If people think Covid is fake they really are utter numpties. These people really do walk amongst us. Luckily I am up to date in all my flu/covid jabs so the virus isn’t too bad for me and I am on the finishing straight back to health. But it’s very unpleasant and `I have had three solid days where it’s been quite bad. Not as bad as flu which can take you down for 2-3 weeks. Everyone should get fully vaccinated for themselves and their families. Anyway back on topic and Up The Pirates! Let’s beat those Bears and get our first trophy!9 points

We had a British 3 time World Champion who chose not to ride in the UK.... He wasnt even a custodian for Speedway in his own country, never mind the world... I like Tai, and he was no different than Nicki P, Greg Hancock and even Jason Crump who all did the same as World Champions, (and their English is very good)... It wasn't, and isn't, any World Champs responsibility to promote British Speedway, that is the responsibility of the promoters and riders who do ride over here...5 points

well.... that just proves he wasnt over the line and was on it5 points

Also you don't always need to have a pass to have good racing, like H15.4 points

He won’t be riding unfortunately. But I’ll be there to cheer them on anyway.4 points

So it's a sad farewell to speedway at Perry Barr. The local council/lease holders couldn't wait to get the bulldozers on site and have already erected a wall around the site to keep the travellers out. Will we ever see a return of the the red B or will it be left in history as what was a great sport. Although I wasn't a long time fan, I've had a few good years going there and working there and meeting many people whose club this was. To them this was their whole world, who spent many many hours and years trying to keep it going. In the end it just wasn't to be but, better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all. So farewell brummies wherever you are until we meet next time around.4 points

NO, it's a 'deadly' virus - one so 'deadly' it only has a survival rate of OVER 99.8% & you have to take a test to 'prove' you have it. Then when the test is + (which of course it always is as the tests used are flawed) to defeat the 'deadly' virus you stay home for a few days - just like you did in the good old days when the flu was about.. If only SS had taken the 25th 'safe & effective' boooooster injection & worn a face nappy 24/7.3 points

A Good win for the Pirates. Track was a little slicker tonight but still some fast times. With owner Matt Ford in attendance and giving a strong team talk, the Pirates achieved their aim of a 12/14 point advantage. BTW Lawson is available for Friday. (also BTW I have my covid jab on 18th!)2 points

Ha ha!! Not for me Mr Machine, seeing the Birmingham promotion in full swing has put me off for life 😂😂2 points

Having all riders fit at the end of the season is the key . Redcars side is ransacked when they needed to be at full strength to have a chance .2 points

You won't have seen this on the BBC, so let me educate you. You're welcome. The CDC has confirmed that Covid Virus Has Never Been Isolated. The CDC officially proved there Is no proof of Covid's existence in response to an FOIA request. What was experienced by people starting in 2000 could very well have been the common flu which interestingly disappeared in 2020. Without isolating the virus and then comparing it to what is in diseased tissue and non diseased tissue, we cannot prove that a certain microbe caused a certain disease. On June 7, 2021, the CDC had stated then also that their searches could not find any evidence that Covid-19 had been isolated. Now we know that in August of 2024, that we still have the issue of it not being isolated. What they found was influenza A and some were influenza B. The researcher concluded after not finding any evidence of Covid being isolated that, "We have now come to the firm conclusion through all our research and lab work, that the COVID 19 was imaginary and fictitious. The flu was called Covid and most of the 225,000 dead were dead through comorbidities such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, emphysema etc. and they then got the flu which further weakened their immune system and they died.2 points

Heat 13, Emil and Doyle to win us the title would seem fitting! 🙏🏼🏆 obviously I want to win it selfishly, but I would love the boys to win it more for Chris Louis’ commitment to the club and his late father John Louis and dedicate it to him 👌🏻2 points

Oh dear, Steve, you obviously haven’t spent much time on the General Discussions section recently. Apparently it’s very clear that Covid was all a big con (similar to that Climate Change rubbish) inflicted upon us by the shadowy cabals who need to keep us in line. Obviously you’ve got nothing but a heavy cold. Don’t normally root for the Pirates but just for you hope they do the business tonight.2 points

Jenkins has beaten bigger and better riders than Becker the last couple of seasons. Seems some have short memories. The stats don’t lie and Edwards isn’t better than Jenkins on any metric. Anyway, Edwards is now in the team and Jenkins isn’t so it’s all a moot point really. Hopefully Edwards has a good meeting tomorrow and contributes! I’m sure he will.2 points

Steve you had better call the midwife coz that's a pregnancy testing kit!! 😂2 points

When it matters, in the play-offs, he has so far been good, 4+2, 5+3 and 6 - clearly outscoring his opponents, I don't disagree in that he has had one or two bad meetings - needs a good 4-6 score tomorrow as well but I feel saying hes been just ok is a little harsh on him!2 points

