The problem of course with that is that there is a significant lag of the tapes in front of riders in gates 2 and 3 vs the magnets themselves. So doing this would essentially guarantee they’re at a disadvantage. There’s no easy solution to this unfortunately, since not excluding the tapes offender, as has been suggested, would result in more gambling (or going deliberately when they see any movement). Personally I think keeping the starting rules simple (exclusions for tape touching, anything else is allowed) is the way to go.

True but Nowak and Tarasenko were. There is just no knowing how it will go. After Worky next Friday we have four away matches before our next home meeting. If we are to keep the current 1-7 we need to work with them and not assume they can turn up on the day of the meeting after a 4 week break and outperform what they have shown so far. We could also help ourselves by prepping the track to suit our riders. Im not sure that has really been happening.

My guess is the first staging of ht14 was null and void but with Barker on 15m At Scunny v Poole the ref saw evidence of Bowes prewarming before his heat..he then reran the race with Bowes excluded and a reserve in

That's because Plymouth have history of having a rubbish track. We don't, and yes today wasn't good enough but it's a one off. Also, lengthy delays cant be helped when you have someone unwell in the stands and multiple crashes

Like been said before the simply aint enough top riders left who are willing to ride over in the UK for a full season to cover 5 or even 6 teams in the top league, if you can really call it a top league these days,you might get one or two riders come back for a few meetings once their Polish team has fulfilled their fixtures later in the season if your lucky.

I'm just glad there is a Speedway Stadium there and long may there continue to be so.

Take your kings Lynn hat off mate I for one am not castigating Cooper … I believe he meant to go a bit left and when he did coupled with the looking behind him he went further over than he thought My youngest daughter now 17 did roller speed skating and was a multi british champion …. One of her very first outdoor races at the age of 6 she was coming down the final straight and looked behind to see her fast finishing rival … the looking made her veer to the left … her skill set at that stage meant she drifted …. She was pulled in front of the officials and given a warning and rightly so although her mum thought the officials harsh I believed they were correct … age is not a factor and should not be taken into account Cooper got this wrong and I don’t believe maliciously …. The fact he is the best youngster we have and is showing outstanding form doesn’t come into it … I’m sure those around him will have had a word and I expect cooper himself will see the reaction (some of which is way over the top) and learn from it Many many ex riders have all said Cooper was at fault ranging from Steachmann, Silver , Stonehewer .. down to the likes of James Brundle…… I’m inclined to go with ex riders opinion rather than a fan who can be biased to his or her club Cooper clearly at fault … not malicious or dirty and hopefully he has took it all on board

But he is going to look, he made an error off the bend so checked everyone else's position, it's normal with every rider who makes an error. Absolutely normal to do. At the point of Rushen looking back, Harrison was far enough behind to see Rushen's corrective manoeuvres. For me, the incident only arises because Harrison isn’t aware of his surroundings. Rushen doesn't & never did turn left down the straight. The only decision the referee had on offer was excluding Harrison.

Watching the incident over & over & for me (unpopular opinion clearly) the referee made the right call. Rushen overshooting the corner a little & just tries to get his wheels in line quicker to regain speed to hold position. At no point through the whole move is he moving left down the straight. The view from behind is very very clear on that. For me, Harrison had enough time & room to see what was happening in front of him but failed to adjust to the situation.

Bit of a tactical rain off I think, none of the forecasts look terrible, but with Kildemand out, Battye out, Jye a doubt, Palovaara just become a Dad again you can see why they've taken that decision early!

Re watering, I know what you are saying about 6pm starts and of course its valid but only to a degree . I have seen many dusty meetings that have started as late as 7-30pm at tracks such as Oxford , Poole and Redcar to name 3 that come to mind so it would be unwise to suggest that a later start will be the end of dust. If we fail to get enough moisture into the base, it won't be. You quote last week, however there were a couple of variables that made last week different to this regardless of earlier start time today. 1. We had substantial rainfall friday evening that got into the base and 2. The track was visibly wetter at the 6pm start time than it was today suggesting we either put more water on and or were helped by the existing track moisture level when we started watering. Even though the track was on the wet side to start with last week, after 4 heats it was perfect. This contributed to a very good racing surface with little or need for subsequent further watering because the moisture went deep into the base. Compare that to today where we had dust in heat 1 . Personally I consider dust avoidable because some tracks manage it . When it has been dry in the days leading up to a meeting then ideally you need to know 1. The optimum pre meeting time to start watering and 2. The ball park figure for the volume of water required over this time period in order to get water into the base. Weather variables such as temperature and wind speed play a part in drying the upper layers but the moisture level in the upper layers can be easier controlled during watering breaks, while moisture should also be drawn upwards from the base via capillary action. Having baseline figures for the above should make for more consistent moisture levels at meeting start times. The plus side of this should be a more enjoyable experience for customers, in terms of dust suppression and conduciveness of the track in producing better . Maybe this a bit too much of a scientific approach to something that appears relatively simple but it always strikes me as surprising at how many clubs don't seem to mind covering the fans in dust while 'treating' them to a quality of racing that could be better.

I think that was the case 100%, lessons will be learnt I’d imagine. Plus a very long day for all involved, track staff, Marshalls, referee the list goes on.

Well done to Plymouth you deserve some success after a tough few seasons, Grmek is a massive upgrade on Thomsen IMO. Especially as the season progresses. Lots of positives for both teams still, crowd levels have been great at the GT tyres arena this season and looking forward to evening racing next week.

Worky bang on about how wonderful your track,you need to get the prep right no moisture in the base and a water bowser completely inept at doing the job. I think plymouth under performed today and still got the win but should of been by alot more. How can the ref exclude 2 riders when when tate clearly went down before Tom Spencer baffles me! Need to go to 6pm start time, any water put down on the track has evaporated by the time the water truck comes round again. Or a stronger watering system, looks like an aerosol spray.

Those wondering about the call off will be pleased to know that the very north of Northumberland has been basking in some bloody miserable weather this morning… great decision!

Not suggesting foul play, the forecast was terrible (according to BBC) and I think it’s fair to say Redcar will be happy that they can stage the meeting when they have a stronger team available. The postponement benefitted Redcar but I like watching the pirates round Redcar so hopefully next week the sun will be out and there will be a stream.

Was also at Elfield until it closed. So you will know, the biggest problems were - The Speedway board seemingly doing their damndest to make sure it was unsuccessful (begining to sound familiar), with fines etc. Coventry, who seemed to think MK were a threat to their gates!!!! 🤷‍♂️ The local council always upholding the local residents complaints (noise etc). Local scumbags who kept vandalising the stadium. Causing Terry Cheney to spend money on security & repairs. Rather than improving the facilities. The facilities at Brafield, Terry would have given both arms for. It has great potential. The trouble is Speedways Rulers are no better than all our politicians. They're the reason British speedway is in such a mess.

You are joking! As Jan Staechmann pointed out, there aren't any brakes. You can see Harrison trying to pull back/away, but he was accelerating out of the bend taking a natural line, while Rushen (who took one long look, and then a second glance), had moved across from the natural line. I doubt any rider would have expected him to be there. Harrison had no chance - neither did Scott - or do you think he should have navigated his way past?!

In my view Cooper turned left but probably more that he meant to, realising this Luke tried to avoid him but could not. To castigate him and calling for a ban is way over the top, I am sure Rob Lyon has had a word with him and he will learn from his mistake.

Rain is possibly a blessing in disguise as I’m not sure we have much of a team available for tomorrow.
