  1. I pondered this and the lack of enthusiasm from the riders to at least give it a go whilst driving back! in the ‘good old days’ riders didn’t have lucrative contacts in other countries so much or a GP series to ride in - maybe those at the top have just got a bit too comfy to risk it if conditions are not exactly to their liking. I personally felt the track looked rideable but I am comparing it to tracks of 20/30 years ago and of course the bikes were different back then - still a bit miffed no one came out to test the track! edit - at no point did I hear the bikes being warmed up either!!!

  4. Poole will get as much national publicity, or financial prize, for winning tier two, as whichever team wins the top tier... The difference being they will have laid out a lot less.. Before the start of this season, their promoters did say crowds had dropped last year, so maybe there could be a bit of "winning fatigue" setting in and fans will pick and choose their meetings depending on the opposition... However. They did also say though that they were going to ramp up their local promotion, and marketing, plus target sponsor recruitment as they felt lots of opportunities existed... Poole fans have shown a winning team keeps them attending, with a losing team, impacting crowds.. No point in spending six figures more, and "maybe" being successful, when you can spend six figures less and, whilst never guaranteeing success, give yourself really good odds...

  5. 6 broom sweepers, 5 male and one female. Each with the objective of brushing the standing water to the kerb and ultimately in to the drain. One decided to brush the opposite direction to the others and brush the standing water out all over the track. Guess which one it was?

  6. Interesting to hear Rorys thoughts on the meeting going ahead,if that had been Berwick his bikes would have been back in the van as soon as he seen the track 😂

  7. Latest update, which is positive: We have the first, still cautiously positive, news regarding Patryk Budniak's health. Our athlete is gradually emerging from a medically induced coma and responding to contact with loved ones. The first signs of feeling in his legs have also appeared, which gives hope in his continued fight for health. Patryk remains under the constant care of doctors, and we will provide further updates as they become available. Thank you for the overwhelming support for Patryk and his family.

  8. From the pictures I've seen, the track didn't look that wet. Big issue for Ipswich now, is the next time it's wet fans may be out off travelling, not wanting to risk another wasted journey.

  10. Ref said they didn't have a blade, which is a breach of the regulations, which he didn't mention... I'm sure the Premiership CEO will be on the case to make sure they have one in the future 🤔😂

  11. You will get your full quota of matches on BSN though, don’t know what you are complaining about. No point in turning up if there is a cloud in the sky nowadays .

  13. Surely this will be called off, can’t expect riders to race on a track with moisture in it, they are to used to riding on dust bowls.

  14. You can say what you like about Poole, despite having fans like Shovlar who still chats to that dirty paedo Shawn, they win trophys. There is no doubt they would still be competing at the top end at least if they were still in the top tier. They dropped a league and shred bucket loads on outgoings yet have still maintained the same crowds each week.

  15. Yes it is a business decision to ride in the lower tier where the club gets as much revenue as the top tier but the costs are less, this is partly why the top division only has 6 teams, it must be very difficult to afford top riders especially when you dont get big crowds every week.In football you have to invest massively if you intend to stay in the top division once promoted or you get relegated.

  16. It really a joke now. They don’t even want to get the Kevlar dirty now. Why not give a couple of riders a couple of laps to test the track turn the dirt over( if there’s any).Been there too many times now,I certainly don’t leave the house now if there is cloud in the sky.

  17. A perfect example of where one point each, no rearrangement, would have, at least, seen riders giving it a go, either before the meeting to test the track, or actually just run the meeting... And the home team would have had to have the capability with the correct equipment to at least try and give the meeting every chance... Too easy for clubs to just rearrange and too easy for riders to come back at a later date to earn their money.. With the fans being the common denominator that lose out... Having to pay on the night refunds and season ticket refunds would also "focus" the clubs somewhat too...

  21. Of course he'd say that and in any case it is up to the referee not the riders. A GP would've gone ahead on a surface as wet as that. Walking on it and finding it slippery is completely different to riding a bike on it. One or two races and it'd have been dry.

  22. It didn't need a blade, the track was fine. However we know about Aussies and wet tracks 😉 The track is smooth and consistent, the tail ways the dog again - a ref on the 80s-90s wouldn't have called that off. Those that turned up to watch will think again the next time there's a shower on the forecast and who can blame them.

