Having been looking forward to a Dad and his 2 lads weekend at the Grand Prix Round 2 in Warsaw we had brilliant day watching some excellent racing and the whole day went smoothly and as planned. Our flight home Sunday morning was an early one , we met and had photographs taken with Chris and Jack Holder , we met Jason Doyle and his pit crew all at the Airport which was a good start to our trip home. We had unallocated seats on the plane back to the UK and expected to be separated which was fine ….. the boys boarded as I followed on after only to go and find my youngest lad sitting next to the current leader , the one and only Jason Doyle with Simon Lambert sitting in front. As you can imagine my lad had the biggest cheesiest grin ever to be seen ! Both Jason and Simon chatted pretty much most of the flight home sharing stories and offering some banter. Jason also took a keen interest in my lads Kart racing and was more than willing to look at some photos and ask about the sport which made my lads days. To think Jason had been to work only a few hours before and come away winning the Grand Prix and still take time to talk and show interest in my lad is a day we will never forget. We now look forward to our next trip to watch Round 8 in Wroclaw only this time we’ll be joined by her indoors so I’m guessing they’ll be a bit of shopping and sight seeing involved !4 points

Feel for any team that is affected by any rider’s ban. Anybody advise why in some cases the used banned substance is disclosed and in other cases not. Surely supporters, especially the Tiger’s fans have a right to know.4 points

some would have come on here and said he doesnt know what he is doing putting Matt Perry in the race. I wouldn't put Matt Perry in any race ! David Scwimmer might be a better bet, at least he is still alive3 points

Those quotes are from the bloke who is trying to get Jason garrity back into british speedway, you can draw your own conclusions.3 points

Good to see cami has got over this crying still in the speedway star. Going to put a formal complaint in. Also comping he got a fine for swearing and shouting at the ref. Really didn’t help himself but does make you laugh.3 points

Speedway meetings never used to be cancelled with such small amounts of rain - the meeting against Lynn last week being a case in point. This is hurting not only the hosting tracks but also the sport in general and the riders themselves, because venues will continue to disappear. Some people might say the bikes these days can't be ridden but if that's the case then it's not the tracks at fault but the bikes and it's really disappointing that it's got to this state. I used to enjoy meetings on wet tracks as results were a little more unpredictable. Rant over.3 points

I think that's great he's getting help, but would suggest getting his 4th ride & gating tuition would be more valuable?3 points

What is the matter with some of you, you should be ashamed. i have supported Brum since 1971, never moaned about them, had a few tears ( a bit like my footy team ), but i will still go and watch them , stop piggin moaning. Rumour from the Speedway Tavern show that there is something bigger in the air.3 points

The time when he would get to the track at 5am to prepare it after the banger racing the night before, or bad weather, are long gone. At 66 (August) It's time for himself and Cheryl to enjoy their retirement fund.. And not dwindle it away running Lynn for another year or so.2 points

So can I, I can also recall more than once riders kicking up a stink and not wanting to ride on the re- layed track, and Buster getting really p1ssed off2 points

A contentious decision but there aren’t many matches where there isn’t something that sparks debate. The proverbial ‘first bend bunching’ when a rider is knocked off. Different referees interpretation of when a rider is ready at the tapes to name but two. Bottom line is the match should have finished at heat 15, a draw. Super heat is plain silly. Mr Brown not doing himself any favours labouring the point.2 points

Agreed the taresenko transfer was crazy on a 5, but if a rider has set foot in the u24's he's now a 5 which is madness. The under 24's is just a test pot for Ekstraliga teams to find their next 6 and 7. Having seen the quality of racing in Poland the Ekstraliga 2 is somewhere between championship and premiership. But tarring them all with 6's and 8.5's is madness. I completely agree that there has to be some conversion, but do it based on their actual average not on under or over a 6 points average. That would be the same as saying Leon flint and bomber Harris should have the same converted average.2 points

No guarantee he would have beaten Liebmann which would have done him no good at all but no surprise an old Swindon fan slating Poole or their fans.2 points

And another one happy to see a club fold, you won't have anyone to race against soon2 points

Celina has got the speed she’s shown that. She just needs to improve her gating and be a bit more forceful into the first bend2 points

I'm suggesting they could've put Perry in heat 14, once they were well clear & given both reserves 4 rides.2 points

But Tolley had 7 to "choose" from. You're right of course (just waiting for @LagutaRacingFan to pipe up )2 points

If you class the drone footage from Ashfield as absolute then I wish I had your xray vision, it certainly shows how close all 3 behind Worrall were going over the line but it in no way is it ‘absolute’ in showing who got it either way2 points

I remember years ago Lee had a massive crash that he was lucky to get out of in a very nice Subaru Impreza. Very silly boy, he's let everyone down when he'd got back to being a crowd favourite and had lots of good sponsors. All thrown away now possibly because of the need for a quick fix, wonder if he's thinking was it worth it. Back to building sites and body building again. Good luck with whatever you do lee, your second time around in speedway looks like it's done.2 points

There is a commer after his dad to separate Martin Dugard from that relationship. I do realise that Martin Dugard is his uncle. Lisa it would be more appropriate of you to comment on my post as a whole rather than one possible grammar error. Lisa is the forum English teacher (said tongue in cheek)2 points

