The loss of Kevin Long on the mic has been massive from my perspective. Canāt be understated what a difference he made to the meeting experience. Huge miss.4 points

I cannot believe that something like this would ever happen... As it would directly impact the considerably high level of integrity and credibility that UK Speedway continually, and proudly, displays ..4 points

I genuinely canāt believe what Iām reading, so you expect the lad to miss one of his GCSE exams! Iām sure I can recall a full facility being granted for other 16 year olds doing their GCSEs in the past!3 points

In the ālong runā Iām hopeful that there becomes a sufficient number of professional promoters who get together to drive the sport as a business profitably onwards and upwards. That said, thereās a lot of water to go under the bridge before that becomes reality.3 points

I've been to the meeting s at Foxhall this season and haven't noticed any decline from last season. In fact, the new TV screen has added to the experience and once they get interviews onto that for the crowd to hear it will be even better. Some people just love to moan.3 points

The size of the sport in the UK makes it perfect for it to be a feeder league to Poland... I would go as far as to say that UK clubs should form links with them... The BSB deliver a great product using some old heads, some young UK riders, and some young riders from Europe, Japan, and Australasia who are not ready for the higher echelons.. They ensure that the talent they "lose" to MotoGp and WSB as the best riders, organically, move through the levels, get replaced by the next riders in line, due to running several lower classes including youth racing... They don't rely on other competitions to bale them out, nor allow other competitions to impact their fixture schedule... In short. They know their place and cloth is cut accordingly.. The result is a strong competitive format... Given the amount of young Poles who ride Speedway there will be a surplus of reasonable talent that cannot get team places, therefore, the UK should enable them to ride over here as part of their development.. In any business, why wouldn't a smaller entity try and forge great relations with the biggest business in their industry?... UK Speedway is now at a point where it needs significant help, and a conveyer belt of riders from the No1 Speedway nation on earth would certainly help them.. And, at the same time, help Poland with their overall rider development...3 points

At some point the point has to be raised: does the sport exist to serve league competition, or does league competition serve the sport? At its core, speedway (and all professional sport) exists as entertainment, and it's unthinkable to imagine a cinema - for example - that has no films showing on some weeks. Consider what you want from your enterprise - one, two, three, even four home meetings a month - and make the league fit that, not the other way round.3 points

The balance sheet is in deficit before a wheel was turned. £70k lost due to no tv deal and a further £30k for a new air fence. No emil which would affect attendance and a repetive league.2 points

Itās been a while but speedwayās back with a bang in the Borders this Saturday. Typically dreich spring weather means it will be 49 days since the last high-octane racing action at Shielfield Park. But who better to relaunch the season than Glasgow Tigers, a team packed with track specialists against a Bandits side hoping to welcome back Peter Kildemand to the fold after injury and handing a debut to Jordan Jenkins. At 43, Chris āBomberā Harris shows no sign of slowing down and recently qualified for the World Championship Challenge while Berwick-born-and-based Leon Flint, the ultra-exciting Kyle Howarth and Danish newcomer Kevin Juhl Pedersen all know their way around Britainās paciest racetrack. But in Nick Morris the Bandits also have an all-out racer in fine form, guesting for a number of clubs and riding with Premiership Leicester during the Banditsā hiatus, while Victor Palovaara was just two points away from joining Harris in the GP Challenge. Berwick already have an eight-point victory under their belts over their noisy neighbours, in the BSN Series. That went right down to the wire and thereās no reason to think Saturday night will be any different. As always accompanied under-16s go free so make a family night of it at Shielfield Park where there are 1,400 seats in the covered grandstand, terracing and grass banking viewing areas which allow you to get up close and personal to the action. Thereās also two licensed bars and a takeaway hot food restaurant. Gates open at 6pm, first race is at 7pm. Buy your tickets online from berwickspeedway.com/tickets or pay cash on the night. Oh, and parking's free.2 points

Most meetings over the past decade or so have become pretty much "Speedway for the sake of it"... Given so many promoters fund a hobby plenty of what we have now is "Speedway for the sake of it".. Hence, nothing is even considered to not be fit for purpose, therefore nothing radically changes and each season morphs into the last one.. Without these hobbyists though there wouldn't be Speedway, given there doesn't appear to be a long line of others to take over their tracks..2 points

Has he been suspended though? I haven't heard anything. We don't know what has caused this sudden decline in his mental health. Maybe he has issues at home. Either way, we don't know and won't know. We can only hope he's okay now and he does what's best for him and the team2 points

