Crikey. I wondered why the “official” British Speedway social media uploaded all the other Premiership clubs’ press and practice activity and excluded Ipswich. Now we know why 😂 Good luck Mayfield, you’ll bloody well need it!! Isn’t this refreshing though? Out with the old, in with the new!

Back in the day, I remember you often had top riders missing in the premier league for stuff at weekends but legit things like world longtrack series, world under 21 qualis etc. I remember Newport missing Glenn Cunningham on a few Sundays for world long track events and Wato, you don't mind if its a couple of times for a legit reason. As years have progressed the absences have become more ridiculous, missing a meeting for your club as your Polish club wants you at a photo shoot and press and practice and what have you. Its pathetic. It really is gutting to see what a laughing stock the sport is nowadays. I'm not sure if such a slump has happened before in the 60s, 70s or 80s but the state of the sport now compared to the years I followed (90s and 00s) is something that I can't see a way back from. Promoters are mostly to blame, when things started slipping in the winter instead of nipping those issues in the bud there and then, they buried the heads in the sand and this is the result of it.

Good Team Performance to get the season up and running, Every Rider getting at least a paid win apart from Nicholls but he'll get it right at home eventually imo. King's Lynn have problems already, No member of the tail end scored a point against an opponent until Heat 14. The youngsters will come good but the KL promotion are asking too much too soon imo as they're racing against riders who've got years of experience over them.

Chapman/Godfrey time to go. We’re forever going to be stuck in this rut of complete rot while these old hands still have an active control. No disrespect to them btw!! They’ve all done their bit and put money in, but we HAVE to move on for the good of this sport in this country. We’re at a crossroads and it’s time to be ruthless.

A stream can never beat being there. I'm the same as Racing Jason 72 and buy streams for meetings I'd never be going to but attending those I can.

That’s the way to do it. Implement something and post on socials for maximum effect/ awareness. Other promotions seem happy to implement things quietly whilst most don’t even implement. Love the streaming idea btw. All allies welcome.

For me, he is exactly what British Speedway needs - but it needs the attitude of the existing promoters to change. Sadly, I've seen little to suggest that British Speedway is nothing but perfectly content with its current amateurish and low-key social setup for them and their mates.

Or it could be that Ben barker isn’t the only one not happy about this situation and a couple of those Ipswich riders happen to be in the same championship team as barker but whatever it is Ipswich have taken a positive step to resolve it

Normally up in the Whip Street Motors box between first and second bend, but our old box was leaking and was ripped out in the winter and replaced with a new one and the barstewards haven’t given me the keys yet so afraid I’m slumming it down with the rest of the peasants 😭😂🤪 so we’ll be down in front of the old garden bar. Maybe, but it’s a fine margin. Howarth’s no shows in heat fifteen and the race-off in the play-off final somewhat deflect the fact that at times, he was remarkable last season. His 5-1s with Harris against Edinburgh in the semi-final, taking Masters from behind (the Bishop said to the maid) at Ashfield, absolutely bullying Zach Cook at Ashfield in a critical race of the final, etc. Thompson’s 2025 was a strange one. I don’t think he was the same rider after his hand/wrist injury suffered in the U21 final. He had a great season, some tremendous meetings and played a huge part in our season, but his last effort in a Tigers’ race suit was to be surrender three points in being passed by Lewis Kerr. You could reverse engineer a whole meeting on where it was won and lost, but Thompson being done by Kerr wasn’t in the forecast. I’m in no doubt however that Thompson will have a fantastic season at Armadale.

I expect Mario to struggle. Kevin might be OK but will likely be outscored by opposite numbers on his first visit. I'm pretty sure Edinburgh will win but let's see how our new boys adapt during the meeting and see how our reserves stack up. The 1-3-5 boys should be fairly equal and entertaining.

Any business needs a vision, and a plan to deliver that vision... UK Speedway, basically, runs season to season with no one knowing who will run the next year, or which league some teams may decide to compete in, or what the team strengths there will be, or what competitions will take place, or what formats these competitions will follow.. You cannot keep "hoping for the best", by living season to season, and doing the same old thing that you always do that prevents you from ever having any vision, never mind a plan to deliver that vision... Millions and Millions of pounds of TV money has gone up in smoke over two and a half decades... Money which seemed to have bailed out a fair few issues which never got resolved... That money isn't there any more....

Today I, a lifelong cricket fan, have learned that county cricket is streamed on YouTube, from a speedway forum. Glad to see the ECB spend that £40million budget just as badly as others do.

It was pretty dry in heat one,, so was already onto a loser with the track, and from what I saw was only watered once during the meeting, although there was a lot of chatting with friends during breaks, so you may be right.

KL got their number 1 and still got pumped by the weakest Ipswich side for years.

Tac sub 5-1 meant the scoreline flattered lynn imo, long long tail. Decent first home performance throughout the team, Scotty will fair better when the track is grippier and he can work the bike and find different lines. Understand the comments on the track getting slick and dusty quite quickly tonight but I don’t think there’s much more they can do with such a strong drying wind as this evening, it was well watered before the meeting and watered at each grading break, while dry and dusty towards the end it was consistent and smooth which is good to see.

The state of our Speedway has somewhat reflected the state of the whole country... Our Speedway used to be up there with the best... the envy of many... a magnet for the worlds top riders... but now...??? We used to have a strong, upstanding country... powerful leaders respected and admired throughout the world... an army, navy and air force that struck fear around the globe... but now...???

It’s also been reported independently elsewhere that 3 meetings have been arranged this week so as I said we will just have to wait.

And there was me thinking it was news of a big investor and a new blueprint for taking British Speedway forward.

A star was born tonight. Cooper Rushen take a bow. Got to be brave to wear tassles. If you can’t live up to the hype the egg on the youngsters face would be bad. But he looks the real deal. Fast gating and good passing ability. A young Mark Loram? Possibly. But there’s a caveat of Scunthorpe being absolutely woeful. I said in the first post it could be Pickering v Poole and so it proved. He was excellent by the way. Mountain was his only backup with second places. The rest were as expected out of their depth. Palm-Toft didn’t want to know, unsurprisingly considering the smash he had here a few seasons ago. Lambert couldn’t live with the Poole boys. Newman again doing very well. Battling hard all night. Bowes should have had a max but messed up his team riding in his first race and slid off. Cairns seems to be dragging his bike around the track and looks stiff on a bike. Needs to relax more. We know the ability is there. Friday is obviously now a formality. Scunthorpe looked like wooden spooner candidates before the season and tonight confirmed it.

My first visit on sunday with my lad and he loved it even though he fell a couple of times and was very rusty but all round great effort from the team and owen was made very welcome Thanks so much for giving my lad much needed track time Paul
