Sounds like a Swindon swiz to me... promise a track, get the stadium knocked down then pull the rug leaving Speedway high and dry!7 points

Tom B is probably the bottom No1 in the league... A league of just six number ones... Meaning he rides against his opposite number three times per night, if he takes Ht15... Out of those six Number Ones, three are World Class GP riders, and one is a Polish top tier HL... And then you have No5's like Bewley, Doyle, Kvech, and Pickering with C Holder at a three.. Both Brennan, and also Lidsey, made great progression riding at No3 with two World Class HL's at one and five in their teams.. With just five teams to race, and three of them having top level GP riders at No1, being a non top level GP rider, and riding against them several times a night, can be both an average and a confidence killer.. And Ryan Douglas as the other No1 in the league is a very solid rider... With so few teams you won't be getting too many "easy" rides to increase your confidence should you need to... And not riding in Poland regularly won't help... Can a Championship side fit him in?...3 points

Brennan is a class act & will continue to have my full support. We already have one eye on 2027 & he’ll be a key part of that3 points

Let's all get behind Tom Brennan and not post any negative comments about his bad run of form, I'm sure that he feels down right now and that he could do with some support from the fans. He will get out of this rut, It's just a case of WHEN and not IF.3 points

Unfortunately, some will require their heads to have a wobble. This team was put together in a couple of weeks through necessity. There are simply not enough riders to support British Speedway and that's a fact. At this rate the sport will have a day of reckoning if they don't listen to the likes of Richard Coleman. Mediocrity is not acceptable but the owners simply had to put together a team so deal with it.2 points

It’ll be when Lawson swaps with him in positions. Lawson will be number one next time around with averages. Bydgoszcz isn’t helping his confidence.2 points

It’s tiresome but very cartel like that as soon as a club gets four wins over Northampton, seeing themselves nicely into the KO cup final and very well placed for the playoffs that they want OTHER clubs to help out Northampton for wins. Do as I say not as I do. Self interest at its best. It’s just the same with helping other teams be competitive as the only time this becomes a talking point is when they think they can have a pop at Belle Vue, the club that has done and does do more than any other. It’s pure defection for their lack or participation in making our league more competitive. Two riders over 8 is fine whilst your club have such a luxury but as soon as it’s gone then stop all teams. Self interest and yo yo ethics once again, ethics that is and has slowly killed this fine sport of ours. Predictably but sad. Anyway, I hope Matej returns soon, it’ll be Ace.2 points

Leicester did the right thing, for the good of speedway of course, and handed the Foxes their only win of the season... the rest of you should hang your heads in shame 😁2 points

Never a truer word said. Up the 'Bees'. How can you trust these people. Their past history says it all.2 points

It's the same Planning Organisation involved (DPP Planning), so the similarity with the Swindon situation is as plain as day.2 points

Bet you believe in fairytales. Have you considered that Doyle may have had a say in all this? Maybe he’d only race over here again if it was at Belle Vue. Slating Lemon and Belle Vue is obviously your agenda.2 points
-
We all know where the Foxes stand, Mark Lemon I understand is part of the Foxes setup? Co opted as promoter or something yet as soon as Doyle became available, did he try to get him in at Northampton? Oh no, he made sure to look after Belle Vue first. Its just like I said it will be, we need another club, not to be competitive, but to make up the numbers, same as Arena Essex circa 20042 points

Why only a proposal for a possible Speedway site. Why not build the Speedway Stadium first, then do the landscaping and play areas, finally build the homes.2 points

