  1. That never seemed to be a problem in the past.

  2. Maybe teams should've run during the lovely summer instead of having such a disjointed fixture list.

  3. That's probably the best way, ride on a Tuesday but not at the weekend think most Berwick supporters would agree

  4. Some fans will not admit it but Eastbourne struggled to average an attendance of 1,000 for a very long time. NDL was way below that and in the final season a 1,000 crowd was the best for the opening meeting. After that crowds visibly and worryingly diminished. A new promoter will need a big pot of money to pay initial rent, riders, air fence and all the rest of it. They would need to embark on a massive PR and marketing campaign. To do it properly is a must and that’s expensive. This will be controversial but changing the club name might help. It’s called Eastbourne Eagles - the track is miles away from the resort’s pier. Call it Sussex xxxx and personally I think the name Eagles is rather last century. Clean slate needed, in my view.

  5. never was when we were doing it we could always get cover for missing track staff

  6. Hearing that will be extended.

  7. Once the track dried out & riders didnt pull out all their tear off in the oner 🤣 ( Lambert I think) it was a decent meeting. That heat where Pedersen channelled his inner Nicki Pedersen was good. And it looked like Jody attacked the track which was ( as he always is) awesome to watch. Well done for having the 2 minutes silence, a touch of class. And thank you Jamie Swales!

  8. The key words there being "at the moment".. A decent six figure TV paynent, per team, for the top tier would encourage movement I suggest, as would being allowed to use Wednesdays... I don't think too many riders will ride over here and Denmark, therefore there shouldn't be too many clashes.. I presume the Championship is being set up to be a league for "the hobbyists" and the top tier seen as the league of "the professionals"...

  9. The BSPA need to pull their finger out and put some tighter rules on doubling up for Poole to consider coming up. Maybe you can't double up in the championship if your average is over 5.00 in the premiership. Also, changing the fixed race nights to add in Wednesday as we no longer have to worry about top riders also riding in Sweden/Denmark leagues. Poole should never be forced into the Premiership. We should have a system where it is attractive to be in the top league (like every other team sport!). If Poole think they will have Will Cairns at number 1 next season with a bunch of national league riders at reserve maybe they will move up so they can have a Jack Holder in the team. If the 2 leagues remain close there is no benefit of moving up. Poole continue to make money, get to the playoffs and have fruitful meetings at the end of the season in the championship while charging the fans £5 less. The Premiership is a risk with no reward at the moment.

  10. For anyone that has a spare 1 hour. This is a great watch. Some great interviews and insights

  11. SCB have concluded their investigation into the incident at Plymouth and confirmed that Bomber did not stamp on Ben Barker (think there is a few apologies needed), and no further action to be taken. "Having gained more video evidence of the incident from a different angle, this clearly shows that at no point did Mr Harris kick or stamp on Mr Barker." Anyway if nothing else it gave some interest to what was mainly a meeting full of 'from the gate' heats

  12. Lightcap and Bailey at reserve 🤣 not a chance that will happen

  13. Assuming the reasoning behind squeezing the Championship team averages down, is to create a distinct gap to the Premiership and also persuaded clubs like Poole and Glasgow to move up, so making the top League a TV viable proposition. Then it's hard to believe (except that it's UK Speedway we're talking about) that the whole matter hasn't already been decided in principle at least, with all parties concerned. Bearing in mind the size of the task/risk for clubs swapping leagues.

  14. It was a brilliant event which included a lot of decent racing, fair amount of it fore the minor places but still good racing. Everyone who was there enjoyed it.

  15. Granted the track wasn't as good as Belle Vue or Wroclaw, but I still thought it was an entertaining meeting.

  18. Would be nice to know, even provisional dates, so people can put plans in place but that would be a considerate thing to do!

  19. I was there at the meeting and failed to understand why Ellis wasn't replaced by Brennan. Couldn't have fared any worse so defo worth a try. A strange decision to stick with Ellis in my view.

  20. Oh right how did all clubs manage it in the past?

  21. I'd be happy with that anything's better then Ellis been a failure time and time again

  22. It’s not just rider availability. Track staff, first aiders, and other volunteers in stadiums also take holidays. If you don’t have enough of those around, you also can’t put on a meeting.

  23. What a ridiculous thought!!! The most baffling thing is meetings don't get run during those best months for decent weather... I can only presume, down to "rider availability"... Yet Guestfest after Guestfest will take place at the start and end of the season, when the weather is generally not great for watching Speedway... Due to "rider availability".. Work that one out?! If Guestfest after Guestfest is (as it clearly must be), their only way of running Speedway in the UK, then at least do it in the best weather to get the crowds to attend!!!

  24. Bit of a over reaction i fear !! Is that ZG you are not going to or Poland again ? Security is always going to be at it’s highest for any derby match in Poland especially ZG v Gorzow.

  25. May not of been the most exciting meeting but you had to be there to take in the atmosphere. Sitting at home watching on TV, will never beat being at a live meeting . Me and my brother actually got given 2 tickets for free from a very generous polish guy. He didn't even ask to see my passport 🙄 (zelona Góra wanted ours just to buy tickets for that meeting) mental

  26. Well i was there for world team cup and the zelona Góra meeting enjoyed both meetings actually on ferry 5am Tuesday morning. But will not be going again. For the zelona Góra meeting had to show our passports. Then again when going into stadium mental i think the poles have turned into nazis. Vanting to see my papers. That's where I draw the line, will not be going over anymore. Im done with this bullrubbish.

