That meeting was British speedway alive and kicking. this site is very negative and Plymouth being its own micro climate and living in its own bubble is working. This meeting was superb, great racing, drama, last heat deciders. The fans from Redcar travel superbly and handshakes with gladiator fans at the end as well. incredible attendance I wouldn’t be surprised if that could be a new record for the colosseum. as I say I’m sure this site will be negative about something and ultimately it’ll help towards the demise of British speedway but Plymouth are bucking the trend and really getting good crowds and promoting speedway properly ! Plymouth is on the up and nothing less than mark deserves from all he has put in.7 points

I've been fortunate enough to witness several incredible sporting moments, from Argyle beating Liverpool in the FA Cup, Plymouth Albion going to Twickenham in the old Powergen Cup Final, several incredible cricket matches with Somerset... That last night is right up there. But it wasn't just last night, it was 30 heats of speedway, every twist and turn with jeopardy involved. We all hoped the racing would be just as exciting as it was on Friday up in Redcar and the Coliseum delivered. People do enjoy bashing the Plymouth track but the racing across every heat last night was off the charts. Jake Mulford and Jody Scott belying their age and producing fabulous performances. Jason Edwards once again delivering around the Coliseum. Danny King and Scott Nicholls standing up when their club needed it most, Ben Barker leaving everything out there for the cause. Tremendous crowd, fabulous atmosphere and I loved every moment of being on Gladiators TV commentating on that clash. The final will be a brilliant occasion whether it's the Bandits or the old foes the Pirates. Redcar left Devon with nothing but respect last night for playing a huge role in an excellent knockout clash. Fair play to the Bears fans who made the long trip down and added to the crowd noise. The final will be a great reward for Mark, Garry, Barry and everyone involved with Plymouth Speedway for the hard work they are putting in to buck the trend of speedway's popularity in this country. It's alive and kicking in Devon that's for sure but they will not be going for the day out in the final... they want that trophy!4 points

Death, taxes and Glasgow Tigers fans pontificating about 'entertaining racing'. Gie's peace man.3 points

Redcar 1 to 5 getting some justified stick, but IMO the team manager is getting an easy ride. Our reserves scored 49 out of 89 points over 2 legs and weren’t used enough, IMO. How Jake Allen got 4 rides last night is remarkable. If the two reserves were good enough for a hear 15 each, they are good enough for a heat 13, im sure. 2 good meetings to watch, a bit of everything in it but thank heavens for Redcars 2 reserves.3 points

I see you are still around. Upsetting people, irritating people, winding folk up. You aren't even funny. The fact is, you know what you are doing, and that makes you a very unhappy person. I'm sorry for you.2 points

I genuinely hope he goes on certainly in the Championship League .2 points

Klindt, who else could it be. The bloke is the most frustrating rider to have in your team. Whoever he’s rode for I’ve never known a rider to be so unpredictable as him, he was awful at Kings Lynn with his inconsistent scoring and is just as bad for Northampton and Redcar. You just can’t rely on the bloke for points when you need him , so he takes the title of Mr irritating. Wouldn’t you agree?1 point

But wasn't Klindt a temporary injury replacement for Wright? If so, and if/when Charles is ready, they can be swapped back, regardless of averages1 point

Don't be two hard on them this is a development league any reason the wee Australian girl only had 3 rides or win at all costs1 point

No surprise. Buxton let down massively by two riders. If you can't score a point on your home track then there's obviously a problem.1 point

I'll miss him. I enjoyed his Posts. I hope he is OK and that he will return soon.1 point

Oxford again showing what a big miss Riss is, Kennett did well considering his time away, could be a useful addition if he wants a full time return. While Riss is missing, we need more from Rowe. Solid display from Workington, all chipping in, outside of Poole, the play offs are there for everybody really.1 point

They have re-run it, ominous start by The Griff's!1 point

Would be delighted to see Berwick win,it would make for a great final on slightly different tracks1 point

Klindt is one of the biggest gating tarts, it doesn’t matter what track it is, you can’t say it’s because Plymouth is small because Nick used to ride for Wolves which was another track where throttle control and skill is more important than raw speed. Would have liked BSN to show this, and it sounded like a cracker with it coming down to the final race.1 point

