  1. The quote from Howe :- "I was in the pits watching it on the screen and was pretty confident that Zach Cook may have left the track" ... Well that obviously left the the SCB no choice then. A 'definitely maybe' is clearly a FACT! Let's just shut up & move on now. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. Apparently according to the Star, 2 referees with over 20 years experience supported Carrington's conclusion and how could they not? To exclude Cook we need to see evidence that the outer edge of his back wheel was over the inner edge of the white line. In the view from the outside, the back wheel is obscured by Pickering. The view from the back only shows the inside of the wheel, with the white line obscured. We've seen no image to show that the outside of the wheel was over the inside of the line. The SCB statement is therefore a farce, unless they have evidence that wasn't available to the referee.

  2. This should stop testimonials for the riders though (not benefit meetings). When you are declaring yourself as self employed and the clubs get nothing from you moving to another club, then you should give up your right to a testimonial (surely cannot have it both ways).

  3. Tom is one of those riders that benefits from a busy schedule and riding regularly. Some said he took on too much a couple of seasons ago, but that works for him. When rides dried up abroad this year, his calendar suddenly looked very sparse and that didn’t help him regain his form. His double leg break last winter must also have been a factor, so was him being thrust in to a number 1 berth at Ipswich because of the lateness of the takeover. Everything cobbled together created a doom loop for the lad and he never really got going. I’m 100% convinced though that next year will see a return to form due to these factors no longer being an issue. His average now in the top flight is an attractive one that will see him out of the pressure heat leader positions for somebody who will now benefit from his poor season. Regular Championship fixtures keeping him busy will also benefit him hugely. IF Oxford have secured his services, then they’ve pulled off the Championship signing of the winter and IMO will have the League’s top man in their side.

  4. 3rd visit to Redcar this year from worky, yet again delays for track work, not good enough as been like this every visit, enjoyed the meeting, hope doyle and Theo are ok after big offs, both walked away thankfully. The race with bomber and klindt was epic, Charlie southwick a good 2 points prospect, apparently travels from Dorset to ride Speedway wherever he can, just hope that the south coast club who doesn't promote junior speedway, jumps in with ££s to sign him, deserves to go to a club that's helps juniors out

  5. Daniel Bewley has made no secret of his opposition to the planned changes to British speedway. The Betard Sparta Wrocław player criticised the idea of making the possibility of competing in foreign leagues conditional on having a contract in the UK. He used strong words in an online discussion, referring to human rights and describing the proposed solution as "modern slavery." The new rules are to come into force from the 2027 season and may also affect leading British riders competing in Poland. BEWLEY SHOT VERY ABOUT FORCE START The British ACU wants players using its licence to also participate in domestic competitions. Under the announced regulations, from 2027, competing in the British league is to be a condition for obtaining permission to race abroad. In practice, this would mean that riders such as Daniel Bewley and Robert Lambert would have to include performances in the UK if they wanted to continue competing in the Polish league. The idea sparked Bewley's opposition. The Sparta Wrocław player referred on platform X to a fan's post criticising the attempt to force Lambert to drive in British competitions. There is no way to enforce this," Bewley wrote. The rider also said he believed the court would reject such a solution "in two seconds." In his assessment, he referred to human rights and used the term "modern slavery." His position is primarily to limit players' ability to decide for themselves where they want to work and which leagues to compete in. BEWLEY DRIVES ONLY IN THE UK The British man's statement is particularly telling because he does not dissociate himself from his home league. He has represented Manchester-based Belle Vue Aces for years and has also signed with the club for the 2027 season. His objection therefore concerns not driving in the UK itself, but making the right to perform in other countries dependent on it. The situation is different for Robert Lambert, who has not competed regularly in British competitions in recent years. The player had previously made a possible return conditional on limiting the schedule to one match day a week. The announced solution does not meet this condition: British games are expected to take place both on Mondays and Thursdays. For players, this would mean having to include two league dates in the weekly calendar. There are also travels, equipment preparation and the need to reconcile duties in several games. TWO FOREIGN LEAGUES TO CHOOSE FROM The obligation to compete in the UK is part of a wider arrangement for the international speedway calendar. On the occasion of the three-year agreement between leagues and federations, which is to apply from 2027, it was also announced that it would limit the number of foreign leagues in which a player with a contract in Poland would be able to play simultaneously. According to the rules presented, he will be able to choose at most two of the three leagues: British, Swedish and Danish. If British players have to compete in their homeland, they will be left with the option of choosing only one of the other two leagues - Swedish or Danish. Such a solution would limit the freedom to plan for the season and could influence players' contractual decisions. In the case of riders performing in Poland, an additional obligation would mean the need to adjust the calendar to the requirements of the British federation. WHAT DO THE NEW REGULATIONS MEAN FOR SPARTA WROCŁAW? The issue is also important for Betard Sparta Wrocław. Daniel Bewley has represented the club since 2020 and recently announced the extension of his contract for another two seasons. So Sparta has further sporting plans with the Briton. If the announced regulations come into force in the form presented, maintaining the possibility of Bewley's starts in Poland will also require meeting the conditions for his performances in his homeland. The ultimate importance of the legislation will depend on its implementation and how it is enforced. Supporters of the changes may point out that the presence of more top players would elevate the level and appeal of British competitions. On the other hand, there are questions about the freedom to choose leagues, the load on the schedule and the possibility of reconciling additional starts with duties in Poland. Daniel Bewley made his position clear: he disagrees with a solution that makes the ability to race abroad conditional on a mandatory contract in his home league. His strong words show that the proposed regulations can become a subject of further discussion in the international speedway environment Interesting bit in there. Dan back at belle vue. Sorry Ipswich

