  1. Just have a fit for purpose RR facility.. A No1 missing then every rider can take his rides up to all riders taking no more than seven rides in total, meaning, for example, the two remaining HL's could take two rides each, their own four rides, and Ht 15.. For riders lower down the team the riders above and below could take two rides each if the manager wanted.. For a number 7 missing then a No8 comes in for two of his rides and the other reserve takes the other two.. Guests just destroy the sport from ever being taking seriously by media, sponsors and fans, hence Poland would never see them as a "necessary evil"... Not a good starting point to grow the sport when guests are so fundamentally wrong if you wish the sport to be considered relevant...

  2. The Colt's racing filled the gaps well... The Triumph Owners Club was a "bit different" from the run of the mill meeting presentation.. And the National Anthem gave the meeting a bit of "gravitas".. The five and six man races were definitely good to watch and also maintained interest for at least 8 riders through the meeting.. Also noticeable was how many Aces fans were wearing club colours ranging from hats, caps to replica tops, and fleeces... The Aces seem to have got their act together off the track in this respect.. Still lots of opportunity for fan engagement, but the Aces do look like they have moved forward in this area.. The track is a huge bonus which should underpin everything else they do... A very professional set up at the Aces I would suggest...

  3. A very good meeting, plenty of exciting racing even if it wasn’t for a race win. The meeting was very slick too. I like the 5 rider semi, and the 6 rider final Only thing there I would change is make the 5 rider semi 5 laps, and the 6 rider final 6 laps. I like the presentation of the final….. finalist coming out as passengers on big bikes, and then being able to chose their own gate. Overall presentation was better than GP presentations, IMO. Well done Belle Vue, and thanks to ALL the riders for making a great meeting. 22 races with very good competitive racing., in 2.5 hours. If every speedway meeting was held as good as that, presentation and racing, then maybe speedway in the uk could start attracting sponsors and crowds. And thank you to BSN for streaming the meeting. Quality I found to be very good, and the presenters/interviewers were all professional. Well done BSN

  5. Gary Flint saying lack of competitive track time costing Berwick a few points,then why would you want to start the season with the KO cup,especially as there are few spare dates for most Clubs this season.

  8. Why indeed, the Berwick riders had a duty to be ready for the fixture as they had enough time to get the necessary preparations in place to be ready, though they probably weren't helped by the club agreeing to a KO Cup fixture straight off, poor planning and a poor excuse.

  10. April 7th was the first time a track in this country had a loose surface and bikes weren't fitted with brakes. It was therefore the first time that broadsiding was seen - demonstrated most effectively by Colin Watson, Alf Medcalf and Digger Pugh. The 19 Feb meeting had a hard rolled surface and all bikes were fitted with rear brakes under ACU rules. No broadsiding took place even by the two experienced Aussies (Keith McKay and Billy Galloway) who were there. The top Australian promoter. A.J. Hunting, arrived towards the end of the 19 Feb meeting and took the promoter, Jack Hill-Bailey, to one side and told him that he "had it all wrong." He then took a hand in preparing the track properly for the 7 April meeting while also lobbying the ACU to remove their rule insisting on rear brakes.

  13. Just got back home after my first meeting of the season and I’ve got to say to all you Poole fans Kyle Newman was absolutely excellent tonight as for us at Plymouth and I no it’s only the first meeting but I’m very worried about our reserves.

There is a difference though,Nichols was at the meeting as a guest.Flint was in the Team and didn’t take a ride so don’t see how you can us IRR when he was not injured in the actual meeting.( which I think that is the point of IRR).Perhaps if Flint had withdrew before racing started they would have got RR.

You even went to the trouble of digging out some of his best scores last year to back up your argument! Now after ONE meeting it seems as though you’re desperate to get rid of him..

  18. I don't think Berwick were that bad, they lost by 16 points (not a thrashing) away from home, against a team expected to be amongst the favourites for the league, who were strengthened by Edwards taking 3 of Mulford's rides!

Thought the presentation was very good last night, yourself and Adam seem to get along ok and he offers up some good info from a riders perspective. Keep up the good work BSN.   21. He used to be a regular in the second halves at Somerset almost on a weekly basis and used to ride for the Somerset ‘Giants’ second half side many moons ago - so there is certainly a connection there. More so than Lee Complin who is nothing to do with Somerset at all.