Attended this meeting on Monday as my first visit to Northampton and to play devils advocate here I absolutely loved it from the first impression. One of the promoter’s out the front greeting supporters was a really classy touch and made a world of difference. I entered feeling already valued as a spectator. The food was of a decent quality. The drinks whilst on the penny side come with a nice souvenir Foxes cup which is a nice touch. Merch is of a decent quality and I understand they are constantly refreshing and adding to it. The team is obviously sub-par but they’ve not exactly been pushovers, they could have easily won this meeting if Batchelor (get rid btw) & Jeppesen showed up a bit earlier. A quality rider up top and a better effort from Jeppesen and this team will win its home meetings which is vital to keeping good crowd levels. Yes the track needs work; and it is always going to struggle after Stox & Bangers meetings but it isn’t far off being a good race track as was shown in the latter heats. This has made me a fan and is a better option to me as a Coventry fan than visiting and supporting Leicester. I will 100% be back. Well done Northampton.2 points

It's very reminiscent of what was done at Long Eaton as well. The 'save the stadium' campaign was strong, but obviously with speedway fans being more regionalised and stock car fans following drivers rather than locations, the speedway side was far stronger. When the developers were not making any progress, they came up with a new plan which would rotate the track through 90 degrees, freeing up land that could be developed for industrial purposes. This development would generate the funds for the new track. Of course, this was never going to happen, but unfortunately the leaders of the campaign group were speedway fans and they bought the lies. Obviously, without pit space there was never going to be any stock cars there again, so a wedge was immediately driven between the two factions as the stock car fans felt like they were being sold out. This 'new speedway track' at Brandon will have exactly the same effect on the campaign groups at Coventry if the speedway side show any signs of weakness towards it. There is no way that a new stadium could survive purely on income from speedway and the developers know this.1 point

I've got to say it Foxes fans but your team manager is pretty clueless (and he's far from alone in Speedway), Jonas Jeppesen 7 points from reserve and just the 4 rides! Is it any wonder you can't win (except for Leicester at home 😉)1 point

Yep and so are most participants who ply their trade in UK speedway so nothing new. That is why the sport is a pastime that few punters care or are interested in and until it has a total revamp with people who have vision, it will continue to be a sh.t show. No regular fixtures, shared riders, no legitimate reason to win a meeting and journeymen who use UK speedway and in part the fans entrance fee to a meeting to top up the pension pot. They take few or no risks and pootle round a track and protect the revenue stream from riding in Poland but at all costs ensure no risks are taken to jeopardise the income and do the bare minimum and the punters in the UK accept the morsels on offer. That sums up most of the riders contribution to league racing in the UK and the racing on offer. Take it or leave it. The sport will never get back to its halcyon days.1 point

He could score a 7 ride maximum and all that would show would be that he only tries when he feels like it and as we all know, he very rarely feels like it. As I said, a total waste of space1 point
-
Have they abandoned the meeting tonight? I paid to watch the stream, but so far have been treated to about 30 minutes of a previous meeting. After 57 years of following live speedway and being a season ticket holder, my wife and i decided not to go this season....and so far we haven't missed it. I've no idea how they expect to attract new supporters serving up this borefest every five weeks or so.1 point

Good luck Foxes for tonight. A home and away double would be nice and a couple of you are literally riding for your jobs with Zagar about to return!1 point

Jason Garrity? Average fits and Havvy was supposedly trying to help him make a comeback and get a team place?1 point

Anyone with multiple aliases will be favourite coz they can keep on talking to each other, then again they wont be the last one standing with multiple aliases🤣1 point

That shows why rolling averages are better. It shows the true form over a period of 20 matches. As any statistician will tell you, a larger sample gives a truer answer. Taking a sample of the last 20 matches smooths out any anomolies like a temporary run of bad form (or an attempt to manipulate averages by purposeful low scoring). The system works well. (Or at least as well as it can).1 point

Zagar returns to track this weekend, once the 28 days cover is over he will be back in for jeppeson1 point

Seeing one or two comparisons with Birmingham, but its much too soon for that and in any case hopefully its a wrong comparison. Season 1 always a case of get going and survive relatively unscathed, probably on an initial shoestring budget. Getting as far as July is an achievement so completing the season looks good. Hope that with a clearer run-up, season 2 brings better competitively and track prep is more straightforward. But it will need more sponsorship and marketing, and personally I still cant figure out the Foxes branding. Hope it gets changed whilst it still can be!1 point

