I think Richard must come on here… Best of luck to him... Others have gone before with pretty much exactly the same observations and plans... Hopefully this fella gets the cut through needed...7 points

Has anyone seen Godfrey & co since Coleman’s interview on Friday or are they still trying to get up after that knockout?? Coleman clearly knows the issues & with a very successful career in motorsport knows what’s needs to be done. That interview was worlds apart from Godfrey in his caravan.7 points

Could you ask Poole why they scored 57 points against Edinburgh? I would have liked a 8-10 point lead for Poole to make the second leg more interesting.6 points

I think the difference with Richard is that his career has been built in motorsport. He understands what’s needed commercially & also has the contacts to make it happen. The big IF is it can only happen if the BSPL are going to listen. He is last chance saloon for the sport. He appears to have the ears of the FIM & the poles so I am optimistic.4 points

The frustrating thing is these are not even earth shattering things that are difficult to do. I even liked his comment that if guests are needed, the manager should have a spare set of club fork covers in his car so they seamlessly blend in. Again, really not difficult to do. There just seems to be a “can’t be @rsed” attitude amongst far too many people involved in running clubs in this country unfortunately.4 points

Here I am sitting in a tin can I couldn't give a flying f☆ck what he wins I'd only want to know if he is riding so I could ensure not a penny of mine goes to a promotion that gives him a place4 points

If its true that they are looking to increase the points limit All clubs must run an U21 British Rider at reserve All clubs must also run a Foreign U21 Rider at reserve If they can get the ITV4 deal over the line which sounds like the more lucrative deal being worked on Perhaps that's enough for the likes of Glasgow to give the top flight a chance, and I think if the TV deal goes through, you may see Oxford move up again but obviously not do the Championship aswell this time around. Could see the following strength sides, put together for example purposes3 points

No thread for this tells you all fans are pretty fed up with this season and it’s been pretty boring Belle Vue should hit 60 against a witches side with riders that can’t ride the NSS I’m sure Belle Vue would like to test themselves against a true witches 1-7 like last season but obviously the winter at Ipswich put paid to us being competitive…. Still Belle Vue have got revenge for the mauling they took at the hands of the witches last season Hopefully the last time a few of the witches wear the race jacket and we can get back at top line team next season3 points

A lot of things need to happen before any of this slots into place but let’s hope we hear news sooner rather than later as in all honesty rules and regulations for next year should be in place already3 points

Well he's addressed two of my pet hates in that interview - guesting for your rivals and unmown centre greens. He'll do me. He's essentially identified all the issues that fans have over a period of time but have been ignored about. I think he'll go down well with supporters if not promoters, but this opportunity simply has to be grasped by British speedway.3 points

Marek Cieslak has claimed that Torun doctored the track for Robert Lambert. There was virtually no overtaking in the latter part of yesterday's meeting and Cieslak claims this was done intentionally by Torun as this suited Lambert.3 points

Tell you who wont be coming up. Your mob because they havent got the bottle to hang out with the big clubs. Poole just a small club now2 points

Masters more likely to ride for Poole than Glasgow imo especially if Oxford move up. You can have Lawson if you want.2 points

Will definitely keep an eye on this thread to see what RC comes up with. Could be very interesting!2 points

Think Kvech showed that he is the standard and is still young and improving.Freddie can still mix it , but is not consistent enough nowadays.2 points

When's the last time Pickering or Masters had an average low enough to guest for Glasgow?2 points
-
well theres so much young british talent about .. plenty of room for the hateful to have their way , and see Jasons go to waste . or maybe just fill the teams with untried aussies making their way to poland instead2 points

It was only a matter of time before somebody from Poole piped up, their slice of cake has been bigger than most others for a fair while after all.2 points

Which perhaps tells you that Glasgow don't pay the megabucks some people think they do - otherwise they'd be taking it!2 points

Does anyone have any idea why he (Rowe) was doing a bit of gardening at the start line after the victory parade? I think it was Harris who was being interviewed while the other riders stood around; meanwhile Rowe is kicking the dirt on the first gate. We passed a guy with a pint in his hand shouting “Anders, the meetings finished mate! We’re out! You can’t stop digging!”😂2 points
-
I think with the way Rowe was auditioning for a team place last Friday, especially with him waving and playing to the crowd after his three wins like he had been there all season, it wouldn't surprise me to see him in red next year.2 points

Then if true, Cairns and Dickson are idiots. Any association with that scumbag deserves a drop in attendance and gate receipts. He's got to stay out of prison between now and then though, and given his recent exploits, that isn't guaranteed.2 points

Pirates must be heavy, heavy favourites for this. Checked the live updates website; Palm Toft, Mountain, Ablitt, Hook and Ingram scored a collective 8 points across 19 rides at Wimborne Road in August. That’s incredible. This could be Pickering and Harrison versus Poole. It’s remarkable - and a credit to them, I should add - that Scunthorpe are even in the final. An exceptional season from them. Championship level speedway has delivered, big time, on the entertainment front over the past week, so here’s hoping for more of the same.2 points