The inclusion of JD would have exceeded the cost budget for riders. Might not be what you want to read, but at least you have a promotion with long term sustainability in mind. A professional promotion not a hobbyist.2 points

What about next Thursday. Nothing else happening and think of the savings with a curtailed league programme. Just pull two names out of the hat and get on with it. That will have as much credibility as seeing the campaign drag on for another four months with meetings interspersed by weather. It has become a fragmented programme with little to get excited about. A sad state of affairs. If only those in charge took on board some of the feedback from the punters but alas the contempt shown towards the supporters in this country will back fire on in the short term and more tracks will close as the finances will not stack up and they have no chance of getting the lapsed supporters to return. Heads up arses and fingers in ears best describes those who oversee this once great sport.2 points

Thank goodness for our guest. A draw probably a fair reflection and i'm just glad that Luke Harrison found that speed too late in the day to score many points - that said, i'm not sure why he didn't take the r/r in ht14 - what am i missing? Thompson still rusty and looked unlucky to be excluded when Wood hit the fence but i'd need to see it again. Thomson continues to impress. Middle order ok in parts but real issues at reserve - Cluff looked back to his early season ways and Loftus looked all at sea tbh. Only one point between them and that was from a three man heat. Not good enough at home and will cost us.1 point

Pretty enjoyable meeting I thought. Not Klindts biggest fan but excellent tonight. Scott won the meeting though, excellent night and most of it from the back. Lambert unlucky with his puncture, but probably Edwards worst meeting as a Bear. King and Nicholls excellent for the visitors as expected with solid support from Barker. Probably not enough for us to progress but happy with the home win.1 point

Very, very true... Unsolicited feedback, especially poor feedback, can be "Gold" to a business... When the criticism is databased, (so factual), and also carries some constructive comments, then even better...1 point

A £100k net minus v last years' numbers from moment one.... 5,000 extra punters needed to pull that back, just to "stand still"... And not too many meetings to do it in either...1 point

Thanks Mike but I was thinking more if he made himself available to come back now, why as others have suggested Ipswich didn't push to get him back given how much he's loved in Suffolk.1 point

For me, in the UK, the sport exists to provide a hobby for many of fhe promoters, and an income stream for lads who want to ride a Speedway bike.... No more, nor less, than that... Continuous contrived septets, put randomly together almost 200 times a season, on an ad hoc basis, suggests the sport certainly isnt set up to have its leagues as its major selling point...1 point

It makes a mockery of nothing... There isnt any major prize for winning either league, therefore, getting decent crowds, (who go to see a winning team), through the season, means decent regular income for Poole.. Their operating model works for them, and they know their customer bases requirements... Ipswich had a successful season last year and their crowds were decent, would they have had better crowds if they had delivered fantastic racing but won nothing? Of course they wouldn't...1 point

Oh I agree her definitely does ā¦. One ex witch was very vocal in telling people how much help both Doyle and Emil were in the pits regarding set ups and overall morale ā¦.. the same ex witch said a certain side he rode for the top boys offered no help and kept themselves to themselves and the team morale was low ā¦. It wasnāt Belle Vue but I will let you work it out ā¦. im sure Doyle will help Tate and cairns no end1 point

Great to see Doyley back in the uk. He can get his average down ready to come back home to Ipswich next season.1 point

Just out of interest To get Doyle back in, which two would you have dropped out And who else would sign with Jason? A couple of comments on here are laughable from "fans"1 point

Update on former Berwick rider Connor Coles posted on social media. After 6½ weeks in hospital and rehabilitation, Connor is finally home. To say weāre grateful is an understatement. There were times when we didnāt know what the future would look like, so having him back home with us and the girls is the best feeling in the world. The progress he has made has been incredible. Just over two weeks ago he was largely bedbound, struggling to talk and eating purĆ©ed food. Today heās walking, talking (all be it still very quietly) eating normal meals and continuing his recovery at home with his family. He still has a long road ahead, with ongoing appointments, exercises and rehabilitation, but today is a huge milestone and one we werenāt sure weād see so soon. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, checked in on us, helped with the girls, visited Connor, donated, fundraised and kept us going through the hardest weeks of our lives. Every message, phone call and act of kindness has meant more than youāll ever know. We also want to thank every single member of staff involved in Connorās care and rehabilitation. Your support, encouragement, expertise and belief in him have helped get him home to us, and we will be forever grateful. Recovery doesnāt stop here, but weāre simply grateful to have our family back under one roof agai1 point
