Glad it’s hammering down. If any club should be afforded some leeway its Workington. First year in the second league, had their star rider injured in horrific circumstances earlier this week and clearly the place to be for up and coming youngsters. were they not also running speedway/sport evenings in the gazebo before they were burgled by the lovely caravan folk. this forum is mental, club does all the right things and gets hammered for rightly calling a meeting that probably would have cost them thousands, early, and everyone’s ready to stick the knife in.

We should sign whoever flies around the NSS next week so we only get comfortably beat there next time instead of slaughtered

Replacement wise for 4 points you can only get a non Brit who has never raced in the UK, or at any level in Poland..... So i'd probably stick with the guys that's scoring well round ashfield

He should be at number 2 however Starke was never meant to perform so badly. At 2 Starke is paired up with Bomber in 3 of his 4 rides so the reality is we are more guaranteed to get 3-3's with him in that heat than having him paired up with Leon and having to rely on him in heat 14. But again you can opt for the "Cami's clueless" option if you think that sounds more probable.

It would be very harsh on Smith to wait until he's out 2+ points so his average, then drop him! Dropping Starke for a 5 points rider, putting Pearson at reserve, may be the only change they need to make.

MPT would be a huge backwards step .TBF he was scoring well for Scunny before his injury but looked awful for us. That for me was one chance too many with KL

Glasgow could easily make the top 4, 2 points behind Workington with a home match in hand, 2 points behind Redcar with 2 home matches in hand. Even have 2 home matches in hand over Oxford (5 points behind).

So I had a wander down to the track today to see the damage from the torrential rain we've been having. As you can see, the track is good enough for a swim but that's about it. So you plymouth fans can settle yourselves down. P.s. I definitely didn't google "flooded speedway track to shut up those muppets from Plymouth".

AB moved at the start 3 times. IMO due to the lack of consistency among referees the ruling should be changed. Every rider knows if they touch the tapes they're either off 15m or replaced by a reserve, while still having to have three rides. So allow them to move as much as they like like once the Greenlight comes on. If you touch the tapes along with your 15m handicap / reserve replacement you also get a fine. £50 in PL and £25 in CL with no financial penalty in NDL as those riders will as they move up, learn not to move. Fines to SRBF

Not like they were level with one another, Scott’s entitle to his line, tungate comes steaming in narrow way too fast to scrub his speed off, always going to the fence and wipes Scott out

TBF in real time I would have excluded Tungate but watching the extensive replays in the bar Scott did try to drop it on Tungate when he had the outside line to use. You could see from his left arm position how hard he pulled it across Tungate. There was no racing room left so contact was always going to be the outcome. I don’t especially rate last night’s referee most of the time but i genuinely feel she made the right decision.

Whatever business acumen Nigel Tolley has he needs to bring it to the Speedway management team, because as things stand it appears whoever makes the decisions at Birmingham Speedway does not have a clue how to pick an actual team, this season is already proving to be another write off and Birmingham will end up with nowt again except for more £££££,s down the drain, and that's the worry how long can Tolley continue throwing money at a losing team ?. I will say again if Nigel Tolley continues then he simply must get an experienced proven manager in, one that knows how to pick/manage a winning team.

Belle Vue Speedway Trust Announcement. Following the events of Monday evening, the Trust has been in discussion with the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund and has agreed to provide Tate's mother with the air fare to travel to the UK, from Australia, to be with her son. The Trust will also contribute to any additional welfare that is required during her stay, over and above that which the SRBF will provide. Whilst it is too early to be precise, the Trust intends to provide further assistance to Tate during his period of rehabilitation, be it in the UK, or back in Australia. All this would not be possible without the tremendous support we receive week in week out from the Supporters of Belle Vue and the unfailing efforts of David Burroughs and his team from the BVSSC. Lemo seems to have the biggest decision to make, who do you go for out of an injured Holder, an injured Kurtz with home track knowledge and an up and down Fricke with a lot of BV knowledge? Knowing Lemo it'll probably be a left field decision.

On the subject of Aussies, there seems to be no shortage of them wanting to come to the UK to race and develop their skills. I would like to think that a lot of this is down to the likes of Jason Doyle (although there may be others) who has always stated that mastering the more technical British tracks is essential for riders at the very top level to have in their skill set. Unlike many Eastern European riders, Aussies are not quitters and will only move on from their team if asked to do so.

I can't believe an Ipswich fan can comment on a rider having a bad night at the NSS with a straight face

I am 99% sure the “ pungent odour “, ( if I can express it that way) came from the Boake-Roberts Abrac Chemical works in Carpenters Road . We used to cycle up from Stratford along Carpenters Road to the Stadium, getting lungfuls of the vile pong as we urged our bikes up the incline. My goodness it was vile, and it was exactly the same smell , albeit in milder form drifting across the stadium when the wind was in a certain direction. Apparently it was well known in the area ( the smell that is ) when my dad was a boy growing up in Bow. As for the Bovril connection, I had an uncle and aunt living in Hackney and I understood the factory manufactured Branston Pickle ( Branston and Bovril were the same company so may have both been made both there) . Anyway the place did pen-and -ink quite a bit but not as bad as Abracs in Carpenters Road. Uncle Fred and Auntie Flo were always coming out with tales about dead mice and things being found in the pickles so with that inside knowledge I’ve always avoided the stuff ! Them was the days in the East End. A great place to grow up in those, days. Wouldn’t change it for the world but wouldn’t want to live there now !

As a Cowley regular for thirty plus years the track record for many years was held by Peter Craven who clocked a time of 63 seconds in 1963. Nobody got near that time for ten years and it wasn't until the track was shortened that a new record was set (George Hunter if I recall?) in 1973. Phil Crump in 1974/75 set a record of 63.2 (?) although the average times were somewhat slower until Dave Perks registered a sub 63 time during his time as "Cheetah". It did emphasise what a special talent Peter Craven was to have held the record for so long...if I remember it was during a Golden Helmet encounter with the great Ove Fundin where all three races registered 63 plus times?

If the ticket prices weren’t enough then the car parking is the straw that broke the camels back, think it’s time we got rid of discovery, with their half arsed approach to the sport, awful camera work and their totally out of touch with reality approach to pricing, we need and deserve better