  24. Not sure it could be anything else but slipped in between end of regular season and semi- finals !!!! All round dates on previous page. Rounds 15/16 is QF’s 1 v 6, 2 v 5 and 3 v 4 over 2 legs Rounds 17/ 18 are semi’s with 3 QF winners plus best loser.

  26. I never take offence I'm not actually advocating moving Kye to number 2. I did say Castagna isn't consistent enough, so that rules out any such move, unfortunately. I would argue that Kye could still become a "solid heat leader", regardless of what number race jacket he dons. The added bonus being that paid wins behind Josh would only ever make his maximum average 9.00 (he would obviously win heat 8), as opposed to 12.00. There's too much emphasis on heat 8 being an 'easy race'. The same can be said for heats 12 and 14, thus making the difference between 2, 3 and 4 marginal. Anyway, roll on Friday. Kids - don't forget - chocolate is a laxative. Say no to Easter eggs.

  27. Really enjoyed that, the racing improved after a slow start. A fair bit of rustiness on show but a competitive meeting with the cream rising to the top in the later stages. Always a great speedway experience and night out at the NSS.

A highly entertaining night of Speedway entertainment, meeting run really slick, I didn't care much for the faffing around before the final, OK if you're in the main stand not much doing on the back straight in the cheap seats though. 5 and 6 rider races around the NSS is truly a sight to behold! If I had to have a minor gripe (and of course I do ) I found it difficult to identify the Aces in the final with 4 of them racing around in pretty much identical race suits, but that is minor. Overall a brilliant nights racing in a meeting that is fast becoming probably the 2nd most prestigious individual meeting to win in the UK and the winner seemed pretty happy to win also, which tells you something. Hopefully Harris was using this meeting as a test session if not with the form of Sedgeman and Fricke it looks like it may be a long season for Leicester! Glad I made the decision to travel home across the pennines and not down the M6! Why the British road system shuts down at 10pm these days is a right pain in the arse for the travelling sports fan.

  29. They don't usually start the closures until 10:30, so if I attend a league match at the NSS which finishes by 9:20 I can usually beat them. But for that reason I won't be attending any televised meetings this season.

  30. He rode in a Pairs match on Sunday and didn’t get on much better there either. He’s also had a match at Bydgoszcz but both Bydgoszcz and Rzeszow are somewhat polar opposites to Mommore Green so don’t think they would have had much bearing. No reason to be alarmed just yet. Wolves are the type of team who will do well at home and get battered away against most sides. Kings Lynn’s real test comes around their own track, as Wolves is abit of an obscure one.

  32. An excellent meeting with many great races. Doyle was a worthy winner, as several others could easily have taken it, but his experience of GP finals may have helped when it counted. The 5 rider semi / 6 rider final worked well and the BV staff deserve great credit for the slick presentation. Not sure about the reason to give the two track reserves two 'match races' but that's being picky.

  40. The first meeting I went to featured a guest rider. That was well over fifty years ago. Additionally, I would venture that in a hierarchical list of 'the banes of British speedway', guest riders would not feature highly. Just an opinion.

  42. The reason not to do this is juniors are generally used to less dirt and may struggle on a fresh surface This makes a crash more likely which could mean medical delays or fence repairs which actually delay or even jeopardise the main meeting

  43. What about the elderly, disabled, people in hospital, people away on holiday, people who are working late. There's many reasons fans might chose to stream if they can't make it to a match. Get rid of streaming & you'll lose all these payments! There maybe some who chose to stream, who would normally attend (especially in bad weather) but Speedway is always better live than on TV, so don't imagine there would be many choosing to stay at home if they could go.

  44. Hardest sport in the world to pick the winner as injuries plays a massive part of all sides final position in the League . Here’s hoping that all leagues are a success and crowds rise as spectators are needed to keep British Speedway going . The winning team will have the least injuries and have an astute team manager who will make changes to the starting 7 riders at times when there averages allow them too . Hope attendance’s hold up and support your side as it’s a sport with dwindling audience numbers , good luck to every rider involved and keep speedway alive in the UK

  45. I don't think it does that. Watching streaming is not as good as being there imo. But it is good for people who can't attend because of illness etc, plus extra money for the club.

  47. For all the moans on why crowds have dropped its always been quite clear to me that the main ireason s that the standard of rider has . The most stupid thing I kept hearing on here is that we don't need top riders. What other sport would work like that. If Emil or Nicki are riding at my local track I'm going its as simple as that. .
