And if so, just say that.... Would even give their fund a bit more publicity and urgency to sort, so could bring in some money quickly... No idea why there isn't ever any transparency and engagement with the fans... ie. The very thing that helps keep their hobby surviving in the UK...6 points

Again why do they treat the fans with such contempt? The lack of communication is shocking. The AGM is actually important and newsworthy to supporters. Pretty sure we all look forward to hearing the fallout from the meeting, seeing what the points limits are and the make up of the leagues and rules. We rely on second or even third hand sources for an actual AGM date or “in the knows” on here to leak things, and none of us would have known it had even been postponed if not for Plymouth stating that fact. Why is it all such a closely guarded secret? Would it really hurt them to publish a date for the AGM through the official channels, and update supporters on events like postponements? Not good enough and it hasn’t been for donkeys years.5 points

I don't think any speedway fan has an issue with waiting, especially if it means giving tracks the best possible chance. The issue has never been about that, it's always about communication. If they announced the AGM was being delayed because of things in the pipeline, and kept people abreast (as much as they realistically can), I bet most fans would be pretty satisfied. They don't though, and never have.4 points

It is quite baffling why some would want what appears to be one of the few financially successful clubs to rip up their business plan and operating model to "do something different"... When that "something different" clearly wasn't working back when there were more teams in the top tier, and the sport appeared more stable and had more going for it, than it currently does... If I were running Poole I would expect a lot of incentives to move into the top tier to ensure my balance sheet wasn't negatively impacted, and was protected, and, if I didn't get them, then I would be quite happy to stay where I was...3 points

Not at all... You don't grow any business by opening other units when you don't have the infrastructure in place to ensure the ones you currently have can keep going profitably .. UK Speedway has to share riders now with the number of teams they have, who will therefore ride for any new ones?.. Certainly not enough of them of the required level for another top league team to compete adequately... You actually damage your brand by spreading yourself "too thin" which then results in every one of your businesses starting to suffer, even the current successful ones you have, as your "weakest links" start to drag the business down.. UK Speedway needs to consolidate and sort out it's issues, then build on what it currently has... With a clear plan for gradual growth for the next few years .. It doesn't mean new tracks cannot come on board, but it must be planned properly to ensure it improves UK Speedway and not be, yet another, knee jerk reaction on a whim, which leaves fans saying .. "It can't be like this again next year"... (Again, and again, and again and etc etc etc)..3 points

Typically classless from you, you may want to consider that these" forum fannies " probably, unlike you, post money across a turnstile and support Berwick Speedway in a very real way. That, IMO, entitles them to their opinion, even if I disagree with it. As for Jye`s comments, he can say want he wants, though he may want to consider he is slagging off those who go to paying his wages. Sometimes if you have nothing decent to say its best to say nothing and do you talking on the track.3 points

Riders are self employed and look for the best deals to suit themselves just like any other self employed person…Lambert lives in Poland with a Polish partner and Polish born child…he has every right to ride there and not ride in England …if Britain choose not to pick him for the Speedway of Nations then that’s their choice but there is no way they would ever be able to stop him racing in Poland and in the GP2 points

Lol don’t be silly, who can blame the lad if he doesn’t want to ride over here in derelict stadiums on rubbish tracks? He’s barely ridden over here the past few years and has became world champion. Let’s be honest the only reason Kurtz, Doyle and Holders ride here is because they live here. Going by your reasoning let’s stop Harry Kane, Antony Gordon and Jude Bellingham playing for England because they don’t play in the premier league.2 points

Disagree. Viv will do what's best for himself and no team will be pressured into signing an unknown rider so they can obtain his friend. Viv looks a real talent. Kept an eye on him since he first came over here and his progress has been unreal. Would love to see him at northside next season and I'll certainly be keeping an eye on him in the Aussie meetings in the coming months.2 points