Well done to the Gladiators, must have been a bit tense 😃. Hope Ben Barker not too badly hurt.1 point

Thanks Robin88 Track was good but I think we got caught out a little with the pre-meeting watering. Showers were in the forecast in the morning but these never really materialised. We had had a good deal of natural watering during the week so to get dust so early was a surprise, we moved to the leeward side of the stadium following heat 3 so not sure how effective subsequent watering was. Agree about Masters and Kennett. Tate's achilles heal continues to be his gating but watching him wind it up from behind is great entertainment. Max is a combative rider a trait he displayed in his earlier years in the NDL for Leicester Lion Cubs. He was on the wrong end of some rough treatment from Anders Rowe in heat 12, his left leg somehow got attached to Rowe's bike which then took him for a ride across the track, just pleased the leg didn't get twisted otherwise it could well have resulted in injury. Showed his mettle when he was back out in heat 14 as a reserve switch and delivered the 4-2 with Tate. Re Jonas, heat 6, I don't think anyone saw that coming, I for one thought Jonas would have reeled in Mitch and Dayle Wood . In heat 13 I thought he should have switched to the outside line but continued to follow Batch round the inside. Showed what he is capable of in heat 15 but Masters never stopped hunting him down and like you say may well have had him with another lap.1 point

Nothing is set in stone regarding scott retiring. Watch this space!1 point

Correct. The best meeting I was at last season was the play-off final second leg at Ashfield and we lost. Do not misinterpret me Steve; speedway in the UK will die without entertaining racing.1 point

Yep, Batchelor, despite getting a lot of hate, has never missed a meeting for us and he travels a long way. He may have his off nights but he's saved us a lot more than he's let us down. True captain. UTC!1 point

Urm track looked good i have to say cant have been optimal to prepare with the weather. Oxford took a few races to get dialled in but it was a good contest. Masters was in a class of his own (bar bike issues) and Eddie Kennett rode really well i thought. Always enjoy watching Zischke, bit slow to begin with but finished strongly as per. Max Perry impressed. Not sure what is going on with Jeppesen? bikes look slow out the start? Left for dead in Heat 6 and 13. Batchelor did him a favour in 15 and Masters i reckon with another lap would have had him. Mcdiarmid being excluded was comical viewing. Brannan's comical explanation that he was tired was well comical. Good meeting but i will turn off the volume next time, fed up of the bullcrap propaganda.1 point

Vinnie is good entertainment, showed true grit and I wish him all the very best. But imo didn't offer good value at the time Poole let him go, even though many fans thought otherwise.1 point

I was disappointed when it was announced we had Kerr in the team. He was next to dreadful last season. Just generally poor with added bike issues on top. And so many duff rides where a reserve would get in front of him and he couldn’t get past. However I will eat humble pie as he has been much much better so far this season and done a good job. I hope he keeps it up.1 point
-
Looking at tonight's results made me think two things:- * I hope Plymouth stick with Tom Spencer, * Glad Poole dropped Rowe and kept Kerr, Plus congratulations Workington good to get some points on the board, note Vinnie's not exactly pulling up stumps, so many people posting to keep him at Poole as I remember?!*:?1 point
-
He put in a shift for you tonight’s the same can’t be said for others. You blew a massive chance of a win as Berwicks heat leaders didn’t score a point between them until heat 6 .1 point

No doubt Oxford will be also blaming the distance to the track from the pits for McDiaarmids exc1 point

I know it's the wrong thread, but I'm currently at the NORA meeting Mildenhall v Norwich. 15 quid to get in and 12 heats completed in just over 1 hour. Around 400 here I reckon and not bad. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but it's not bad and has to be looked at as a way forward.1 point

Another subtle dig at Sheffield ? Maybe you never saw how much Tai was helping the other riders, even when he was injured and still turning up to the matches ? Or Chris Holder, or Picko ? Look at Flint last year compared to his previous few seasons. Team spirit is very high at Sheffield and all the younger riders comment on it.1 point

Gotta push back on that one …. he was only ever asked to cover a month and no more. that was your management lying to you1 point

That’s what Birmingham wanted people to think. He signed for 28 days. Fulfilled his commitment and left as agreed. Similar to jepson Jensen last season1 point