100% luck. Repeating myself, but forecasts change regularly. As you say the forecast this morning is now worse for Lynn today than it was yesterday, but it could easily have gone the other way and improved significantly. There’s just no way of knowing. Another example, our meeting at Foxhall this evening was under no threat yesterday whatsoever, a little rain about but nothing that would even slightly threaten the meeting. This morning, the forecast now for Ipswich is horrendous! This has to be in serious doubt now too. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/u12b4ht3f#?date=2024-05-16 Should always wait until the day of meetings for a more accurate forecast before calling meetings imo.2 points

Yeah I really don't understand why they didn't give Perry a 4th ride. Do people honestly think Poole are worried about losing by 30 points in the return leg?2 points

As frustrating as it was to have the wrong result, amending results later is a can of worms best avoided. If you think speedway looks amateur now, introduce that and it'll be an order of magnitude worse.2 points

All riders have this week been sent a memo showing how to adjust the position of the transponder. It no longer sits on top of the h frame at the top of the forks. it has to face downwards. How the hell did we get to May, at least 2 wrong results, one at Sheffield and one at Glasgow, and not know they are fitted wrong. There is even a pouch behind the fork covers, which is further forward than the h frame, but the memo does not say you cannot use the pouch. With the knowledge of the inconsistent fitting and the resulting false readings , surely the video evidence which is absolute, should be used and the results amended of the two matches affected.2 points

Well for a start we need to know were Lambert will be! Lots will happen between now and the playoffs we can be sure of that!2 points

Craig has been the captain of more teams than this seasons Comets so I assume he has qualities that suit the role such as speaking out in the interests of rider safety when the track isn't right which feeds back into rider confidence resulting in better racing . Depends what the reward centres in your brain value most winning or entertainment. The two can be compatible but less likely if your winning too easily for whatever reason.1 point

Don't think he has enough interest to do that now unfortunately.1 point

No arguments the track looks wet, but the fact they didn't post pictures when cancelling with far better forecasts speaks volumes1 point

The team is doing just fine, Up until the Poole meeting we'd won 60% of all official heats ridden (7 meetings), having 2 Number 1 riders helps. Sam seems to be able to get in front from time to and then ride the wrong line, just learning Edinburgh's reserves are similiar to ours so lets see how they get on against them on Saturday Speedway isn't really a cutthroat sport anyways1 point

They are. The bikes are much more volatile nowadays but also the money generally on offer in the UK compared to abroad means riders just want to stay in one piece for the next meeting in Poland or wherever.1 point

Shame the ref completely missed Batchelor’s blatant roller in heat 12!!!1 point

Batchelor aside the Comets were just not at the races from the gate, the Poole riders made the most of the ripped up starts. Sam Hagon was like a rocket out of them. One team being that far behind to the first turn is not going to produce good racing unfortunately, Comets were a let down but similiarly Poole too good. Would be surprised if Poole get close to losing at home this season. Well done We can't be harsh on Cookie, he will be back to his best on Saturday i'd imagine after 3 long days on the road. Every Comets fan would of taken this start to the season in general.1 point

So the guy who ignored British Speedway for many many seasons is after just a few short weeks back calling out the need to sack A) Young Brits just finding their way and whilst a little out of their depth are there because the the team has been front loaded to include him B A loyal experienced Brit in his testimonial year who currently is a bit of a slump Classy!!1 point

Copied and Pasted off Facebook..... Quick message from club promoter Greg Palmer; Good morning everyone, I hope I find you well. It's been a few weeks since my last message to you all. I'm hoping all being well this time next year we will be providing regular updates, while you are smelling the sweet smell of methanol and hearing tiger feet over the sound system I would just like to update you on how things have been progressing in the background; After talks with Rob Godfrey and the BSPA if all plans fall into place, we should be racing on a Sunday. It's not a day I wanted if I'm honest, however for the future of the club to race it is a Sunday or nothing. My dream was to take Mildenhall to a week night racing slot but with the other established clubs taking the other nights, its a decision from the BSPA which I respect, accept and move on from. Their help along side that of Rob Godfrey, in trying to get Mildenhall back to tapes has been pricless. With that in mind, it is possible we could be hosting up to 15 home meetings for the 2025 season. I've been in constant talks with the Mildenhall stadium owners, working along side each other so no schedules are disrupted and the stadium is used to it's full potential. I have to thank them for their continued support in my quest to get the Fen Tigers back to the tapes. With more meetings comes the need for more track staff. We would like a meeting days to run as smoothly as possible - everyone working in tandem to carrying out tasks, so we can all enjoy a race meeting. To achieve this I'd like 2 fence crews; 1 to put the fence up on the morning of a meeting and 1 to take it down after the meeting is finished. This needs to be a 100% committed team. Too many times in the past it's been left up to a few track staff, which has a knock on effect in every aspect of a race meeting Put simply, if I don't get the numbers for the fence crews and track staff and I don't think it's viable, I will pull the plug. As this is the case, I would like to get the ball rolling as soon as possible. I will be taking names and numbers of people interested from next week. Please contact me through our socials Facebook, Instagram or X (Twitter) or alternatively email neilsoutham082@gmail.com Finally, I want to deliver a brilliant product in 2025 but I can't do that unless I have 100% committed team of people behind me who I can trust to be the stadium race ready. I'm a honest hardworking reliable man and I'd like a group of people similar around me to make the dream of a Championship team come true.1 point