What exactly is the angle in court? Polish contract: you must limit your employment to ours and a maximum of 2 others = not a violation of human rights. ACU licence: you must ride in British speedway to be granted start permission abroad with an ACU licence = violation of human rights...? There's no obligation to take out an ACU licence - I'm sure there's a lot of other federations who would happily allow him to take out a licence. However, as with Polish contracts, you have to deal with the consequences.2 points

Rider doesn’t turn up for a meeting, withholds his services without informing the promotion what’s going on, and it’s the promotions fault? If I was in that position I wouldn’t be paying them a penny either!2 points

Phil Morris has a plan B in the pipeline if the talked about ITV deal doesn't come off. It's with a radio station, but would be less lucrative as there would be no commentary provided. You will be able to hear the roar of the bikes clearly though!2 points

Typical polish media hyperbole as per usual making some massive article out of one tweet in reply to someone highlighting the new proposed rule is essentially singling out Robert Lambert and blackmailing him to ride in the uk. He hasn’t said he’s totally against it or he doesn’t want to ride in the uk or he does want to, merely stated it wouldn’t hold up in court on those grounds, which as a remark is in no way suggesting British riders are slaves just that that’s the angle in court that would have it thrown out. frankly as much as I’d like to lambert back here in the uk for the betterment of uk speedway along with as many other top riders as we can attract I can see why a lad who’s based in Poland, just become world champ riding just on the continent and is about to be a father wouldn’t want the hassle of flying over the to uk every week tbh.2 points

Think the major problem is the promoters were all saying back in March this can’t happen again, things need to be known by July. Well that has long passed and now the AGM has been cancelled. These lot are good at talking a good talk but nothing changes for the better. Transparency is the key, look at Poland they know what’s going on in 2028 let alone 2027. Teams announcing riders before the rules have been ratified isn’t great as keeps the supporters in the dark. And before someone says they will already know the rules, then maybe let the fans know and do away with the AGM then! Announcing riders before the AGM is a risk if for whatever reason 1-2 teams don’t come to the tapes next year as will effect the points limit. Clearly there is a reason why the AGM has been cancelled, tell us why.2 points

Not picking on you at all Diamonds but generally this logic that "let's go NORA" in the event our Ait Fence is not good enough for SCB / BSPL / ACU frankly sickens me and terrifies me. If the powers that be, rightly or wrongly, say an Air Fence is not fit for purpose for the likes of Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris, Richard Lawson and Sam Masters and other to race, how in gods name can anyone then justify sneaking in a season of NORA for Ben Morley, Jack Kingston , and others who are no longer under the SCB banner and indeed dozens of young riders denied the opportunity to ride there as it's deemed unsafe for ACU / SCB and BSPL but safe enough for an Amateur Body. Just think about the consequnces of somebody suffering a life changing injury under those circumstances and then returning in 2028 with a new Air Fence paid for by Sponsors and Supporters. For that reason alone, I think it sould be 2027 with a new Air fence, or 2028 without a new Air fence. TRAINING with one or two riders not RACING fair enough but full on competitive Racing NOPE! As an aside, a very interesting posting from Norris Norris (Floppy) on Plymouth Facebook... I assume he means his beloved Eastbourne and very telling i think that he believes saving Teams is better than bringing back his old Team as some sort of stunt to prop up an 8 Team League that is looking increasingly like a Coleman vanity and ego project...well said Floppy! He posted "Rather than looking at spending 100s of thousands getting former speedway venues back,, it should be priority for the BSPL to finance the rest needed for the air fence immediately and then let Mark and Plymouth concentrate on building from their amazing 2026 season. Regards Flop xx"2 points

Given the major surgery required to the table topping Aces and the new U21 rules plus the fact it seems to be 37-38 limit on the top five, the murmurings seem to indicate this team to try and retain the trophy is. I’m not sure why people are so impatient? The league starts next April so does it really matter if the AGM is in November, December, January, February? If the wait means the return/reopening of a couple of tracks and a television deal then it’s worth the wait? If that also allows Plymouth some more time to get their air fence fund complete so they can run then that’s another good thing. Surely we all want as many tracks as possible running next season?2 points