  6. Still lots going on behind closed doors, lots of obstacles but nobody is giving up on 2027 yet.

  7. Again why do they treat the fans with such contempt? The lack of communication is shocking. The AGM is actually important and newsworthy to supporters. Pretty sure we all look forward to hearing the fallout from the meeting, seeing what the points limits are and the make up of the leagues and rules. We rely on second or even third hand sources for an actual AGM date or “in the knows” on here to leak things, and none of us would have known it had even been postponed if not for Plymouth stating that fact. Why is it all such a closely guarded secret? Would it really hurt them to publish a date for the AGM through the official channels, and update supporters on events like postponements? Not good enough and it hasn’t been for donkeys years.

  9. I'm sure a few years back Redcar put an extra £1 or £2 on the admission to pay for an air fence, then once it was paid off, the entrance fees went down, could this be a possibility to make up any shortfall / pay back a SRBF loan?

  10. He clearly meant he wasn't enjoying his speedway at the start of 2026 and coming to BV gave him his enjoyment back. Clearly nothing to do with his time at Ipswich. We ha e enjoyed having him as much as he enjoyed being here. Got to have a chat with him Friday night in the Craven suite, throughly nice guy, world class rider and great servant to British Speedway.

  11. Typically classless from you, you may want to consider that these" forum fannies " probably, unlike you, post money across a turnstile and support Berwick Speedway in a very real way. That, IMO, entitles them to their opinion, even if I disagree with it. As for Jye`s comments, he can say want he wants, though he may want to consider he is slagging off those who go to paying his wages. Sometimes if you have nothing decent to say its best to say nothing and do you talking on the track.

  18. But to sign up riders rules/ points limit have to be in place and signed off at the AGM. So if you wait too long riders are unsure where they may ride, so will sign deals in Sweden / Denmark and leave the UK in the lurch, just like last year with Doyle and others.

  19. Wasn’t Fricke only let go because his average was so high it didn’t leave much room for the others and would have left them too top heavy…his average is now way lower than it was a year ago so it would be far easier to fit him back in next season

  20. Could it maybe the other way around ? Just Jen’s comment that announcement they will be making in a few weeks was good for the club and British Speedway

  21. I do hope so but not hopeful at this point. All I'm told is maybe 2028 to get the sport back. We've moved on with our business plan to bring speedway back at a lower level and then build. I do hope your connections are good but just cant see it unfortunately

  22. They have been talking for the last few months and the alledgally new polish rules have been around several weeks, all this should have previously discussed, and last season signed off, and any new rules put in place for 2027. It's not rocket science

  24. I always hoped when the asset system disappeared, it would be easier for Brits to get team places? You could spend a lot of money flying an Aussie over, or spend time & effort sorting out a visa for a European, they can be poor meaning a waste of time or good & leave to go to another club. In theory the likes of Alfie Bowtell, Ben Morley, Danyon Hume (when fit) should get team spots every year? It wasn't that long ago Dan Thompson started without a Champ team.

  25. I don’t think you can blame the lad that much, he’s rode for the club for 3 years which is a reasonable length of time and wants to move on. If he had slagged the club off or left mid way through a season I could maybe understand some anger but he’s within his rights to decide where he wants to ride

  30. I get that and as a competition the Premiership needs a massive overhaul but I really don't think the season itself has been any worse than the last two or three , although I accept the bar is a low one. We desperately need new teams and riders, less guests, less doubling up and a better fixture list. And for promoters to follow Mr Coleman. In the meantime congrats to Belle Vue, this title doesnt and shouldn't feel any different to any others.

