Unlucky Aces, started decent and thought we were in for a long night but we turned it round after heat 8 and kept the foot down to get the job done. Tough conditions for both riders early on and not as big crowd as I expect but weather might had played a part. I want to mention this though… my Polish mother in law came over and she has a close friend who was diagnosed with cancer recently, and she has an operation next month. Her favourite rider is Bewley so today after the meeting we waitied to see if he would give us a minute of his time. He was very polite and listened to the story of her friend, he put his bags down and wrote a message out directed to her, wishing her all the best and signing it. For me, it’s something he didn’t have to do especially after that meeting and not the best performance but he was still willing to be a kind human to help another out and make her day. I wished him all the best for the weekend and off he went, sometimes you can get caught up in the racing but these guys are just humans like us and whether Ipswich won or lost tonight I would remember that gesture of kindness over speedway. Good luck Saturday Dan B.19 points

I hate that we are going into one of the major meetings in our season with 3 guests, one is necessary because of an injury to Max Perry but to have two of our riders missing because of international duty is crazy. I want to see my 7 riders no offence to the guests but you never know what you are going to get. If we lose a meeting and it is our 7 riders then we all accept that but 4 riders and three guests is too much of a gamble.4 points

Tedious, but I suspect it will rumble on until we can fight it out on the track.3 points

I don’t care if a rider has a bad night and doesn’t score or gets 1or 2 points as long as he gives it his best and that didn’t happen with Kurtz last night, in his first 2 rides he was shutting off down the straights, it wasn’t till his last ride he actually looked like the rider he can be, in my book that’s unacceptable, we paid over £120 with petrol to watch 14 riders give their best and Kurtz and to a point sayfutinow didn’t give it, zischie was had a poor night but at least you could see he was trying and pretty much riding to his ability,I feel sorry for any BV fans that made the trip last night, you were short changed, also considering the size of the crowd and it was big the atmosphere felt flat3 points

Some of the riders with certain attitudes are a cancer in our sport and like all cancers they need removing. To have riders minds (and often bodies) elsewhere is not what the fans pay to watch. There's no buy in from many of the riders and if they don't buy in why should the fans? Come and support your team... but your Captain is really only interested in another competition, your number 1 earns more money on a Sunday in another country so won't be riding on the Saturday night... and there's far too many examples to continue to list on here, we all know what goes on. I DO NOT blame the riders, they have to do what is right for themselves as self employed participants but in effect they are competing businesses! But are there any other team sports that operate with self employed participants? Like I said in an earlier post, riders should be salaried employees it's the only way to get buy in. I know it will never happen and for that reason team Speedway will probably die a lingering death. The days of understanding that your rider had bigger things on his mind are now unfortunately a luxury of the past and has probably, in part, led to the dwindling crowds we see today. It's just not acceptable in todays age of league only Speedway.3 points

Bomber! Going for a world championship next weekend, hit the deck tonight, has had a poor night but still fronts up in front of the camera with a very honest assessment... meanwhile we're still waiting to hear from the Belle Vue captain after last night 🤔2 points

Between the depleted Glasgow line-up and this track, it just makes a mockery of the sport. Abandon the meeting and replay it on another date. I couldn’t make it due to work, but this even renders my BSN subscription a waste of money.2 points

“These fixtures are only qualifiers we’ll be there when it really matters” ”Let’s wait until September” Well Belle Vue stank in the “qualifiers”, and then they stank in the play offs too. Who’d have thunk it! Where is Acebelle and Ouch by the way? They seemed to have disappeared..2 points

Also begs the question, if everyone knew this would happen, why was this the first set of play off's to be staged with two riders going for podium places in the GP 2 days later, with a poor forecast. Decision was announced 3 days after the last GP round so it wasn't a surprise that 2 of the Belle Vue team would be up for some serious silver wear 2 days later2 points

After 26 years of failure, Kurtz has been instrumental in winning the Aces TWO titles and played a huge part in getting them to play offs year on year... He obviously can be bothered then you could summise...2 points

Perhaps the novelty factor would lead to more interest then? I know that's probably naive but I'm trying to be hopeful...!2 points

my pennies worth first of all massive congrats to Ipswich, won easily and deservedly so, wont blame the track as it was the same for both teams emil 5 points, bewley 4 points yet its all Brady this, Brady that, wasnt good enough from any of the riders that have more important meetings coming up, sadly british speedway is what it is, the lowest standard league in the world, i dont blame any 3 for being to cautious, but also emil wasnt gating, brady wasnt gating, dan wasnt gating, and if you wasnt gating you wasnt doing anything. we have been bad all year at ipswich with kurtz and dan being poor then so not sure why the shock now tbh. again well done ipswich, belle vue need wholesome changes next year which i think we will get2 points
-
Quite a bit of quite frankly ridiculous criticism of Kurtz & Bewley, the track was treacherous and if you didn't gate it was game over. Don't blame any rider for not taking risks let alone those two. Well done Ipswich, boooo to the weather.2 points