This should stop testimonials for the riders though (not benefit meetings). When you are declaring yourself as self employed and the clubs get nothing from you moving to another club, then you should give up your right to a testimonial (surely cannot have it both ways).2 points

If its true that they are looking to increase the points limit All clubs must run an U21 British Rider at reserve All clubs must also run a Foreign U21 Rider at reserve If they can get the ITV4 deal over the line which sounds like the more lucrative deal being worked on Perhaps that's enough for the likes of Glasgow to give the top flight a chance, and I think if the TV deal goes through, you may see Oxford move up again but obviously not do the Championship aswell this time around. Could see the following strength sides, put together for example purposes1 point
-
If it's ITV4 they will certainly be hoping the potential extra "eyeballs" generate more income via sponsorship, and maybe more clicks of the turnstiles due to free access to the sport increasing its profile...1 point

I don’t think that is the case. The sport needs an open minded approach as was the case years back and an example is Rye House before the Rockets moved from Rayleigh in 1974. Before that Rye use to operate on a open licence and I believe one of the main open meetings was the Ace of Hearts, happy to be corrected on this point. Going forward what is required is a reality check. If some tracks could offer open meetings but not team racing and if others want to participate at a level which is a notch down from what we have now but is designed to be competitive and a stepping stone for riders so be it but until clubs encourage growth from the grass roots upwards the sport is continually chasing its tail for a stream of talent to break through into a potential professional league which in reality is only the top league. The sport in this country can only afford to provide a full time income at the top level where because of the top names they can attract a certain level of sponsor but below that reliance is on local sponsors or run by offsetting losses against the main operating business of the promoter (not speedway related so it is a hobby) to fund rider contracts but this is a precarious route when you look at the financial situation businesses across the UK find themselves in with increased costs from NI to business rates(where applicable) energy costs, medical cover, fuel costs etc. What right minded sole would enter the speedway arena where you have a cartel running the sport, lack of training for young talent and rules that are set to stop all riders breaking into the sport. It didn’t happen years back and you now have Nora because of the intransigence of a few who in charge for some reason have the attitude it is my way or no way. How many riders have been lost to the sport because the rider points average has impeded a riders progress and promoters ignore development of the sport in favour win the league at all cost and manipulate the rules to achieve success. Every existing track in the UK (running now or dormant) should automatically be granted a licence to run meetings. The level they want to operate should be declared by each track operator at the end of October and the league racing participants as opposed to open licences be declared in the first week of November and then the leagues can be determined from which the following seasons planned programme can be agreed. Of course that depends on a number of other factors but for now you have disarray with riders looking to plan for next season but the UK is dragging it’s heals which is the same as usual year on year because forward planning does not feature in the operating model. No rider in their right mind is going to hang around on the basis of a promise. The UK authorities need to up the ante and consider the mean of the word ‘professional’1 point

The greater good is surely about clubs being financially sound no matter what level they operate at. Poole have done and won the Elite/Premiership for several seasons eventually losing money and fans. Putting themselves at financial risk simply to make up the numbers in a smaller league does not make good business sense. And Poole is a business for the Fords not a hobby!!1 point

You would want to keep Brennan at two or four then I would think.. Someone else will benefit from his average if not .1 point

i don’t think it’s any violation of human rights whatsoever but it’s clearly an attempt to strong arm lambert and possibly one or two others and to what end? For them to say cheers then I’ll get a polish license next year best of luck in the SoN and World Cup going forward1 point

Massive Polish Zloty in exchange for power and control. The Polish contract is a classic case of how much is your freedom worth to you when it comes to your Speedway career? No point in any rider complaining about any ruling by the Polish because they've got no choice but to oblige once the ink is dry on the Polish contracts that they've personally signed.1 point

But no-one has said this have they? As far as I can see they've just made a rule that it can't be older than xx years but with no justification on why, certainly nothing to suggest it does not continue to provide an effective safety barrier. Perhaps the HSE should do some testing.1 point

