  2. Better tracks....apart from BV the Prem doesn't have an awful lot. Champ has Glasgow, Worky, Scunny, Redcar which are all very good.

  3. They say that lightning doesn't strike twice in the the same place. It did at Leicester. As a Sheffield supporter i have to take my hat off to the lions. They took us apart twice in two weeks. But I have to make some observations, not complaints, on what I have seen in the last week. I had never been to Leicester before last week and I must say that I think that it is a gaters track, having said that, having said that to say that there was no passing is not true it is just that it is done in the 30yards comming out of bend 2. Every time the Sheffield riders were in point scoring positions they were passed with some amasing acelerations from the home riders. This must be down to engine set up. I have been around the sport long enough to know that youu can build an engine that will fly on a specific track. I think that that is what the Lions riders have done. The other thing that I noted was the fact that it seemed impossible to ride the wide line. I think that 95% of the racing was done on the inside 30% of the track. This must be down to the track shape and the camber of the corners. Unfortunately this does not lend itself to producing spectical. I must admit the we are spoiled at Sheffield with riders scrapeing the fence every week but it does get exiting. This is not a moan about getting beaten just a few observations. The riders are professionals and shoulld be able to make adjustments to get the best out their equipment. As for them being too friendly, theirs is a very small community and they see each other week in and week out. Add to that there are some very strong friendships away from the track. All that I and everyone else asks is that the gloves come off as they go to the tapes. Having confidence in your fellow riders is an important part of the sport. Once again well done Leicester on two great demolition jobs.

  4. Not trying to upset everyone here on the forum but I wouldn't say this is the main fan base for speedway, it’s just a voice for a few fans, half the people on here pick and choose meetings and aren’t loyal ‘every week go to support your home club’ fan. FYI I go to every home match at foxhall and try to go to what I can away again… people can decide to go to what they want, this isn’t a dig at anyone, just got to take everyone’s comments on here with a pinch of salt and don’t think this is the same view of the mass people who go to meetings.

  5. Even if the new signing decides he is Australian & not British, Edinburgh are still doing more for British riders development than any club who didn't enter the NL/NT. Plus last year they held a NDL series individual when they didn't have to.

  6. He lives in Poland, is married to a Polish girl and only wants to do two leagues so no surprise he doesn't ride here. Nicholls and Bewley have also ducked the UK in the past, maybe it says more about British Speedway than the riders themselves.

  7. In the 60,s and 70,s there was a far more competetive edge to league meetings but there wasnt the situation where riders were team mates one night and opponents the next, i think that has taken away the intensity there used to be.

  13. Offered much better money to ride in a better league in Poland which everyone would take (and if you say you wouldn't you're lying)...felt that track prep in the UK was poor and dangerous (which at some tracks it was) so no longer wanted to ride here...but it was his responsibility to stay and try and save British speedway?! Utterly ridiculous. The Tai bashing by some is so tiresome. Any excuse. It's just boring now. The guy is the most successful rider this country has produced, he has only ever wanted to see British speedway flourish, and our current status as reigning SON champions is down to him wanting things changed from the top down with Team GB. He instigated that. He championed it. Where we are now is due to him. So I'd say personally he has done the complete opposite of not helping British speedway. He has gone on record as saying he would love to further help the sport in this country, the guy is an asset that, if used by the BSPL, would help revolutionise British speedway. But the suits would rather plod along as we are, staring at the abyss...

  14. The other side of that argument is that he could be missing out on additional revenue from fans who don’t want to/can’t attend, if he’s broadcasting the stream..

  15. You must have missed the 500 million IPL viewers turning away from cricket because opposition players sometimes have a laugh with each other. Darts rapidly increasing in popularity? Fake news. Nobody's interested because the players are too friendly during matches. And as for PL football. A sharp decrease in interest because of all the hugging before and after matches, discussions on the pitch, subs from opposition sides having conversations whilst warming up, managers sharing a joke etc. Or maybe they just take no notice because it happens everywhere.

  22. Even it's heyday riders mixed with other. In Gps riders watch races together etc .in Poland over the weekend riders were mixing together.. its always been the same.

  24. Wind up!!😀 I think most clubs are 'sounding out' riders for next season - without being certain of what the league structure and points limit are going to be!! Failing to plan is planning to fail, as they say......