I'm intrigued to know what people think they should be paying to watch professional sportsmen, including some of the best in the world ? As well as watching speedway, I am a regular at stock car racing and football. My football team are in League 1 (3rd tier), and the match day ticket price is £30. Stock car racing, depending on the formulas racing as there are different levels, varies generally from £20-25. When it is a bigger meeting, such as the British Championship or the European the the prices is closer to £30, and this weekend is the World Championship with advance tickets at £42 and on the day price of £48. In comparison to this, I don't think that £25 is too high a price for top league speedway, and would expect an increase for the play off semis and final.2 points

Long gone are those days... Whisper it, but watching Brady and Dan howling around the boards can actually now be "average" to watch given they do it so often.. I stopped going to Kirky Lane when watching Jason Crump howling into the bends quicker than anyone else by miles, also became "average" to watch, as he did it so often... When I watch (UK) speedway it has very little riding (pardon the pun), on it given the Mickey Mouse rules and lack of credibility, therefore it is only the racing that gets me to attend... And I attend the play offs as usually it feels like an "event" you are attending with decent crowds... Monday night was a dreadful spectacle in front of a half empty grandstand, and tonight's offering on track even worse... Anyone watching at home who are non speedway fans, but casually watching due to its Semi Final status would have done well to get to Heat 10 tonight, let alone Heat 15.. Sad to see the sport in its current state, but not sure those running it have the capability to turn it around, given they are responsible for the current state in the first place..2 points

And right there is why I will always want zmarzlik over Kurtz to be world champion, zmarzlik would never of put a ride in like that, he would of busted a gut even for a single point, Kurtz didnt try2 points

As a Poole fan and who went to the meeting. I sat in the big stand and didn't hearing anything, but that didn't mean this didn't happen, if it did then yes it needs to be dealt with by the club, as people shouting that are not welcome in our sport, this isn't football. We have young family's attending and they don't need be exposed to this. But this needs to be dealt with behind closed doors and not aired in public now after a number of press releases from Glasgow, it only adds to the fire of some and it will cause incitement. Speedway is struggling as it is and does not need further bad press in my opinion! Need to draw a line under this now and the club deal with any supporters caught will be thrown out the stadium going forward. Lets make one thing clear this isn't the Poole club I have supported for 35 years! we welcome all traveling fans to Wimborne Road!2 points

and as if by magic one of the people who is a massive part of the problem (head in sand) comes along with a laughing reaction those who run sponsor and are involved just cant see the damage thats being done to still be running semi finals of all three competitions in mid september is gross negligence2 points

The lowest I have paid anywhere this year is £18, but most tracks you are looking at a minimum of £20. Buxton promoter once told me that at his 'domestic' meetings he rubs 6/7 lesser formulas as he knows their 'pay to race' fees will cover his outgoings, so any paying spectators are profit. F1 meetings would have 'payouts' of around £4-5k in start and prize money on top of the other costs. Crowd sizes vary wildly depending on the formula with literally just a few hundred at some non-F1 meetings, up to several thousand at bigger meetings. The fact that you think speedway has higher outgoings surely suggests that the prices should be higher, so the fact that admission to both is similar is a positive for speedway.1 point

There is no way in the world it should have been called off … no riders or the referee even looked at the track …. To many riders these days can’t stand a bit of a tricky track because of the weather mainly Aussies to be fair Doyle , King , Brennan , Ellis and Thompson all overtook riders last night …. Even Edwards from the graveyard gate 4 rode around the outside on the first 2 bends to join Doyle ….. some riders wanted it and some didn’t Lidsey away from the vast open spaces of his home track is a gating tart and was never likely to pass or attempt to pass anyone I would have suggested if there wasn’t a GP next weekend then Bewley would have had a proper go at getting past Dan T but he was content to sit third Kurtz is Belle Vue captain ….. King said afterwards the pressure to perform as captain is high and Brady didn’t bother … shutting off all the time and even when he had the coveted inside gate he didn’t bother …. If your captain can’t be interested what message does that send to the rest of the team ? Let’s say Kurtz signs again for the aces … would any young rider look up to him knowing that when it comes to the crunch he can’t be bothered1 point

It kind of goes against the pre meeting rallying cries about giving it a big effort. Don't talk about giving it the big 100% effort to get to the final if your actions on the night indicate otherwise. Each fan can make their own mind up, I've seen Brady trap and beat Emil / Jason at Ipswich a few times so he can and does do it. Given the track i would have expected him to put the big effort into gating and getting in front. He diodnt seem to be able to gate - nor did Emil for that matter. Anyway good that the Witches had no complacency and we got the result we sort of all expected anyway - who will they meet in the final!!1 point

guests for injuries are a necessary evil although r/r should be compulsory if its not your number 1 or a reserve but to schedule a plum semi final on a night when riders are in a different country is utterly ridiculous its deeply worrying how some people just accept guests when they should only be used when absolutely necessary1 point

Dreadful spectacle unfortunately, I’ve got it on mute which has improved things slightly.1 point

He has to ride every track presented to him as does every rider, some smooth some not, it’s only the extraleague tracks which are smooth, some of the 3rd league polish tracks are sometimes rough and ready and when he goes there for test matches or individuals which is what they do in Poland and he is always 100% and just the point there is nothing wrong with this track, the harder you ride the easier it is1 point
