny isn't as keen.

I think Mayfield have saved us and the league. For which we should all be grateful. Unfortunately, the speedway authorities are just delaying the inevitable collapse of speedway in the UK. In my opinion ( not universally popular I guess) the quicker we get a reset the better. Back to one league and get the youngsters on board and make the bloody sport viable again!

So we hear people complain week after week about Wimborne Road, the track prep, gate & go, etc. Yet you still do have opposition riders who come down and are very competitive. Part of the lack of overtaking is inevitable with a strong team like Poole, because opposition can't catch them let alone overtake. Lawson, Harris, Scott, Rushen and others all manage to overtake afterall. Wimborne Road's layout, track width, & surface may not be the most conducive to overtaking of the leagues tracks, but I don't think it's the worst either. Maybe the Pirates Team dominance has something to do with all the criticism?

I watch all the BSN meetings and some of those meetings are no better, I'm afraid it's not just a Poole thing

May 2nd Berwicks last home meeting ridiculous

Was talking to him at Glasgow when worky were up the other week 😀 previously told me he had had enough of the forum, as a lot people took over talking crap all the time. The forum is not as it was a few years ago 😜

I’ve watched speedway for over 50 years and in my honest opinion the bikes have become too powerful for the tracks. Once these riders hit the dirt line they are gone, as was depicted at the recent GP in Manchester. On the first night Frick gated and was gone with each rider subsequently following his line. I thought the second night produced better racing, but over the years I’ve witnessed riders going wider and wider only inches from the fence. I don’t have any immediate answers but unfortunately engine progress is ultimately defining the sport we enjoy. I never thought I’d see the day when a speedway rider would have a laptop plugged into his bike!

95% of teams are beat long before they arrive at poole. However you dress it up poole are more fiscally secure than other teams and can tempt the young improvers down most seasons . They are completely wasted in division 2 really .

Wroclaw have already spoken in Poland that the return date will be scheduled (if all goes well) for August. He will be back for Aces I’m sure of it. It wouldn’t really surprise me with speedway if Bewley comes back for play off season and Doyle signs for Ipswich with Lawson or Scotty leaving the team and Brennan dropping to a number 3 or 4. A lot of meeting which are being postponed are now being rescheduled for September. Part of me thinks a lot of changes in teams may happen to make them stronger and bring a lot more eyes to the play off season as the regular season isn’t really doing it for anyone.

It would incentivise clubs to get matches on though and not call matches off days in advance based on a weather forecast that could be wrong (as they often are) safe in the knowledge that there's loads of blank Monday's and Thursdays left in the calendar (until there aren't). To have only staged 4 home matches in a spring that has been 23% drier than normal is frankly ridiculous for a sporting league organisation. ... and to those that oppose the 1 point each and move on solution with the what happens to season ticket holders argument... Leicester have rearranged the Ippo fixture for July the 6th, bang in the middle of holiday season where many, I included, will be unable to attend due to a booked holiday on what was a blank week in the home fixture list.

Not my management, Birmingham's... and the rider himself, as far as I am aware, never made any comment on the length of his contract before signing it or after it's expiration. If you think that the rider has zero responsibility to the fans that are ultimately paying his wages, that's partly why the sport is in the state it's in. Speedway is no longer a team sport, it's just a bunch of hired gun mercenaries travelling Europe to pick up their next wage packet.

9 heats were “FTG” according to the updates site.😂 You could argue more because three others included references of someone rounding or coming under someone else on B2 L1. The worst track in the country.

Speedway is definitely dead... No effort to run meetings, no tv coverage, ive actually stopped looking at results regularly now.. only today checked if sheffield rode monday to find this meeting already off.. Sheffield only ridden 2 home league matches and next planned in 2 weeks , they last rode 25th May No wonder there is no interest

Massive weekend ahead possibly for the Gladiators as they push for a historic place in the KO Cup Final. Would be a fantastic reward for Mark Phillips, Barry Bishop, Garry May and every associated with Plymouth Speedway who are working hard to buck the trend of Speedway in this country. The buzz around home meetings now is great to see. Two good sides, this will be a cracking two-legged tie. Looking forward to covering this on Gladiators TV

It makes a mockery of nothing... There isnt any major prize for winning either league, therefore, getting decent crowds, (who go to see a winning team), through the season, means decent regular income for Poole.. Their operating model works for them, and they know their customer bases requirements... Ipswich had a successful season last year and their crowds were decent, would they have had better crowds if they had delivered fantastic racing but won nothing? Of course they wouldn't...