Dan is one of my favourite riders, However he needs to suck it up and accept it. If you take the massive zloty on offer then you agree to hand your career over to your Polish Club where they will control your Speedway career. Speedway Merchandise1 point

Can only assume the pre AGM they had at the end of September ironed out a lot of unknowns as teams in both leagues have been pressing on with team building, with the actual AGM that was scheduled for November being more of a rubber stamp event and possibly (hopefully) clarity on possible TV deal1 point
-
Exactly this. We weren’t even told the date of the AGM in the first place. Ironically, that was pretty much leaked by Plymouth as well due to them publicly asking for financial help to raise funds by the 3rd of November!! This isn’t new either. We have to find snippets on here every winter of when the AGM is taking place, it’s shouldn’t be the case. As you rightly say, is it that difficult for the BSPL to name a date for the AGM, and then inform the very people who keep the sport in this country running, about delays and the reasons behind it? I’m not talking about a daily commentary here and release all details as we all understand negotiations can be delicate and confidential, but a simple “The annual AGM has been delayed to a later date whilst we negotiate a TV deal and/or attempt to bring another club in to the Premiership. More clarification will come in due course” That shouldn’t be difficult.1 point

I don't entirely disagree with Bewley's point, but read the room FFS. Human rights? Modern slavery? Belle Vue rode 20 league meetings + 4 KO cup meetings between May - October. Nobody is asking him to go to war here. What about the fans paying upwards of £25 a week at Belle Vue - probably to see him more than anyone else? The fans who pay money to buy his merchandise and support him in GPs across Europe? People earning a fraction of what he does, but choosing to financially support him anyway. There were no complaints about modern slavery when he was riding 47 meetings in the Premier League & National League in 2016, when he wanted the opportunity to be a speedway rider (nor the season immediately afterwards when he dropped Edinburgh to go to Glasgow instead, but whatever...). I like watching him, and as I said, I don't completely disagree, but come on.1 point

Buys extra time to generate funds though. If I was a Plymouth regular I'd be happy to pay £50 a month throughout the season to help keep my club open. But I can't just drop £500 in one go...1 point

The meeting just about summed up the Redcar season, promised much but disappointed. The ‘guest track curator ‘ got the track wrong, too much loose stuff resulting in Doyle not lasting one bend. Track blading required meaning delays on a cold damp night and not much overtaking to talk about. Not very entertaining. Swales got his good crowd but a few drifted away, surprised to see Charles Wright in the crowd . Thought young Southwick was the surprise rider, Lawson should have been the winner but thats the result of second chance finals and Kemp took it. Heres to a Redcar revamp in 2027.1 point

There in lies the problem, comparison to Poland. British Speedway will never ever get to, or even come close to their level. Poland are rightly so, looking to a 1 club model alongside SEC, SGP & World Cups. They have an extensive amount of dollar to keep rider's tied down. The UK, Sweden, Denmark & to a point Germany can only ever be a feeder to Poland's top 2 tiers. We have to accept & embrace that. Instead of being angry, we should be proud of our lads being over in Poland achieving (or atleast trying to) those levels of the sport. For British Speedway, we want to keep, and increase the number of clubs we already have. Also steadily build the numbers that come through the turnstiles. We CANNOT currently hold riders down to 1 league as it's just not financially viable. Doors will close, and rider's lost forever. Without being too political, the white man demographic is shrinking at an alarming rate in this country, it's a problem also in other major European countries. Do you want to guess which country is economically stronger than ever and heavily restricts asylum?? People don't like to see it but these things do go hand in hand. How many black and brown are on the terraces in UK Speedway?? It matters to our sports future.1 point

I did quite a bit of digging and it was 134,000 which made it the 3rd best on ITV4 for that week. Trying to work out how good that is? For context it would've been 6th on Sky Sports for that week however there was no Premier League football. It did beat most hundred cricket matches though.1 point