Putting his money where his mouth is... Makes perfect sense, given he runs Speedway at Ipswich and runs the GP series... Hopefully he gets the track to deliver several racing lines as the GP lads don't make too many mistakes when in front.... But plenty of tracks on the GP circuit deliver poor racing and people still watch.. I presume the NSS and June 12 are entwined currently, however one night, with no extra seating, could be a tough profit maker, and admission charges for 4,500 or so would have to be on the very high side... Plus many hotels in and around Manchester are already showing fully booked with Oasis being in town.. Maybe the NSS could negotiate a much reduced fee to run it?.. It could be possible if no one else wants to run one I would suggest... Does Glasgow hold over 4,000? If so, maybe they may want to join the GP circus?... At least if the GP doesn't get ran at the NSS then the Aces attendances should not be impacted like they have the last two years for those meetings leading up to it, and just after... A new GP venue is always something to gain some interest, so best of luck to the venture...2 points

The title was nothing more than a council vanity moniker wasn't it? Purely to attract/enable certain grants Never anything official from the Speedway hierarchy That said a development of that kind should've been the sort of project a significant proportion of the TV money previously garnered was put towards2 points

It doesn’t help young home grown riders either. the ideal scenario would be Glasgow put out a junior team. When Ace went to Redcar and ride for both teams he improved vastly. I know Mario wouldn’t qualify for this, but if we had a team in that league headed by Hodder and Hagon it would have helped them no end.2 points

Comfortably 2,000 imo, probably 2.5, although kids go free of which there is always a lot at Shielfield. No words re last night, great set of fans Plymouth have too, brilliant. Shielfield was electric all night, from the second Morris got announced for 27, to the riders going round on the victory parade, if speedway was like that every week, there would be no problems across the sport.2 points

Terrific meeting with race after race to keep you well entertained. It was one in the eye for those that (continue) to down-sell our wonderful sport. Even when the result was sorted, riders still rode to the edge and offered fabulous entertainment. Speedway is not just about ticking the heats off and gaining a result before moving onto the next. It’s that 60 second adrenaline fuelled burst of entertainment, or it should be. Another of Richard’s remarks on his recent podcast appearance that I liked was the one about improving the racing rather than prep the track for the home team. A thinly veiled dig at his own fan base following their “let’s make it knarly” comment last season. He’s not bothered about whose feathers he ruffles with his make the track for the best racing comment. It was great to see Tom shake off his witches blues with a fine display rewarded with a heat 15 nomination. The Tom of old is still in there it’s just finding the right surroundings to nurture it. I’m looking forward to coming up against a Coleman inspired team next season and hope last year wasn’t the one off most fans expected.1 point

That quote was the funniest I’ve heard for a while. I think he thinks he is racing Wroclaw and not Ipswich 🤣😂.1 point

Would love to see luke at Plymouth next season, maybe a smaller technical track could be good for his progression. I know you said to me he had a few offers for next season already when you were down here for u.19s.1 point

Well he will be on Oct 7th!!😂1 point

You're right, but a stopped clock, etc. Why don't the LCQs just go 3-5-7-9 v 4-6-8-10? Is it designed to give an advantage to 3rd place?1 point

😂 I actually wish you were correct because it would mean speedway had a degree of loyalty and passion, but I’m afraid I very much doubt it. If Pickering or Masters were paid enough, they’d be in Tigers’ colours next season. A speedway riders’ career is far too short and nowhere near remunerative enough to hold fantasy grudges over rivals of former clubs.1 point

I think this a point that those huffing and puffing and having a major meltdown that the GP is at “that sh!thole” need to understand. There’s currently issues around holding the GP at the NSS this year and it has to be held somewhere. Foxhall is one of the few with the infrastructure (with more redevelopment coming) to actually hold it. Even Glasgow isn’t yet ready by all accounts.1 point

I think the fact Berwick have a 100 percent record at home proves fans will turn up to watch a winning side at home. Throw in a cup final after knocking out the league champions elect as well and its no wonder the crowd was big. Fans dont care about the racing on the whole , they want to see their team win. Exeter were proof of this, great spectacle of a track with you being so close to the action but mainly gate and go, heavy home wins every week and they had good crowds right up until they shut despite usually being rubbish away from home. Morris will be one of the signings of the season next year I am sure, he has been flying the second half of the season.1 point

As much as it would be a lose to King's Lynn, if we can't put a super team together for 27, I want to see Cooper at Belle Vue. Develop the gating and super high speeds required for Poland. With Lambert now just reaching the pinnacle of the sport I'd like to see Cooper make moves now. A repeat of the past few seasons at King's Lynn, his career will be stunted if sticks around at King's Lynn. Same for Jody too. King's Lynn has become rather suffocating for all rider's. In 2027, this club (with the riders potentially available) need to take a risk and be "ALL IN".1 point

They needed to call it The National Speedway Stadium to get the project over the line with Manchester Council. I was present at the meeting when the request was made by David and Chris. I never had a vote at this time and from what I recall it never went to a vote, the consensus was that it was in the best interests of the sport (leave it lol) to agree to the request. I suppose you could say Wembley is the home of the England team but they do play the odd match at different stadiums in England on occasion, and u21/u19 sides rarely play at Wembley. I don’t see much difference with the GP at Ipswich rather than Belle Vue, but I take your point about it.1 point

The CC is worked out on bore and stroke, even if you sleeve down the inlet manifold the bike will still be a 500cc albeit with less power, you would need to sleeve the cylinder bore and fit a smaller piston to produce a 250cc engine, much like Matchless did in the day, the 350 Matchless and 500 matchless single had the same stroke, but the 350cc had a 69mm piston and the 500cc had a 82.5mm piston1 point

I’ll also add, taking a victory lap after winning a race. Riders, just bloody do it, it costs you naff all and you’re doing it for the people who contribute towards your wages. Take it a step further collect the team flag every time and take that on your victory lap with you.1 point