Apart from the supporters of many years including those lapsed followers It is doubtful that anyone else cares about the facts and now the sport at its highest level in the UK is of little interest and is unlikely to survive many more seasons in its current form. It needs to gamble on starting again with one league and riders who commit to the British league without fear or favour of overseas leagues. Poland pays top dollar and can dictate what the clubs riders do and that is understandable but in the UK that luxury does not exist so stop pretending and stop paying for the service of the European league riders who cannot/ will not commit 100% to UK speedway. That is fine and clubs in the UK just need to build teams without these guys. If the sport wants to have these riders grace tracks in the UK then hold an individual open tournament. For the domestic scene build from the ground up, use a different business model, appeal to a new generation of supporters and make it more accessible to prospective riders by standardising the equipment and embrace modern technology and new formats. Make a meeting more than just a league meet of x number of heats. Have scratch races, the fastest one lap competition, head to head for golden helmet and handicap races. It needs something different and it can be so good but it does not always need the worlds best riders to produce good racing or exciting racing. Can it happen, possibly, will it happen, unlikely given the management of the sport and the fickle supporters who believe the world revolves solely around league racing and then complain about the lack of a pipeline of new talent. Riders of all levels need track time and back in the day they got it with the second half of a meeting, now they are largely ignored by the mainstream clubs.

As an example. By June 24th this year, Sheffield will have ridden four home matches. At the same date in 2008, they had completed fourteen home matches. I think this helps to understand why some fans get out of the habit, and why riders want/need more than one league.

Championship is far from boring, we don't get the same teams every other week racing each other. Yes i have read the Belle Vue thread, and deep down your not happy about it

Waste of time trying to explain the reasons for riding in the championship, they are all a bit thick, let them carry on with their so called top league. I think Gavan is still in shock that Jason Doyle has gone to his favourite club Belle Vue

You’re absolutely right about the number of missing weeks. But also consider that other teams also had fixtures on the race nights you have quoted (although not all) which impacts the ability to run fixtures. Clearly, an increase of teams would help (even if only two) to provide more regular fixtures in both league and cup competitions as well as the possibility of each club running one individual event per season. Unfortunately at present, there continues to be an impasse between the (minority) professional promotions who would go with one full time league and the (majority) hobbyist promoters whos intransigence continues to hold back any chance of UK speedway moving forward.

I’m absolutely delighted Doyle is back in British speedway we need the big names ….. and let’s be fair it could have been much worse…. He could have gone to Sheffield which would be unforgivable lol Ipswich fans who are angry are just fools who have no idea about the sport …. All the uncertainty over the winter meant Doyle did what’s right for him ….. am I angry …. No… would I have liked him at Ipswich …. Absolutely

Why oh why do you continue to watch Poole meetings then? Your brain must be well addled! Its a shame you do the sport no favours at all by continually criticising......! Poole have won a fair number (not all) of their away meetings in recent seasons as well as home meetings - sometimes by big scores, sometimes by Superheats, often by gate-and-go .........

No club should have a blank week, the fixtures should either state the opponent or state the date as reserved rain off, if there is no meetings to catch up on then there is no meeting, if any home meeting has been called off, they will use the first available reserved rain off date. Further to that, if any club has not completed all its home matches at the cut off date, those meetings are automatically awarded to the away teams.

They are but there are usually racenights when there are no matches scheduled and the weather is fine. This is why clubs should endeavour to run at home at least three weeks out of every four. I know a league of six makes that difficult but that's just another reason to amalgamate the leagues.

An excellent signing for B/Vue I'm not a great fan of JD but no one can argue about his commitment and past record in the UK ,hope he has a successful and injury free season .

If Edinburgh had been up for it, could have been a good meeting, we had a lot of rain, riders from both teams went out to test it, you had to attack it as Lawson proved with the fastest time of the season.

I remember on here, for both signings, (Adam and MJJ), within an hour or so of being announced, some contributors said they were 100% short term deals... They were proved very much correct....

With the lack of action this season due to three weeks between home meetings and postponements at the drop of a hat even the die hards will find other interests going to be some woeful crowds i think, especially with the world cup about to start. This season the sport has hit rock bottom, can it survive?

Update from Danyon Hume posted on social media. Just a quick update for everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. Tomorrow I’m going down to have all of the metalwork removed from my back. This is a huge step forward in my recovery and brings me one step closer to getting back on the bike where I belong. It’s been a long, challenging road to recovery with plenty of ups and downs, but for the first time in a long while, there’s real light at the end of the tunnel. Once I’m through this next stage, my focus will be on working hard to rebuild my fitness, strength, and confidence so I can return fitter, stronger, and more determined than ever. I can’t thank everyone enough for the support, messages, and encouragement along the way. It has meant more than you know. The comeback starts now, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