I’m sorry but this just isn’t true and I disagree with Taps here for once. Edwards has been “ok” at best. Certainly wouldn’t say superb. He was outstanding against Birmingham, but that was an exception rather than the rule. He’s had some dreadful meetings. Yes he’s a rising star and nobody should be expecting too much, but he’s now one of the more experienced rising stars and has been riding fairly well in the championship. Jenkins didn’t start the season fit. He then had further numerous falls which completely ruined his season. Often riding through the pain barrier and being strapped up to the eyeballs, he’s tried to battle through it before another fall made him call time on his season early. Despite this, Jenkins from his 13 meetings has still averaged MORE than Edwards has from his 18 meetings this season. Certainly isn’t any kind of “Brucie bonus” to have picked up Edwards instead of Jenkins. Definitely fortunate though that he was available to fill the vacancy I’ll concede that! The other options would have left Ipswich badly exposed in that area.2 points

Its not that far away either, ten minutes from the town centre. What might well prove difficult is getting Coventry or P'boro speedway fans there regularly as its an hour to both cities. I wish whoever takes it on the very best and hope it succeeds.1 point

I don’t think Salty is. He said apparently in General discussions there are people like BluPanther saying Covid is a hoax and it’s just a bad cold. Absolutely ludicrous and completely uneducated. I hope your wife made a full recovery Tyretrax.1 point

So are you saying people who had to be put on a ventilator to keep them alive, including my wife, only had a bad cold.1 point

Think your well of the mark with these remarks, nobody in the street outside of Poland knows what speedway is these days.Ask any in Poland and they will rattle off speedway riders for fun,ask somebody in Uk for British stars you won’t get many answers. That DJ maybe😂😂.As 3 timesWorld Champion he’s is not really a great advert is Tai.1 point
-
Your view does not agree with the FIM. The world champs has never been about the best riders & is no different to athletics in that regard. They are interested in growing the business and selling the events.1 point
-
But you're not a 6 x World Champion who is responsible for promoting our sport to the world as that Champion. He's a terrible advert for our sport off track with his inability to communicate with anybody outside of Poland. His on track ability is not in question nor is whether he's a nice guy or not, like you say he does come across as a nice guy... but that's easy when you're always winning. "Me big happy" just doesn't cut it when communicating with the world's media. Tai will get you column inches Zmarzlik's responsibility as custodian of the World Championship is to be seen outside of his own country at the PCMT, Czech Golden Helmet etc. And not price his appearance fee so high that nobody can afford to book him.1 point

I am always amazed that at a tense part of the meeting Abbi stands there with her mic going shall we try and get a word with x - I think i'd be saying sod off to her!1 point

Personally I think the whole 'on their phones' comment by Dickson has been blown way out of proportion, for me the point he was trying to make was that some of his riders had their heads down and needed cajoling hence the team meeting. Despite how he prepares his track when we race there I have a lot of time for him, you always get honesty when he speaks and he is always very gracious to the opposition. He wears his heart on his sleeve and I'd suggest if a microphone gets put under his nose while feelings are running high during a Play Off final then you will probably hear something a bit juicy, probably why TNT did that.1 point

If he rides like he did at times for Birmingham it might not be!!1 point

Oh I agree and Emil conceded that himself. Just saying he was unfortunate because although he caught a bit of unseen grip, Douglas had almost ground to a halt in front of him which gave Emil nowhere to go but in to him. He was unlucky.1 point

The whole sport is based on what individual promoters want to do... They even pick their divisions to race in, even if clearly too strong, or nowhere near strong enough, for that particular league.. For a pro sport, there are simply too many people who see it as an expensive hobby, rather than a business, so therefore, because they spend so much for hardly any material financial reward, or even local public awareness of any "success" they may get, they make up rules to circumnavigate what a "normal proper pro sport" would allow, thus driving a coach and horses through the sports credibility... It is quite a ludicrous situation that people willing to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds then devalue the very competitions they want to win, however, you, can see why they want to win them, regardless of their stature, when they spend hundreds of thousands of pounds!! I cannot think of another pro team sport in the UK with such a small following, small financial reward, a lack of sponsors from "outside" the sport, and such a small amount of public recognition, both locally and nationally.. (And definitely no other team sport has such an incredible operating model)... It is truly ironic that the very people who "save the sport" by spending so much, (who all love speedway and are well meaning), are the very people that prevent growth, and higher finanical rewards for success, due to the way they run things... When all are focused in what is good for UK Speedway, and not necessarily what is ideal for themselves, the sport may have a chance of moving forwards... Seven figure costs are met by the promoters each season as a collective, on riders alone, so surely now is the time to get that huge, (and for such a small sport a truly incredible outlay), to work for the sports' growth?1 point

Peterborough has a large Polish population and Mick Bratley went to the city Polish club and gave away free tickets for Panthers at the Showground. He reported that one person took up the offer, so good luck with that?1 point
