And this exact topic is exactly why this forum is going down the pan. Surely mods can delete this rubbish and trying and make speedway have a little ounce of respect. Imagine if you were knew to speedway and this forum or even posting on this forum loads to discuss and you see a couple of people just insulting and arguing over non speedway related stuff. Surely mods can get some control over this and all ow this site half a chance to get back to being a proper forum of speedway discussion.7 points

The plan was to have 2027 completed well in advance.... July would be "well in advance"... They are running an operating model simply unfit for any purpose other than giving riders a chance to earn a living riding Speedway... Two leagues being ran of similar inconsequence.. "Any Speedway" being put out, devoid of any jeopardy, consequence, or credibility... And all done on nights to suit riders but not necessarily the fans.... In 1976 you would walk into Woolworths on a Saturday morning, and it was heaving, with people of all ages, as kids even went there to buy records and pick n mix.. In 2006 you would walk into Woolworths on a Saturday morning and it was empty apart from a customer base of a sparse number of 50+ somethings.. But the stores, and their operating model, stil looked like it was back in 1976... UK Speedway is Woolworths... Decades of zero plans to move the business forwards due to the lack of skill set of those running it, and a reliance on doing the same thing every year, and hoping an ever dwindling, and ageing, customer base would suddenly, one day, wake up and decide to return.. They didn't in Woolworths case, and they won't for UK Speedway... It needs proper, radical change...4 points

Sadly even the most loyal supporters have become disillusioned with the offering and if you look at the lapsed supporters and even those who use to contribute on this forum no longer bothering it sums up why no one bothers any more. A few hardy souls will traipse along to the meetings but for what, a contrived league that holds meetings as and when and if someone is pissing in the wind it is called off because of adverse weather. Where did it all go so wrong. Time for a major reset and focus on young up and coming talent and stop pandering to a few who see the UK as a supplementary income to fund overheads without the need to over do anything apart from turn up at the track. The riders are not to blame but those who employ them are. These guys are contracted to overseas clubs paying top dollar and they are not going to jeopardise everything for a tin pot Monday/Thursday night league with six clubs where the teams are made up of the riders doubling up who are screwing the system by trying to make an annual return out of possibly 20 plus meetings. For the bean counters, work out how many evenings/days they actually race in the UK and then you have an idea of the restricted working pattern with individuals seeking an annualised return that does not stack up if compared to the alarm clock worker who in person in this the country has to graft five plus days a week or more to try and make a decent annual living. You then ask why would they attend a meeting simply to line the pockets of part timers. The sport has lost its way with supporters, sponsors and the trust of many. Fingers crossed someone comes along with ideas to turn it around because as a spectacle and Plymouth can prove it, racing and excitement can prevail, it just takes balls to offer the public what they want when they want it as opposed to the riders.4 points

Suppose with Morris giving away Thursday’s as one of UK’s nights to Poland we’re starting to see the impact it’ll have with weakened teams becoming more regular. Just wonder where the the influx of all these riders form continent that Morris said would happen by giving this race night away are ?3 points

When the season is running, people want momentum and routine. If you have big, erratic gaps between meetings, some fans lose the habit, find other things to fill their evenings, and just drift away. The winter break is different because everyone knows exactly when it starts, when it ends, and the anticipation builds up for opening night of the season the closer you get.3 points

Up to the end of May, the top two tiers had used 77 Guests.... With so few meetings too!!!! Imagine trying to sell nonsense like that to any major potential league sponsor who isn't already within the UK Speedway Bubble?.. Is there any way forward for UK Speedway?..3 points

I think it's now abundantly clear that unless you're starting in mid May, due to a global pandemic, a 6 team league is pretty 5hite!3 points

Yep, Batchelor, despite getting a lot of hate, has never missed a meeting for us and he travels a long way. He may have his off nights but he's saved us a lot more than he's let us down. True captain. UTC!3 points

Is it too hard to scroll back a few posts, or even look on the Workington website or social media pages ? No wonder just about everyone hates Poole. It's not the Team or promotion it's the fans who're stuck in their own small World.2 points

