How has he? He’s simply highlighted something he doesn’t agree with which he’s entitled to do. Who made you judge and jury and decides who can post where and when? Deary me 🙄4 points

Great result, Every Rider getting at least a paid win this time. Take a bow Tom Brennan, From Rising Star to No.1 who beat GP Rider Max Fricke 2-1 in a Head-to-Head battle around the AFA is some achievement. Never rated King's Lynn before a wheel was turned and if Jan Kvech continues his downward spiral at King's Lynn then the Stars may even finish behind Northampton once the League gets underway because the Stars tail end is simply out of it's depth at this level. Pressure on young Cooper Rushen is ridiculous and it could hinder his progress and knock his confidence imo.3 points

King's Lynn were doing so well... and then the season started 😂3 points

Should never be allowed for home teams! Huge bugbear of mine that.3 points

I had to laugh listening to that Kings Lynn podcast that Bagpuss linked up where Lyon said they “really pushed for TWO rising stars this year”. Yeah I bet they did!! It wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact the team building average had been reduced and they’d signed the statistically top rider in the league saddled with a near 10 point average, meaning having to go weak at reserve with two inexperienced riders would it? Of course not. They were thinking in the best interests of the sport long term! 🙄 We all know self interest rules the roost and it’s plainly evident again here. They finally had the top end strength they’d craved for years, and also wanted to negate any disadvantage they’d have from that at reserve by trying to force everyone else to go with two out of their depth kids as well. They may have failed with Their requests this time, but we all know the influence certain people have and their threats to close their clubs if certain demands aren’t met have been successful in the past. People wonder why this Sport in this country is in the mess that it is when it’s run by the very people who will ALL try and pull these stunts to gain an advantage for their own clubs. It will continue to happen until someone comes in to set the rules and regulations, and runs the Sport in this Country who doesn’t have ANY association with one particular club.3 points

The lads 16 and just took his first ever win in the championship against Lewis Kerr, I think he’s more than entitled to celebrate!3 points

This situation highlights the differences on either side of the fence. There's absolutely no way the Oxford management can keep fans fully up-to-date in a Sky News-esque ticker tape style barrage of information. Situations change constantly. So constantly that confusion would be the main outcome, with folks struggling to keep up. What are they expected to reveal? 'We have meetings planned'? A bit bland and unlikely to appease the news-hungry punter. They also most likely won't be allowed to reveal significant details of those meetings. The only thing that matters is whether the club has a future. It's a simple yes or no. On this occasion, happily, it's a yes. On the other side of the coin, fans can feel they're left in the dark, whilst craving updates aplenty. 'We are the lifeblood of the club. We deserve to know'. Well, yes, you do. But you only need to know the end result. The rest, if you're not a company official is, quite frankly, none of your business. It has to be kept in-house. The statement from the management is acceptable in my view. Good luck to Oxford.3 points

One of the things that has possibly held Tom back a bit (in the nicest possible way) was having Emil and Jason there! Saying that he will have learned a lot so his chance to be a no 1 is here! Wishing him the best of luck as I really think he’s a great rider in the making! He pops out and wins heat one against Fricke which is very impressive! great result for the witches - concerns for the Stars as ever early in the season!2 points

Agreed, imagine if you'd have said 30 years ago that at 48 this young whippersnapper will still be gunning down the Stars in the next century you'd have been carted away by men in white coats!2 points

Looks like Tom is starting to show his potential ,he was putting himself about in Poland at the week-end too.Hope he can stay injury free it’s along season.2 points

I’m not a “Witches” fan. Why would I be worried? I couldn’t really care less if Ipswich win lose or draw! My team closed many moons ago.2 points

Generally not been that impressed by Sam at Northside. Hope Vinnie back sooner rather than later , a solid reserve is so important.2 points

There’s home advantage, and then there’s this! Should this be allowed on the actual day of a meeting? Home riders having all afternoon to practice and fine tune their setup to suit the track conditions on the day? Seems a bit off to me.2 points

As he is still the leaseholder (unless anyone knows any different) then he must be involved.Oxford Speedway Ltd is in Courtney’s name though.2 points

Why would the speedway need to find the 2 million debt, that’s an absurd thing to say! It’s quite simple really, the speedway now need to do their own lease agreement with the stadium owners rather than through a third party which included the dogs. As far as I know this new arrangement is agreed and it’s all systems go for the rest of the season.2 points