Actually it isn’t. From a fans point of view, absolutely. But I’ll tell you now there’s an awful lot of riders that hate going there. Doyle is one of them! Until now of course.. Doyle has admitted he missed racing here and wanted to come back. If Mark Lemon said to Doyle there’s one vacancy here, at Northampton, and he offered him the same deal he has for riding for Belle Vue, then he’d now be riding for Northampton it’s as simple as that. Can you imagine the impact the former world champion would have had at a new club trying to establish themselves?? It would have been HUGE for them and their gate receipts. But that didn’t happen did it? Why? You’ve even got supporters now saying they want Northampton to win their home meetings “but not this week” (sorry Phil”) so there’s always going to be self interest across the board from the top to the bottom. We all want our teams to win of course we do, that’s only natural! But we also need a creditable league so that’s a league worth winning. Belle Vue are already sure of the play offs, would it really hurt to see Northampton win a home meeting to help with their next home attendance to keep them going rather than see your team extend their lead at the top of a meaningless table? Im not saying lose it deliberately, we can’t have that nonsense either, but hoping to inflict another home defeat on the bottom club? Come on we need Northampton to succeed as well as try and entice others to join. If those lower down think the likes of Belle Vue, my own team Ipswich, and Sheffield will just hoover up all the GP riders available then they’ll have no interest in joining if they won’t be competitive. Bring in a one rider over 8 rule for next year.1 point
-
No,individually they are all up and down on different occasions, thus giving the results we are getting.1 point
-
It’s not about Belle Vue, and that’s the issue, the league is bigger than just one team, it’s in the interests of all promoters that all teams are competitive enough to at least win home matches and provide some sort of spectacle away. That was always the way back in the day, keep the home fans happy and they will keep coming back.1 point
-
Personally I think this was pushed by Poole knowing only Thompson and Lawson were over 8 and knowing they had cairns and rushen coming in at reserve.1 point
-
Doyle could be out of Krosno and replaced with Zagar due to the middle finger issue to his own fans and the arguments within the pits. Zagar has been added to the team for the weekend, currently Doyle will remain but if poor atmosphere continues it could lead to something else.1 point
-
Sounds like it.Just another rule make up on the back of day packet. Can see it being scrapped next season when everyone will probably have 2 rider over 8 at the end of this season. Then the sh*t will hit the fan.1 point

Just out of interest, Ove, who is now 93 and no.1 on the list has just been for a motor bike ride, starting from his home in Tranås Sweden, first to Karlskrona for an overnight ferry to Gdynia Polen, made a short break in Mragowo, then to Kaunas and a night stay, next Vilnius and Riga, where he had planned to spend the night, but the forecast was for a bad rainstorm the next day so he carried on to Tallin. He then woke up to terrible rain and got to the ferry terminal very wet for the ferry to Stockholm He said afterwards, "After a most enjoyable trip I loved every minute on the bike. Now I am home and my wife Ioana is happy as she worries when I am away on my bike ride." Just to repeat - he is now 93 years old!1 point

i am not having a go at Lasse just showing current averages, with the new gsa he would have dropped to reserve so who knows he may have done well. But i can see Berwicks dilema with the way Jordan has been riding, and no doubt other clubs would have taken notice as well.1 point

This is really tough to call. Glad Kevin Juhl Pedersen is in the 1-7 again (Let's make it permanent) and Dane's normally take a liking to the AFA so I think he could shine. Tom Brennan holds the key as to which way this meeting goes.1 point

Here’s the first running of heat ten last night. Cooper Rushen doesn’t kick Etheridge at all, just outgated him and Etheridge falls. All four back fair decision.1 point

I dont condone what jye did. He shouldnt have done it. But let's not go there with the minor angle. Play with the big boys. You get dealt with like a big boy.1 point

Should imagine the rule makers will be summoning Etheridge to explain himself. Throwing a punch at a minor carries a severe penalty.1 point
