I'll start....

I see your £15k and raise it by twenty pounds...:D

Could be a long thread this...:D

I seem to remember the bond has changed down the years with the last I heard it being £50k..

However, I also seem to remember it changing into assets also being part of the bond, rather than just cash, hence new promoters in particular were encouraged to make riders into their assets..

(Which also often meant more, unattached in the UK, overseas journeymen coming over who became as asset. Great for UK rider development!!)..

Obviously, there are no assets anymore, so if a track closes the BSP no longer inherits the riders and are, therefore, no longer able to either loan or sell them to other teams to help pay the debts of the closed track..

I can't believe the bond is £50k though anymore to be honest, given so few people seem interested in coming into the sport to promote...

£15,025, my final bid...

Me too! I heard it was 50k I had a discussion with someone at Arena a few years ago who said it was that but that relates to the Stuart Douglas / Jon Cook era

Maybe the lack of riders being an asset is the big sticking point 🤔 as now all can be sold is a licence to run speedway at a track, if you have permission of the stadium owner, then a bigger bond maybe required as if the venture flops, them at the top table can't take the assets (riders) as they are now totally self employed hiring themselves out from march to October. Looks to be a total shambles IMO

If Phil Morris is involved , it has probably been over watered.

Who is actually paying Phil morris ? He isn’t on the bspl board as he not a promoter and he not listed as a director on speedway futures Ltd, so who exactly is he working for ?

I think he's sponsored by Thames Water.

Today’s Speedway Star from Jenkins..

”There was a lot of talk of me being with Ipswich again, and I spoke briefly with their new promotion, but it seems a change in the rules has put a stop to me having a low enough average for them to fit me in”

Thats interesting for a couple of reasons. Firstly, if the six is who I was reliably told (Brennan, Lawson, King, Musielak, Nicholls, Edwards RS), then Jenkins DOES still fit as the seventh rider on his GSA with normal British reduction. I assume the rule he’s hinting at is the 25% rule 🤷🏼‍♂️ if that’s what he means, then it hasn’t been a change in the rules at all as someone pulled up that rule about him not getting that reduction twice a few weeks ago. Maybe he’s referring to something else?

Anyway, bottom line is he’s not in the team.

Secondly, that reaffirms that Louis has had nothing to do with building this team and the new owners already have their feet under the table.

Edit: Unless the average used for Nicholls is his Premiership average of 5.55, and not his converted Championship average of 5.39? In which case would leave 4.44, with Jenkins on 4.49. Could also explain the rumoured no go for Thorssell even on 4.5 as he wouldn’t fit either..

I’m not sure that’s the case though. Pretty sure the average used would be a Championship converted average, and not an established Premiership one. The most current average is used and Scott’s Premiership average is from 2024.

Jeppesen on the other hand, has a current 2025 average in both Premiership and Championship, so I’m guessing they’d use his current Premiership average? Which would mean he just about fits.

If it’s his converted Championship average then he’s way over and wouldn’t fit either.

Are any of fhe riders mentioned left handed?

I think there may be a sub reg which allows a further reduction in averages of left handed riders...

Just as long as they can a) prove they are left handed and b) prove it by the end of February..

All that needs to happen is for a BSP Official to hand the rider a pen and see how he writes with it...

Mickey Mouse has just looked at his BSP watch that he got for Christmas off Minnie, and confirmed officially that today is the 26th of February, so still time left...

They stopped this test 2 years ago, now they hold out a fifty pound note and which hand snatches it first is the predominant hand.

Must be the 4(or 5 or 6) Premiership promoters as he's only CEO of the Premiership!!