  25. Both TNT and BSN seem to be showing poor match ups at present and totally wasting their time at tracks like Birmingham, Leicester and Kings Lynn where the tracks are not known to provide decent racing.

  26. After the pressure on them in Poland at the weekend's, every week, during the season, it must be light relief to turn up at UK Speedway venues and "enjoy" their evening's racing... Racing with a lot less riding on the result, with, for most riders, zero chance of getting replaced regardless of performances.. (In fact, sometimes the worse you do can actually help you get a job the season after!).. It does all seem very "matey" though doesn't it? Which isn't a good look if you want the viewers to believe they are watching top level professional sport that has some jeapordy, and consequence for winning and losing.. Let's hope the GP's deliver some proper sporting drama and excitement to help showcase the sport...

  28. You are concentrating so much that literally anything can trigger you flinching, whenever I was gate 2 or 3 I would always look forward at the tapes rather than across the guy off 1 or 4, it’s strange but even if you off 1 looking at the magnet and someone off 2 jumps it can still make you jump, you can’t see them as you looking other way but it’s like you can sense a movement, that moment between green light and tapes going up is so intense

  32. Without a decent level of statistics to confirm or deny that is a bold claim. What could easier be argued is that the level of competition within Polish matches is closer and therefore the likelihood of contact occurring is higher

  33. Plenty of takeaways etc on A6 closeish to stadium, I would avoid the Stadium catering at all costs, bery low quality and unless any additional facilities ( which Never has been for SON etc) will be huge queues.

  35. Nothing specific, just the way he said certain things about how the team isn’t performing how they envisaged it and that they’re not all clicking at the same time. Just gave the impression that they may be looking to make changes

  37. Nah I’m not saying it was amazing speedway, but I think British speedway and English people are really negative. For one positive post here you’ll see ten negative. It isn’t Polish speedway, we don’t have tracks, riders, stadia, facilities, money etc here in Britain. It is what it is, with the above mentioned and the fact the guesting system is flawed (I was annoyed that Brennan was helping our rivals!) we just have to take whatever we have and try and make it work. All I’m saying is at least we still have speedway, people can be moa about it all they want, but you’ll be moaning more in 10 years when the sport doesn’t exist here, like all things in life, enjoy it whilst it’s here.

  38. Agree British speedway is on its backside such a shame when I can remember going to watch Poole at White City,Wimbledon etc but must say I've no time for Tai Woffinden may be a nice chap but didn't help British speedway when he run away to Poland years ago giving up riding here as I'm sure many on here will remember.

  41. A sensible choice... These riders never know from one year to the next what team changes will come in over here, and take them out of a job... Always best to look after No1... And, let's be honest, he isn't missing much is he? Edit: Apart from obviously having the chance to have a good laugh and a joke in the pits with Ryan, Sam and Max...

  45. Another great Sunday evening meeting from Poland.. I almost feel some sympathy for the UK promoters having to follow on, on a Monday... Great stadia, big enthusiastic crowds, a sizeable away following, truly top level riders in almost every heat. (With all belng contracted to both teams on show), and professional looking managers and mechanics dressed in club merchandise... With most races contested by at least two riders, with the third often not too far behind given at lesst three riders in most races are of a "very good level".. Add in a very good junior and it can be all four in contention to possibly still change their individual positions as they enter bend three, lap four in lots of races... A lot of boxes ticked for the viewers, fans in the stadium, sponsors and advertisers.. Not quite the same amount of boxes ticked too often, sadly, on a Monday evening on TNT..

  50. No! No! No! We must keep team racing with seven riders per team, 15 heats of four lap speedway, and maintain the excellent facility to upgrade your team by using better riders from your competitors on an adhoc, make it up as you go along, basis... The riders should be expected to have at least £20k of kit available at all times and the promoters can then pay them several times that.... And do so through an admission fee that bears little correlation to the standing and credibility of the sport, but has everything to do with paying out those tens of thousands to riders so they can be fully professional in a sport that barely generates 20,000 visits a week from 20 matches across the country... Keep that fantastic operating model that devalues any and all competition's, and there really is no need for any change at all... Rinse and Repeat, roll on 2026... Next on the agenda. Find the next cannon fodder team to make the top tier up to seven teams, rather than doing anything radical...
