They got the name following conversations with local people as the thing they kept hearing when mentioning Northampton speedway was ”wear the fox hat”.8 points

Having gone to meet the riders and having heard from the new promoters I have to say my first impression is that I think the club is in very good hands. Chris Louis had really pushed the club to new professionalism levels and commercial success. He and Julie deserve a lot of credit and I thank them both for their efforts Richard Coleman spoke very openly and honestly and he is definitely a very strong leader with a clear vision. He believes like most fans that the way forward is for an independent ruling body to stop the self interest ruining the sport. it’s going to be a very interesting seeing how the top table deal with this breath of fresh air.4 points

I know Paul from Birmingham. I found him to be very approachable and knowledgeable. He constantly mingled with the fans, seeking their views and opinions and most importantly, seeking to take those views snd opinions on board. I hope this is going to be a great success snd with Paul at the helm, I am very optimistic.3 points

They were originally know as the brafield flying foxes, before the name was changed to the brafield badgers.3 points

I am Northampton born and bred and despite a lack of publicity (although the name and facebook page appearing yesterday) trust me there is a lot of talk locally even from non speedway fans , and in my humble opinion once it hits social media with blanket coverage they will hopefully reach 10000s of people with just 1 click , and once that happens news outlets and local TV will be all over it2 points

Must admit Foxes is a weird choice. As others have pointed out that name is associated with Leicester and Leicestershire. I've been on google to look up any link with Northampton and all it comes up with is their rivalry with Leicester! Seeing as they will be racing against Leicester that might be a bit of a strange one explaining to the newcomer that their opponents are called the foxes! Perhaps the BSPL (who it is quite obvious are the ones running this) Have taken inspiration from the mess that is going on at Leicester City FC and thought Foxes would be ideal for us. Or maybe Morris or Godfrey saw a dead fox on the side of the road on their last visit to the raceway!!2 points

Scunny team is a bit unbalanced at the minute in that they only have 1 strong heat leader at 1 and 5 and on last nights showing the important 3 and 4 pairing wasn't strong enough away from the EWR. After getting 10 heats in by 8:15pm we got an electrical delay and on a very cold evening should maybe have gone to green flag starts sooner. After not grading during the delay we got 2 heats in after the resumption of racing and then had a grading break. Scunny using a tac sub added to the overall meeting duration with Pickering having 3 rides on the trot in 11, 12 & 13 which may have prompted the grading break before 13. Think the meeting finished around 21:50 so the last 5 heats took about 95 minutes by which time I was pretty darn cold. Roy Clarke intimated rabbits may have been responsible for the electrical problem which prompted a picture in my mind of the Ware Rabbit running round the ECCO Arena.2 points

I can't see a thread for this anywhere but the field is almost complete. Chris Harris, Peter Kildemand, Tom Brennan, Kyle Howarth, Justin Sedgmen, Nick Morris, Tate Zischke, Danny King, Dan Thompson, Adam Ellis, Victor Palovaara, Dan Gilkes. Being broadcast on BSN1 point

The line-up matters very very much. These "Big Guns" need to be less selfish with their time for a great cause that is there for them. If anything happens, they'd be quick sharp on the blower for a hand out. All monies don't stretch very far in 2026 so an afternoon of their time wouldn't go a miss.1 point

It wouldn’t surprise me if Dan Gilkes is still troubled by last seasons injury. Not sure about averages but perhaps Kyle Newman could offer short term cover.1 point

Dan gilkes pulled out of Ben fund not sure what facility Poole should get if he's not fit for 1st match of the season if any? Same for fraser bows who is rumoured not to be fully fit1 point

Yup, my bad! Good spot. I would like to predict Northampton's first season as a successful one both on and off track. 👌1 point

Yep if someone says 'the foxes' in a sporting reference then I automatically think of Leicester! 🙈1 point

And let's hope for the sake of British Speedway that it is a success and drives new investment in the sport over here. It's obvious that 2026 is a year of compromise and survival at Premiership level. Of course, things should have been done differently and more transparently. Perhaps things have not panned out as expected. I hope Northampton gets enough support from the existing speedway community to get them to the point of generating sufficient ongoing support.1 point

Like they have with others with a similar outlook? The 360 podcast with Rob Lyon was interesting in so much that he outlined many of the issues that the promoters wanted to tackle and most of them were regular issues brought up on here... Therefore, maybe with the him and Mark Lemon now directors, there is now actually a recognition that there is a need for change, but, as well, also the desire to make those changes to move the sport forward...1 point

If there was anybody local to Leicester involved in the sport at the top level they would have known this 🤷♂️ Having said that it's pretty common knowledge in the sporting world1 point

Good for him. He take flak on here but I think he's a great commentator & enjoyable to listen to, better than a monotone nerd/dullard🙂1 point

I have been working on it for around a year but don't get that much time to work on it for various reasons. Trying to get it to a point where it is a bit more tidy so I can get other developers to help and get AI tools to do some of the more generic tasks. I will attach some screenshots of some static pages I have so far, but the data is fixed at the moment, I need to integrate the database to get real data to show up.1 point