  27. Jody Scott will be in there too with the progress he is making

  28. I’ve never witnessed anybody in Gorzow look at an app on their phone, it’s all done via the big screen like you said in the latter part and the stadium announcer. Polish fans are more interested in drinking a beer when they get time than filling in a programme, but also the Polish fans are not that old that they can’t get up 😂

  29. So, it seems after the longest and driest summers since nineteen canteen, a six team league will struggle to fulfil their fixtures before the current play off dates and so will loose my money should we (Ipswich) make it because I stupidly booked a holiday. How on earth did we fit in 28-30 meetings a season?

  30. Reading the reports from people who were there yesterday are saying this is solely laying the blame at the police door, it was one man being mouthy that started it but he was just one man that should of been dealt with calmly but it seems the police went all in and this didn’t sit well with some others who were close and then it escalated with the police pepper spraying

  31. The reason for that is because everyone is following on the free Ekstraliga app on their phones. Heat results, times, substitutions and general information is all updated instantly. And for those few who aren't following via their phone, there's the big screen with almost all the above information too. Programmes are all but irrelevant to most Polish fans.

  32. Watched a Vlog on YT from the ZG/Gorzow match a fortnight ago... It is done by a Polish lad who usually does generic football Vlogs as he visits different places.. There were at least 10 White Police Vans outside the stadium to try and ensure a safe day for fans... He filmed the crowd and the ZG "end" was incredible... All orchestrated singing, flag waving, and banner displaying... A truly brilliant atmosphere, with a last heat decider too.. Not many seemed to prioritise filling their programmes in as soon as the races finished, nor many asked those around them to be quiet so they could hear the times being read out.....

  34. Thought Flint rode a lot better than 1 point, few silly mistakes but acquitted himself very well on the top stage for the first time. Ellis mistakes as well in scoring positions that he shouldn't be making with the experience he has. Wright had a great meeting, again felt like he scored more than he did as he was always in the mix. Woryna jumping off was an embarrassment. Lambert just oozes class at the moment, if he can win in Vojens then Torun could be very interesting. Wasn't the most exciting of meetings but there has been a lot worse at GP level, enjoyed it this morn

  36. I suspect that he was obliged to do so . I often thinks that when former pro sports people have been retired for a number of years the value of their input diminishes .This why Scott who is still active and about retire would make a perfect replacement IMO, I like Kelvin but he needs some up to date help at the very least .

  38. Having had this post brought to my attention I shall respond. Firstly thank you for spelling my name right ! Secondly I will definitely NOT be getting involved in any speedway position at the club, I’m happy just being a spectator, thank you. Thirdly, speedway doesn't need ‘old’ promoters coming back, it needs NEW, FRESH IDEAS to try and get the sport back to the level it used to be at and an independent leadership to sort it out. Thanks, Kevin.

  42. It must be so galling that the biggest country in speedway, with all the fans, riders, money and clubs, has a national stadium that none of their team can ride. Funny though.

  45. I gather thousands of free tickets have been given away so that it looks good on ticket sales. Not sure why because 35,000 would still have been a cracking attendance.

  46. I honestly can’t believe that people’s love of riders get in the way of facts. did Harris and barker have a hard good race …. Yes. did barker say any words to Harris. No one knows but likely something was said. is there clear evidence no matter what Harris says that he swiped barkers bike yes there is. did Harris stomp on barker who knows from the video it looks like it but it’s no conclusive. Did they have words in the pits of course that the nature of it. should they shake hands and just get on with it, of course. Race I thought was harsh but maybe just about fair. I’ve no idea what barker says. But Harris clearly swipes the wheel and Harris looks old an idiot saying otherwise. Just own it. Shake hands and move on.

  47. Wow, that's good going. I'm off there tomorrow with four mates. Should be a great atmosphere. Come on GB though I have a sneaky suspicion they'll come fourth. 🙈

  48. You're largely right. This saying that people don't go to speedway because they "don't like seeing the same riders every week" or "the Rider Replacement rule is too complicated" is utter nonsense. That's not the reason new people don't come to Speedway. It's the reason who old people who've been going to Speedway for 50 years THINK that new people don't come to speedway. They're wrong. Look at Darts. No one complains they're just seeing Luke Littler every week in different competitions. They go for the atmosphere. The razzmatazz. Being able to shout and sing in a large crowd, creating an atmosphere. The lights, the music. They can't even see the darts go in the board, but they don't care. They're wrapped up in the atmosphere. Cricket - again, look at crowds for the 20/20 and 100 ball stuff. They go for the atmosphere, the razmatazz, lasers, music. Bands playing in between innings. They don't stay away because Freddie Trueman was playing for Worcestershire last week and today he's playing for the Birmingham Broncos. They don't stay away because they don't unfderstand Duckworth Lewis. Speedway just hasn't moved with the times. The sport is far more exciting than darts or cricket. The one minute races are perfect for today's short attention span customers, but we're not providing the atmosphere and value for money around the basic sport. We're not making it cool to go to speedway like it's cool to watch the darts or the short-form cricket.

  49. According to his manager Carolina they are expecting Freddie to return to racing shortly.