He said 'skelped' not 'scalped'. It's a Scottish word meaning to slap, smack or spank. As in the phrase 'he had a face like a well-skelped arse'. Stewart Dickson is Scottish, you know 😄2 points

I can picture a speedway promoter working in a supermarket’s customer services. A fat middle aged bloke sitting behind a desk with an index finger in each ear.☺️2 points

Face it, Northside circuit on its very worst day is better than Derwent Park's track was on its best.2 points

Quickest way to make speedway popular again is by somehow adding a ball,, people love ball sports. Football, Rugby, Golf, Tennis, Basketball, Handball, Netball, Snooker and so on,, all more popular. Each lap the riders try and kick a ball into the goal or hole or hoop, or over the net,,, simples2 points

this season as been a mess really, you already lost fans due to the mess in deciding what they wanted to do this year, then the sporadic of meetings is losing more, i know we have BSN who do a great job but no TV exposure is killing us also. they really need to pull there finger out and sort 2027 now, and announce the rules and regs before the season is over, show us that you know what your doing, we dont want or need a winter of discontent again. where is Phil Morris, last i saw he was in the job centre queue in Cardiff2 points

I see you are still around. Upsetting people, irritating people, winding folk up. You aren't even funny. The fact is, you know what you are doing, and that makes you a very unhappy person. I'm sorry for you.2 points

Well he was recruited by Birmingham who have an outstanding record in poor signings. Spent lots of time in the pits on the spanner’s so I guess it stands to reason he is the ideal candidate. on par with Peter Schroek imo1 point

Well done Ipswich on their emphatic win & 3 points. On to the next one for King's Lynn.1 point

Funny old game, innit? Leon rode his socks off, and got very, very close to the (excellent) Peter Kildemand at the finish of Heat 15. No more than a wheel behind at the flag. If he'd snatched the win, all the Tigers on here would be saying how he had grabbed the draw, and he was the hero of the hour.1 point

hes in Wroclaw, lets not be fooled here, dan aint returning to the UK, he will just race in Poland and GPs when hes back, tracks will be to tight over here while hes recovering from thigh, back and hip injuries1 point

Just about to watch it back, i will fast forward the racing and just watch the action in between which there was probably more off because action on track was very minimal at best, what a pathetic showing from Leicester or were we just to good. the lowest crowd of the season last year was the match after the GP so not worried at all, be back to normal next week. nice to see Doyle settling in well, he was superb, even better hearing he wants to be back next season, not sure how we fit bewley kurtz or doyle in though1 point

Northampton really aren’t far off. They need to make ONE change in particular, two changes if they can’t get anyone worthwhile for Batchelor’s average. I really don’t think there’s an awful lot between Northampton, Lynn and Ipswich. Or Leicester come to that!1 point

Some good racing tonight despite the scoreline. Doyle was superb in his first ride with Will Cairns and was a class act all night. Kildemand, Blodorn and Zischke will all feel more confident after scoring well. I'm sure Belle Vue would have lost money though - a very poor attendance and lots of points money to pay out.1 point

That meeting was British speedway alive and kicking. this site is very negative and Plymouth being its own micro climate and living in its own bubble is working. This meeting was superb, great racing, drama, last heat deciders. The fans from Redcar travel superbly and handshakes with gladiator fans at the end as well. incredible attendance I wouldn’t be surprised if that could be a new record for the colosseum. as I say I’m sure this site will be negative about something and ultimately it’ll help towards the demise of British speedway but Plymouth are bucking the trend and really getting good crowds and promoting speedway properly ! Plymouth is on the up and nothing less than mark deserves from all he has put in.1 point

Yes R/R during 1975 and the bizarre thing that he was then allocated to Wolves for the 1976 season and they operated the facility also! Going back to Tommy things may have worked out differently for him had he ridden for King's Lynn in 1975 as was planned but the "Stars" management were gazumped by Thomas/Mawdsley and he ended up at Hull! He did indeed win the 1973 Swedish Final but that was after Michanek took Persson out in one race and Bernie either broke an arm or leg...can't remember which...an act that Anders regretted although they did eventually make up although Bernie's wife never forgave him!1 point
