Rushen did nothing wrong there, he’s due an apology from Staechman, who was babbling nonsense that he’d done something really dangerous (and who didn’t have the guts to correct himself when the replay showed him to be way off).6 points

I attend few domestic meetings, but do attend the play off finals that the Aces are in.. Why?.. Not because I see the winning of a UK Team Speedway title has any major relevance in its current guise, but the finals do provide some atmosphere which you associate with a team sport... In short, they are something worth attending if you like live sport... 400 or so Aces fans at Sheffield, stood on turns three and four, a few years ago, meant a superb night of watching sport, with the racing only being "OK" at best... Standing with 200 or so at Leicester a couple of years ago on the first turn also made the evening a great spectacle... Plenty of banter between rival fans, plenty of pee taking of the opposition managers, and riders, and no malice in sight... If UK Speedway had that many away fans at EVERY meeting then it would be in a hugely more successful position..... Your Team. Your Riders... Win, lose or draw, that is how a team sport should be if you want people to emotionally engage with it... Glad the Aces got Sheffield as several hundred will descend on Owlerton next week... Should be a great atmosphere...5 points

Agree with that and so did picko3 points

I would've said similar...until my club shut down. Watching a very good meeting as a neutral is good, but watching an average meeting in a stadium with 20k people and an electric atmosphere is miles better. People absolutely care about it.3 points
-
I’d suggest that you do need some form of needle to get the atmosphere going. Currently there is little atmosphere at any uk speedway stadium unless you get a large crowd in for the big meetings. I’m very happy to have Coleman leading Ipswich & hopefully he’ll turn the fortunes of uk speedway around.3 points

So did Scunny for the cup final in 2023. But a play-off final isn't a cup final. It's bigger than that - it decides the league championship3 points

Ask the Indians about the benefit of the British Empire. Next time you throw stones at Russia, take a closer look in the mirror.3 points

I laugh when people open their mouth on here and think they are clever without knowing facts. I’ve always stated guests are a joke FOR and AGAINST my club. I want to win a trophy with my team, not a bunch of guests who have nothing to do with why we got to the final.3 points

Masters cost lions in heat 14. He should be winning that. Great watch for the neutral though. Going to be some final3 points

Ablitt showed tonight why no team were willing to give him a chance in 2025 and Hook showed why no one gave him a chance until August.2 points

For a former rider, Staechmann is pretty clueless at times.2 points

I know Stewmac would say the same- it’s our pleasure.2 points

Every country may have a past, but the Russia situation is currently a present. That's the big difference.2 points
-
Indeed, which is exactly my point. I didn't claim the British Empire doesn't have a dark history. I'm simply pointing out that to say the Russian history doesn't compare - like our slightly mad forum member is trying to do - is completely absurd. He was trying to compare the Russian-Ukraine situation to British history, while completely glossing over the Russian history. Look back at the thread.2 points

No reason to fleece loyal fans who've been going all season though. This is something which has always irritated me.2 points

No pricing complaints from any Poole fans.2 points

Havent seen anyone moan about play off prices at Scunthorpe2 points

Newsflash. Russian atrocities didn't start with Ukraine. Do you know anything about Russian history? If not, try asking any of the following... Poland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Hungary, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Chechnya, Georgia, Afghanistan, Syria, Japan, China or South Korea to name but a few. And that's not to mention the crimes against their own people, either. The Soviet Union specialised in rapid, industrialised internal terror, political purges, and ideological subjugation that killed millions of its own citizens.2 points

I see Plymouth have got the begging bowl out stating if they dont raise 46k for a new air fence they wont be open next season! Have promotions over the years that making such threats does no good? Anyone with half a brain cell isn't going to invest in a new fence for a club that isn't financially able to afford it themselves.2 points

Good to watch on BSN right down to the wire and beyond, any excuse not to visit that awful Leicester track though. Douglas and Morris obviously unable to team ride together (never really seen Douglas do with anyone tbh) as that was the only option in the superheat once Fricke hit the front, standard one in one out and Pickering would have had zero chance on that ultra slick track. Fantastic effort by the Leicester team though to drag back 24 points to be level (don’t think they ever went ahead but could be wrong) imagine there’ll be thinking what if for the odd point in race they consider dropped like Masters in ht14. Majority of Sheffield team were pretty woeful bar Fricke who was excellent both legs, Holder consistent in his 3 rides and Flint for his final 2 rides, the rest need to have a good look at themselves and I’ll include Pickering in that batch of riders getting 5 from 5. If Pickering, Rowe and reserves had stepped up then no need for the super heat, drastic improvement needed for the Belle Vue matches2 points

Well done Scunny but a long way short of being enough.1 point

Decent watch that was, slick but well prepared track that produced some good racing1 point

A real shame for the Scorpions having two riders completely off it, when the rest of the team are riding so well. Poole far from their best, but everybody contributing at least something, which should be more than enough for them now in the second leg.1 point