Not really true - the way they have to be ridden today though is different. I remember Chris Louis saying he'd not like to ride todays bikes as they only really suit slick or consistent tracks, full throttle all the way, as you'd ride in Poland but in years gone by more throttle control won you races and you could use grippy/slick parts of the track to your advantage more. Seats are also much higher these days. The issue with any fence is that you go from 60mph to zero in a short space of time so injuries will happen no matter what but we do see more use of the wide outside lines than ever before (where only the very brave/skilled would tread), which could be the feeling of safety brought about by air fences.2 points

Could someone tell whoever does the write ups for the official site that is April and not June. At last it's time for the Tigers - Berwick Bandits Speedway2 points

I feel that's a little bit harsh on Castagna, who at least managed to average over 4 last season. But totally agree about the reserve berths, I wouldn't have used both "rising stars", especially as inexperienced as they are.2 points

Some of us are giving the our 2 local lads a chance to get going. I do agree about Paco. While i agree that Scoot and Coops is risky at reserve. But not anymore than Paco in the 1-5. At least Lynn are trying the you young guns2 points

Awful team building by the Stars to throw 2 youngsters in at 6 and 7 potentially zapping their confidence1 point

Exactly we are potentially damaging our young and upcoming prospects.1 point

I have just left AFA ian and us witches put in a solid all round display so well pleased. From a point of view of young and upcoming riders. We could potentially ruin them by asking them to step up so early, which is why I still believe in one league only.1 point

Should have looked at fixture list 1st 😜 but if you go down to the quayside you will see some nice new boats being built at the sunseeker boat manufacturers, a highlight of going to Poole, then goes downhill when you go to wimbored road 😜😀1 point

They had rain mid afternoon and then watered the track twice as the strong wind was drying it out so quickly and then at 6.20ish it poured down for a good ten minutes. Track was wet but one team adapted and one didn't! Klima did an unintentional 180 on the parade lap on bend four and ended up looked directly back at Scott Nicholls I think who was behind him! He obviously learnt quickly what he needed to do to get round though as he was superb last night. In heat one Masters got himself in a pickle on bend two but Danny and Joe seemingly had no issues in either running of the heat. Killeen was a little over excited chasing the Gladiators down into the start of the last lap and came off. I'm no mechanical expert but with 40+ years of watching speedway it looked like they had their setups wrong for the conditions although both teams did their track walks before it rained. Only Anders Rowe didn't fall off or get excluded in any of his rides for a Cheetah's side that I was expecting more from. Tom Spencer was the only Plymouth rider to struggle and he openly admitted that was down to inexperience when interviewed at the end of the meeting after he came out for some extra practice afterwards. Barker rode sensibly for a pretty simple four ride max, avoiding the slippery parts of the track when required to do so in heat 3 but still winning comfortably. That was the biggest win I have seen from a Plymouth team since converting from being a Rebel post covid and it reminded me a little of watching Exeter at the County Ground at times with a home side dominant and an away side not really that interested! Well done to Mark Phillips, Garry May and the rest of the backroom team down at Plymouth for the continued improvement on and off the track for the club. Will be back for more in a couple of weeks time when Glasgow come to Devon, that regular 160 mile round trip to the Coliseum doesn't seem very far nowadays!1 point

yes like Rushen did when he beat superstar Simon Lambert for his first win?🤔1 point

Dropped in on my way back home from a week in Hayle. More incredible progress since last there, new Bar, new Small Stands. Massive Crowd compared to early last season when I last visited. Nothing wrong with Track, was windy so they had watered it, came ideal by heat 5 or so. Home riders attacked it, Slick Sam Masters did what he used to do at Monmore when it was wet, - went missing started moaning - rest of Oxford team followed him Some good racing later on, with Barker a proper 3rd heat leader at home and Joe T in there and Klima excellent last night, if they could find an adequate replacement for Tobias, they won't be far off the Play Offs. Someone mentioned Bowtell but I'd imagine they would want some one better Away where points will be key. Another amazing leap forward from the SW outpost. My next speedway sojourn will no doubt be to Northampton.1 point

Typical short-sighted view. County cricket continue to stream every game for free on YouTube, last week's first round of the season getting just under 1.4 million views across the four days. Speedway is similar in terms of having regular natural breaks in play, it would be a perfect opportunity to sell sponsorship for between races.1 point

Congratulations to Mark and the whole team at Plymouth who obtained a notable achievement on Saturday by having a record attendance for over 10 years in the defeat against the Pirates. Fantastic for a sport that needs positive news stories to see a club going in the right direction and the swell of momentum behind the club within Plymouth. It's fantastic to see and long may it continue.1 point
