  1. Heard plenty saying it is a good side and should be up there. Not only Glasgow fans saying this. I haven’t seen one saying we will win the treble have you or did you just make that up.

  4. Well that might well be the case but the Agm in January roughly 2 months to the start of the season a so called professional sport and we don’t even no if it’s one big league one two leagues again with potential 5 teams in the PL with no tv deal either what positive spin can you put on this ?? If I was a potential sponsor I’d think shambles and walk away

  5. Remember the play off semi final against Oxford at Ashfield when he left Pijper in against Boughen. The pair crashed with Pijper possibly lucky not to get excluded. However he wasn't fit enough to go in the rerun and Complin was brought in. He put in a great ride which turned the meeting in our favour and took us to the final, the one we won. CB got out of jail that night.

  6. Worky / Northside have been chosen to host the FIM European 125 championship in August. Maybe a minor FIM meeting, but if things go well and the bigwigs are impressed, may lead to bigger FIM meetings being held at Workington in the future ?

  7. I always think that it is fantastic that after each AGM they are all on the same page... Sadly, it's always from the wrong effing book!!!

  10. Heckmondwike could be an option for a new club in the premier league. But there’s just 3 concerns with it . It’s a 90 metre track . Their average crowd is nowhere near as big as Ipswich and worst of all , they’re only prepared to compete in the championship. Cycle speedway… it’s the future

  11. The longer this goes on the more damage gets done to the Leagues.

  12. Looks good to me. Only surprise is that some Poole fans haven't posted that you must be one of the favourites.

  13. As much I praise my club for putting out a statement committing themselves to the premiership, I really struggle to see what actually is the premiership. As it stands it's Leicester, Belle Vue, Kings Lynn. Being commited to that is something I am not looking forward to. If we can add Ipswich and Sheffield to the mix we're getting somewhere, but as of now we have no idea what's going on. I'm just so frustrated that every single fan has seen this coming, for years in fact. We all knew Birmingham would shut soon, we all knew that Oxford would drop the premiership but it's almost like the powers at be are surprised! The idiots that run this sport have clearly been living in fantasy world and haven't been prepared for this situation at all. It's embarrassing and complete chaos.

  16. Yes especially Belle Vue and Kings Lynn (although I wouldn't expect anything else from Buster) because at least them two clubs don't have any ownership issues to resolve and know they are running in 2026.

  22. For me it should be Thomson, Castanga, Grahn and Wood that complete the team. Maybe doesn’t use all of the available points but I think it would be pretty strong. Every rider capable of adding to their average.

  24. Thank you. Lots of short breaks in Kings Lynn this year = ten meetings at the AFA including four Young Stars. Best meeting I saw was Belle Vue (b fixture) because of the high skill levels from Bewley and Kurtz and how Stars did what they did to hold on. Saw some great (if unpredictable) races with Young Stars. Scott was sublime times, Harrison so committed and Rushen’s joy for speedway was infectious. Don’t think I ever drove back to my hotel for a pint feeling disappointed with what I had seen. It was good for me that twice stars and Y Stars raced within a couple of days of each other.

  26. Tigers fans have already decided that they've won the treble with a weaker side than last season so there's no point in the Monarchs even entering a team this year. What say you Edinburgh fans?

  33. Strength in depth could work .Not a bad Team.IMO.Thrte biggest trouble is that they don’t have big home track advantage.

  34. I would be pretty happy with that team, strongest reserve pairing in the league maybe not as strong at the top end with Jake Allen but I think a lot of teams will be weaker there with these new rules. think those reserves could win you matches and worse case scenario one moves up then Mulford going to reserve would arguably be the strongest reserve in the league.

  35. Well I think it’s a solid team, the 5 younger lads in the team are all on the up so should be worth watching. Hell even I might go and watch occasionally!