A decent meeting and the last four heats had some of the best racing. Well done to Leon Madsen. These individual meetings in Europe bring out the best in the riders and I only wish we had more individual meets in the UK with some real prize for being the winner. Dream on as far as that is concerned and thanks for the links for this and all the seasons meetings we are indebted to Racers & Royals and Stewmac for the valuable contributions that they make which enable many to watch European speedway. Cheers guys.1 point

While you're at it, you could also ask the over 3,000,000 slaves England/Britain transported in the 17th/18th centuries. Every country has its past!1 point

Well we can afford more in the wealthy south! You wouldnt know about play off prices!1 point

Normal price at Poole is £2 more than most other tracks 😜1 point

But you also said "Leicester are better without Fricke are they?" Obviously I agree it's better to have a top rider for the big heats, but it's not as simple as that, otherwise Lynn would be in the play-offs. Fricke riding for Leicester may have won heats 13 & 15, but a weaker rider elsewhere could have scored less, countering Fricke's contribution. If Howarth didn't retire or Masters didn't lose form, Leicester still would've made it. I don't think k you can just pick up on not choosing Fricke being the sole "difference".1 point
-
Nothing wrong with the team that was picked, just the way it performed. Could maybe question the Paco/Jenkins signings as they never worked out but the team failed because Fricke's average dropped alarmingly and he never looked comfortable at Lynn, and because Cook & Kvech failed to kick on. The promotion need to find out why those things happened.1 point
-
If Leicester had Kept Fricke, and was their choice not to, then make up of the main body of the team would not have been the same as what it is now. It would have had to be a lot weaker…..want to know how weak, look no further than Kings Lynn.1 point

Did anyone tell Douglas that winning the race doesn't win the super heat....1 point

Funny how a rider who failed to get in the play off with his contracted team from the start of the season can now knock out another team in the semi-finals. It’s surprising really that anybody watches speedway anymore with genuine love for their team. Nowadays it’s just for everyone to watch the sport. Coleman is right, tribalism of cheering on your team is completely dead in this sport and exactly why speedway won’t get new supporters through the door. First time in 4 years I couldn’t be bothered to watch the play offs. Good meeting or not it’s just beyond a joke. Rules need to change next year with a lot of other bits too. I’m an Ipswich fan but to be honest even if we build an awesome team what’s the point when other teams can’t follow suit and have good and fair competition. Surely everybody wants to win a competitive league and not this current state of affairs. Saying that, good luck Sheffield and Belle Vue and I hope you make some brilliant racing in the final!1 point

Do you really want to compare the history of Britain and Russia? What Russia are doing in Ukraine is not even close to what the British Empire did.1 point

Tonight is all about winning. Thats what the fans want. They not arsed about entertainment tonight. Just win and get to final1 point

I would say both to different degrees he said a few years back he wouldn't subsidise the stars to the levels he had previously , he thought Brady would be the man to hand the club off to but we know that didn't work out, equally I don't think he wants to see the club fold even if it made his life easier but he's not going to go all in on a knockout team in his late sixties and risk losing his retirement pot.1 point

Its been well documented that in their final Premiership/Elite seasons - having won the titles several times - Poole took a big hit financially. Crowds dipped on Thursdays, sponsors changed. stadium rental/costs increased (and Matt was moving temporarily to France). Fans were asked what level of racing and what race night they preferred - the answer was Championship on Wednesdays. So be it! At the time MF stated it was 30% cheaper to run in the Championship than the Prem. A greater variety of fixtures/opponents also appealed to the fans who continued to attend in good numbers - especially as Poole continued to track successful, winning teams, all built within the same points limit as everyone else - no rules broken, no super wages paid!. In the background was - and still very much is - the long term future of Poole Stadium, Council owned and until recently leased to Clarke Osborne's Gaming International company. (CO passed away in August leaving his widow as the sole Director of Poole Stadium Ltd) Its understood they still have 14 years left on the lease. With all Councils under pressure to generate more house building, everyone is waiting for some clarification as to the stadium's future.... No club no matter how successful or otherwise, will take a major step into something that is going to cost significantly more when its traditional home maybe under threat - or at the very least requiring firm clarification.1 point

This is the trophy which Cami has targeted all season, he even went so far as to throw away the BSN series, the KO cup and the Championship just so he could focus on this fixture and claim the bragging rights in Scotland. I fully expect to see his tactical genius on display tomorrow night and i confidently predict a Tigers win (in a heat 16 run off).1 point

Danes have just announced changes to the set up in 2027. 6 riders per team - 2 must be U 21 of which 1 can be a foreigner. could also be out of the 6 - 3 must be Danes.1 point

And why do you think most people wouldn't say it to face? Go on....have a guess...it might just make you realise why most people don't want him anywhere near the sport now.1 point

It’s also disgraceful that British riders don’t ride in Britain, for British speedway to survive and recover (if it can )its needs riders to understand the battle is a 2 way street and riders have to do their bit1 point

It's also disgraceful to force someone to ride in a league that they may feel is financially unviable.1 point

I agree but I think the current points are just to far apart. It annoys me that only a non qualified SGP rider can progress via the SEC If the series is won by a rider already assured of a spot in SGP next year then the whole process is pointless.1 point