  32. I'm not sure the season has been that bad or certainly not in comparison to other recent ones, sure one team has dominated and I appreciate all the jeopardy in the Play Offs was absent but there's been a lot of hyperbole on here not really warranted. Of course we desperately need a couple more sides and an injection of fresh, interesting new riders but thats been the case for several years. As always we live in hope for next season so fingers and toes crossed.

  33. No, averages too high. Morris, Battye, Kemp, Jenkins and Etheridge leaves 7.77 for 2 riders (assuming 40 total and that my maths is right). Leaves options along the lines of: Palovaara and a 2 pointer; Or Dayle Wood and Hodder/Foord; Or Mitchell Cluff and Sam Hagon/a 4.00 newcomer. Solid looking team so far, especially around Shielfield. Personally I'd guess Wood and Hodder as the reserves, but Cluff can't go Armadale at all and is a good gater so could be a shrewd signing for Berwick

  38. Can only think they’re wanting to get a TV deal over the line first and that’s still ongoing. Gives them more time to get Eastbourne involved as well although I’m reliably informed that that has run in to issues that are proving difficult to resolve. Again, how long do they wait? Groundhog day 🙄

  39. This issue here for me is that you get those like the comments above bemoaning the play off “qualifiers’ as non events with little riding on them, but a top team winning the league would be far worse in that regard so I’ve never understood this argument. If a dominant team starts to run away with it like Belle Vue this year, then what jeopardy is there for 99% of fixtures from mid-season onwards? Virtually every team in that scenario is riding for nothing. Lynn’s season for example would have been dead and buried with months of the season left (as well as everyone else’s bar Sheffield) but their season remained alive right up until the final week of the season when Ipswich defeated Leicester. There’s more meaningful league fixtures in a play off set up than there is in a “top of the table wins” scenario it’s as simple as that.

  40. From what I remember at the time it was a choice or Rickardsson or Gollob to stay at Foxhall in 99. John & Magda chose Gollob polish ties & all that. That then led to Rickardsson & Weston departing for Lynn Western had Swedish ties. Western then tried to take Chris too.

  42. 1 Richard Lawson © 8.16 2 Jordan Jenkins 5.05 3 Mitchell McDiarmid 5.53 4 William Cairns 6.45 5 Luke Harrison 5.71 6 Slater Lightcap 4.00 7 Cooper Rushen 5.01 The ultimate strength in depth team? 😁 Number 5 is a little weak, although if one of the youngsters breaks out then maybe not, but them reserves would clean up at every track and there's still a strong number 1.

  45. Smart and Lobb lived in Newport at the time of their failed drug tests although neither were riding for Newport at the time. Smart was riding at Swindon and Lobb Exeter. There were stories for weeks before they got caught that they were up to no good but it was was widely known who had grassed them up. A few hard moves by Smart on said rider during his comeback season weren't just random either lol. They should all be tested before each meeting. Like i said a while ago, I worked as a chippy in the mining industry in Aus for a few years and drug tests costed next to nothing. The story that they are too costly is a load of nonsense.
    1 point
  46. Weren't you riding in the era of Frank Smart and Roger Lobb being tested in the same week and failing? They were no random drug tests thats for sure, a certain fellow Welshman had a big hand in getting them caught and fined. And rightly so.
    1 point
  47. Yes there regular drug tests and now at grasstrack but not so much fuel testing, it does still go on but you tend to find if suspicions are raised like fuel or filters or whatever then testing seems to ramp up for the month after, they could sort the fuel problem by using the polish system where the bikes are filled just before the race from the same drum, on the subject of cheating I purchased a famous silencer a couple of weeks back, it was Eddie Kennett’s famous drilled one from about 15 years ago, have to say not the best “modification” I’ve ever seen
    1 point
  48. I’m not sure if the rules have changed but back when I raced they couldn’t do a test on a specific rider even if that rider has been reported or they suspect them, the tests have to be completely random, I would like to know now if some officials at the track are told a few hours in advance that a test is taking place for number 3or 6 or whatever as I do find it strange lately how some riders are arriving late or suddenly don’t appear at all

  49. Well, I can't get my head around Ipswich having the National Stadium. There should be only ONE National Speedway Stadium and that is in Manchester. Purpose built, arguably the very best race track in the Country and is easily accessible from all parts of the Country for GP's, Championships etc. Unless I am picking this up wrong, once again, British Speedway has shot itself in the foot. No offence to Ipswich Fans - but - it is a joke - and a bad one at that.