  23. Agree and the sad state of affairs is that when the weather is slightly better in June, July and August you have so few meetings because other meetings elsewhere impact on rider availability. Read this week’s Speedway Star and the comments regarding the lack of meetings at a track like Scunthorpe. It says it all about how far the sport has sadly declined in this country and unless you get real change it will continue to spiral downwards. Fans become disillusioned and riders seek income elsewhere. Oh well nothing the run of the mill fan can do but hope.

  24. 05.1.8 Track Preparation Equipment As detailed on the Homologation Certificate, must be available in working order. Vehicles must be fitted with rotating flashing hazard warning lights. The minimum equipment required is as follows: • 2 Tractors • 1 Grader • 1 Harrow or Wheel • 1 Blade • 1 Water Bowser Have they fixed the flashing light on the tractor yet 🚜 🚨

  30. My biggest worry when we dropped down was missing the big names like Holders and Doyle at the time they dropped. I didn’t like the fact that we dropped down, hugely against it. But from season 1 in the championship I’ve never looked back. Especially with the state of the premiership

  31. Unfortunately the way the sport is ran, they don't have what could ordinarily be described as "meaningful relevant competitions"... Hence it has the following and media coverage it gets... Poole, when in tier one, realised that around ten of the fourteen riders that rode for them and their opponents each meeting at home, also rode in tier two, but for less money... Meaning they were laying out considerably more for riders who roide in tier two, and on top of that, two or three "top earners" who didn't... (I seem to remember the promoters saying it was around £150k difference between the costs in total).. "Dropping down" (if that is actually a thing), meant they had the majority of the same riders, could still ride on traditionally, and clearly, the best night for their business, charge less for punters to get in, and save a six figure sum... An absolute no brainer... If Speedway was ran like most other team sports with aspirational growth, with ever increasing financial rewards the higher you got, then that would be a completely different scenario, and one that the Poole promoters would, I am sure, adapt to and be successful within...

  32. With his motocross background and his short spell in speedway it’s obviously done him the world of good to race flat track. His Instagram states on a post it was his 4th time riding a flat track bike! If that doesn’t show the lads ability and determination! Like I’ve wrote in previous posts I’ve followed him from a young age and winning a world championship round on his debut didn’t surprise me one bit. I know there’s a lot of negativity around from his last few months in speedway but there’s also a lot no one knows behind the reasons it went that way. It’s not for me to say but if they knew the real reasons then they would understand more. let’s be happy we have a Brit currently standing on the top step of a world championship representing our country.

  35. Wood & Ritchings on previous displays here this season, would expect to heavily outscore the home reserves, so result might be closer than some expect. Just read Vale now replaces Ritchings so this favours a home win instead

  45. Great to hear and as a rider who can compare the old with the new it’s nice to see the changes aren’t going unnoticed. Keep it up. The screen is fabulous for replays and interviews filling the gaps in the action perfectly. The more clubs take this idea on board the better.

  48. As much as I miss Ben being in the Poole team, he was too good for this level, riding in the polish top league and capable of being unbeatable on his day, he’s not too far of GP standard and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see him in them in a few years. If we were to make the step up to the premiership, I’d like to think he’d be first name on the team sheet

  49. Anyone can do a screen shot to suit an argument. His machine does not go left at any point down the straight and he's lined up to go through gate 3. Video evidence is very very clear on what happened. It seems some still need lessons in basic physics.

  50. Ian he was 16 with 1 years experience in the sport! What about the 15 point maximum at Redcar? 13 points Glasgow? It’s people like YOU that completely ruins our sport for the young guns. He’s beat Jason Doyle while Jason was leading the GP if I remember rightly!? Chris holder, bomber, majic , Lawson and plenty more!!! he was 16/17 with no previous experience in speedway but still people like you didn’t give him a proper chance other than pick on his bad days and kept quite on his good! I really hope he doesn’t return to speedway as I’ve followed him from a young age and the talent he has on two wheels is outstanding. Speedway is 50% bike set up and 50% rider ability and with his lack of experience I am sure his bike was set up incorrectly a lot of the time. He was one of the best mx riders in the world for his age where his talent on a bike was shown by his ability. He can now do the same with flattrack as it’s not the bike set up that wins races it’s the rider riding it.