  36. The way British riders are signing for European clubs it could well end up where you have the tracks but not enough riders. You cannot blame any rider looking elsewhere as they have to put themselves first and they need to know their income stream to cover costs, mechanics and line up sponsors etc none of which can wait until the eve of a new season. The delay in finalising arrangements in the Premiership is damaging the sport on so many levels and has wide ranging implications for riders, sponsors, team set up and for clubs who rent the stadia, what can they tell the owners? These landlords will have budgets and cashflow forecasts to complete and part of that is needing to know what the revenue stream will be. If speedway teams cannot declare than the stadia owners may well look elsewhere. Short track is doing very well in Australia and it would not be beyond the realms of possibility to introduce team racing or other two and four wheeled sports filling the void caused by the Premiership teams If only the fools in charge realised how their actions seriously undermine every aspect of the sport but they are so insular in their thinking and the rest of the business world which is materially affected by these delays etc. is lost on the BSPL

  37. Looking forward to a trip to Plymouth next year hopefully.. not managed to get there yet. It definately looks quaint. Is the track anything like St.Austell?

  38. The fact that phone calls were made to Cradley and Peterborough who don't even currently have a track shows the level of magnitude of the ostrich approach to things.

  39. Bob Dugard lost tens of thousands of pounds every year running the Eagles. In the end, he pulled the club out of the top division. Four seasons in the NDL followed and brought on track success but costs were high. That promotion pulled out at that point which suggests it wasn’t highly profitable. Then the ill-fated Jordan promotion. So for many years, Eastbourne struggled financially with insufficient crowds to make it pay. And those who know their history will tell you closure due to unprofitable operations has been part of the Arlington story under both Bob and his father

  40. The problem with the BSPL committee members is they’re not looking to take speedway forward or even protect it’s position. They join the committee purely to protect their own interest and get a favourable decision when dodgy dealings raise their heads. It’s no surprise to me to see two jump ship once the waves get choppier. We nearly lost the TV deal that has just lapsed but thankfully Adrian came in at the eleventh hour to save at least something. The gratitude show to him by the committee was to continually sideline him on his many proposals (independent body, junior development, streamlined rule book and competition structure to name a few) so in the end he turned his attention to other business avenues. As a none speedway man he, as is always the case, couldn’t join the old pals club that have presided over the demise of our wonderful sport.

  41. It’s the same company that leases Foxhall stadium off the owners. You only have to look at the work done on the heath to see that Spedeworth under Dean Wood is a decent promotion to do business with. It does show the major issues the sport has when for years a speedway stadium Eastbourne won’t allow speedway to be ran there even the the owners are a speedway family. Couple that with Louis a guy who bleeds speedway getting out tells you all you need to know.

  42. 1,000,000% that 👆! Not one of them had the foresight to have any kind of plan in place as to what to do if/when the tv deal came to an end. The remaining PL promoters are in a state of complete denial. The desperation shown in trying to get a 6th club has been beyond embarrassing. There's been absolutely no leadership from the top, with 2 of them jumping the burning ship.

  46. I was saddened to hear the news of the passing of Brian. I have known him since he rode at Workington in the 1970s and he was always exciting to watch. But I got to know him better in Redcar days, through my "gangs" road trips there over recent years. And Brian ALWAYS treated the Comets fans like myself with great respect. He always made a huge fuss with us from the moment we entered the arena, right down to ensuring the Comets fans got priority in the bar over any leftovers from the sponsors buffet ! Despite some of my gang asking him some very direct questions, he would always give them an honest answer. Not many non Redcar fans knew, but his involvement with Redcar even stretched as far as he personally emptying the bins after every meeting ! Rest in peace Brian me old mate. The Workington "gang" will miss you lots.

  47. So, Leicester has done what the BSPL/ACU should have done weeks ago, but the latter didn't have the spine or the gumption to do it. Shame on them, and good on Leicester I'd also add that it's a very well-worded and clear statement

  48. Hook has upped his average every year he's been over here, so would be a good decision to retain him. While he may not find it so easy in the top 5, every rider has to make that step up eventually, unless you sign a career reserve. Besides you don't need all 7 riders to improve their averages to have a successful season, even if Hook can maintain his average in the top 5, that would be considered progress. Also from a purely "moral" standpoint, it'd be a shame for a rider to be dropped because he did too well!
