I agree with your first point, I don't see the rush for him to be a top 6 Prem rider in his first season as a 16 year old. Not sure if have recommended him as the RS either, felt there was no harm, starting in the Champ only & if he's scoring well, then look to step up.

But I wouldn't say he's been "thrown to the Wolves" he could simply have said no thank you to the offer of a top 6 team place.

I thought Cooper rode well tonight, unlucky nor to score more. He might be only 16 but he is a trier, needs to work on his gating but he will be OK.

I’m sure someone will point to the fact that this isn’t against the rules, but it should be. There’s always an element of home advantage regardless of track conditions, but it’s a fact track conditions can vary from meeting to meeting. A home team shouldn’t be allowed to spend a whole afternoon fine tuning the perfect set ups on the actual day of a meeting. It may not exactly be “cheating”, but it’s definitely off.

Well it seems the whole afternoon just wasn't long enough to do the trick  :D

I'm not saying it's definitely wrong for Cooper to step up so soon, or that it definitely won't work out, just that it could prove disadvantageous if it hurts his confidence in such a tough position. He could have a long career in front of him, so thought "why take the risk"?

Obviously didn't do Robert Lambert any harm, but most riders take smaller steps.

You make fair points... I'm split on whether it's a bit quick or not... was impressed by his effort even when his own riders didn't help him by getting in his way or not looking for him in the first 2 bends.

I do feel like Lynn were thought of as a strong team by the majority & Ipswich as potentially wooden spoonists, hasn't taken people long to change their mind lol!

I always thought Lynn had too long a tail & suggested Gusts instead of 2 x rising stars (pretty much got laughed at for that).

Don’t worry they’ll be saying it again after we’ve been battered at Belle Vue next Monday 😁

Suppose this result goes some way to prove that getting dialled in on the day of the match means nothing for the home team. The problem with that is that there’s an away team in the equation. And the fact that they are probably better has an effect on the score of the meeting in the end. Donald God Trump knows how to win away from home .. allegedly

I’ll just repost this from page one of this thread. They started with Fricke and then got it all wrong. Only two trophies available and they’re already out of one of them. They’re going to have to change one of the middle men and either Rushen, or move Rushen to rising star and remove Scott and find a couple of 4-5 pointers. Do nothing and they won’t even make the play offs.

Lynn still very much in contention for the wooden spoon

They must have been gutted when Ipswich got bought as they were eyeing fourth without them at that time...

But then happy when Northampton got confirmed as they maybe now won't  be bottom....

Must be a rollercoaster of emotions....:D

Baring injuries Northampton should be shoe in for the spoon.

What this result show is that Leicester were correct in not signing Fricke. His average is to high for the six man limit below 40 points. As a result they have to run an inexperienced No6 who is going to find it tough at this level. Cooper is a great talent as shown by his paid max at Poole so I hope that riding at 6 does not hurt his confidence. I suspect its going to be another long old season for Lynn fans.

There's absolutely zero reason for any Stars fans to panic. I'd argue that the points scored is quite encouraging. Had Kvech scored 8-9 (expected) at No5 the result could easily have been reversed.

Regardless of how they got the points, 4 from Castagna & 3 from Rushen is fine.

Move the top 5 riding order to:-

1, Fricke 2, Castagna 3, Kvech 4, Harris, 5, Cook,

it will be far more solid

Not necessarily. Fricke himself isn’t the problem although it does inevitably make things difficult to build the rest of the team on a reduced team total. It looks like their issue was also signing a near 7 pointer and two 6 and a half pointers just below him. That doesn’t look wise at the moment.

If my Aunt had a pair of b0llocks and all that. IF Musielak repeated his 17 pointer haul on one of his visits last year (capable) Lynn would have been obliterated. IF Bangs had more time to settle in to racing in this Country it wouldn’t have even gone to the last heat etc etc.

The fact is Lynn never looked like winning either meeting and had to use a tactical on their own track against a team many has tipped for the Wooden Spoon!

They’ll improve and get better results as the season goes on sure, but they’re not even close to competing for that elusive title you’ve never won.

A thoroughly deserved win for Ipswich, once again they were far sharper from the gate. Brennan was excellent and as a Team GB fan its great to see m, I think he can develop into a very good rider.

Lynn just need to start better. Apart from Kvech who was on a lawnmower everyone had plenty of speed, Scott and Rushen had loads of pace but were yards behind into the first turn. They will get better and score plenty of points particularly at home. They were always going to take time to settle.

Thought Paco had a decent home debut. The Witches were pretty ordinary below Brennan & King but always had the Stars at arm's length. Lynn need to be much better when the fixture is repeated next month.

He has had a great first two meetings - hope it continues for him.

The trouble with you doing this (and we’re all guilty of it at times) is you’re looking at it through your Lynn spectacles. You’ve looked down the scorecard and picked out one score from a rider that you think should have improved on his tally, and yet ignored that Ben Cook scored paid 15.

Yes, it’s a poor performance this time around from Kvech who is usually better than that, but you won’t get paid 15 from Cook every week either so if you took four points off him and added it to Kvech’s score then nobody would bat an eyelid and it’d look about right.

With my Ipswich spectacles on, I look at a combined 11 from Lawson and Musielak and I’m disappointed with that and would hope that would be improved upon next time, and the same for a 3 point return from Bangs. I’d expect improvement there also next time around.

What ifs is an impossible game to play and we can only deal with what IS. As has been said before, you could ride 10 meetings on the same track with exactly the same riders and not get the same scoreline twice.

Sorry Bagpuss but this post doesn't really make sense.

Happy with the speed of the KL riders apart from Kvech whilst also saying that Ipswich were ordinary apart from 2. They were either fast enough to score points or they weren't.

Needing a 5-1 from a tac sub at home to keep it close would suggest something very different to what you've posted.

Granted I wasn't there watching so only a keyboard opinion from looking at the scoresheet.

At no point did I say Fricke was the problem. The problem is his high average and to accommodate it the compromises that have to be made elsewhere to get below the points limit.

Agreed, imagine if you'd have said 30 years ago that at 48 this young whippersnapper will still be gunning down the Stars in the next century you'd have been carted away by men in white coats!

Scott can do what PK did in his final season at Wolves knock in 6-8 on a regular basics and maybe the odd big score at home !
