  1. Think you answered your own question there, all reliant on technology and a fully charged phone, in my world a £20 note trumps all of that, especially when internet signal is poor. My wallet is a battered old leather one and always easy to find, don't need to go scrolling through my pockets to find it . If I go into any establishment or car park and it is digital or card payment only, I vote with my feet. None of these systems were brought in to aid the public, they were foisted onto us by the banks and technology platforms ( Apple, Google, Paypal, Klarna) to skim profits off every transaction

  7. I thought that when a rider was suspended that his racing licence was suspended for whatever period of time, obviously not though is Lawson has ridden in Denmark, why would you just suspend a rider from British Speedway? ... ah yes, because it's British Speedway!

  8. Looks like BSPL have followed the rulebook in putting together the line-up this time around. For the original staging, they didn't, hence the real reason for the postponement.

  9. You only have to sit out 7 days for a non speedway injury and where you were replaced by a facility Simply still not fit

  10. I don't think the WiFi signal is great at The Coliseum either for these systems to work efficiently. The people on the gate (I drive in and park at stadium so pay in car) struggled early season to scan multiple tickets I had purchased on my phone so I always try to have the right amount of cash ready for those travelling in my car that day. It does tend to be much quicker this way and less stressful for the gate staff which is appreciated by them too.

  11. Is Mr Lawson the new Craig Cook of Ipswich and Poole 🤔🤔😜

  12. See, you have to remember that a huge amount of the regular posters were "seniors", and sadly, old age has taken it's toll. Thing is, everybody was knowledgeable, everybody wanted to learn, and everybody wanted to "discuss" things in a reasonable and friendly manner. There has been an increased number of younger members who have come on board, and love to bitch about us old'uns living in the past. Same as speedway in general, I suppose? Those of us who are still hanging on have become disenchanted by all the crap and insults posted on here. The Years Gone By section was an incredibly active section of the forum, and that's what kept a lot of us going. Now, nobody seems interested in that, which is heartbreaking. Not only is speedway history such a big part of the sport, but we can learn from the past, instead of rolling on relentlessly, repeating the same mistakes that are/were never going to work. British speedway is NOT dead. It still has a future, yet judging by the majority of comments you see on the BSF and Facebook groups, you'd think that it was dead and buried years ago. No, that was just the civility and respect that we had on this forum years ago...

  13. If Douglas rides can only see a Leicester victory. Poor choice getting in Palm-Toft, Oscar Berwick would have more chance of scoring some points😀

  22. No idea who would be available because whilst its the only match in the UK tonight i am not clued up on foreign commitments. Based on Kings average though, i would have looked at Dan Thompson or Niklai Klindt, especially the latter, good gating and going pretty well right now.

  23. Lawson is riding in Denmark this evening. Scored 4 from four outings so probably won't be asking him back.

  24. Really? You know the tracks going to be a slick dust bowl with and you book Chris Harris, he rode their recently with Glasgow and struggled because he couldn’t get out of the gate.

  29. I dont think it is the reason but closing down another track is not the answer. Even if i didnt support Poole I would not want it closed.

  31. I was under the impression that King hurt his ribs when He fell in heat 11 at Kings Lynn so is therefore a speedway related injury.

  32. If it meant getting rid of most of the fans (you're an exception) off here then I am sure it would be well worth it. Steve Lyric is an absolute wanchor and along with the other dodgy geezer who these days acts like Bournemouths biggest fan with zero knowledge of football, is the reason most fans despise Poole.

  35. probably got fed up with the online service provider taking a cut out of the price ? bad enough with cards, but some of these "booking agents" really take the pi$$h, if you give someone a tenner, you are a tenner down and they are a tenner up, if you pay them by Paypal or similar either it costs you more than a tenner, or the recipient gets less than a tenner !

  38. It always happens once a rider even contemplates retiring they seem to have fall away quite quickly ,the CL is a possibility next season but IMO now he should make this his last season as a rider .

  39. I agree about Nicholls sadly - even his home form is a shadow of what it was in 2024 guesting for Doyle. As far a a replacement goes, Nicholls is still on a quite inflated rolling average, and Rew might just fit, I would like to see him back. Not sure about dropping Lawson - he is a solid rider everywhere but recently admitted he's a one-man band. Maybe organising some off track help for him is a better answer.

  41. Also televised/streamed meetings tend to run for a couple of hours do they not? A three hour broadcast with half an hour each end for build up/analysis? Last night finished just after half 9. Most meetings this year have been done by 9:15, any quicker than that and personally I'd feel short changed.

  42. I would love to come, Chris. However, I am unable to travel far these days. It is with regret I won't be able to attend. I do , however, send my very best wishes for the success of your endeavours.

  44. The riders of a certain level can do what they want, given there are so few of them... They hold down two positions and often are HL's in both leagues.. Meaning they are pretty much "bomb proof".. Those who say we cannot have "one big league" due to the disparate standards between the riders that would need to be used, need to imagine what the next five years or so are going to bring when all the "vastly experienced" DU's have retired... Many teams will be using current NDL lads to DU , and these lads even in five or so years, will still be well off the standard of today's HL DU's..

  45. Sack him off now, Richard Coleman hinted they weren't happy with riders being late, missing track walks, wrong kit & missing parade truck (all done by Lawson) and he doesn't fit the team ethos they seem to be trying to install.

  46. And what happened to Speedway Futures?

  47. And the nonsense of the pre season will not have helped.. I truly have never seen any business or entity commit so much Harikiri on itself as Speedway in the UK has done, particularly over the past 20 years as the digital age has boomed.. Year after year they have made poor decisions which have just compounded the poor decisions from the previous years... Normally a business would fix its issues, even more so when they are so glaring and obvious, and their customers either tell them publicly, or tell them by no longer attending, but still closely following the sport.. I truly would love to know what the promoters vision for the sport is, and where they aspire to take it... As all it currently looks like is this... "Make it to the end of this season, do exactly the same thing next, then rinse and repeat ad infinitum"...
