PIRATES charger Richard Lawson felt he was “wrongly disqualified” after being excluded following a frightening crash involving Plymouth’s Michael Palm Toft on Wednesday. An ambulance was called on track during the 45-45 draw between the sides at Wimborne Road after Dane Palm Toft’s bike had reared up on bend four during heat seven, while he and Lawson were battling for the lead. Lawson had already passed Kyle Howarth during the heat and attempted to dive under Palm Toft, before the Dane took out two panels of air fence while being flung up into the air. Thankfully, Palm Toft was able to walk away from the nasty spill. He was withdrawn from the meeting with a suspected shoulder injury. Giving his take on the incident, Lawson told Pirates’ website: “I haven't actually seen the replay of the incident but after turn three he (Palm Toft) took a glance and I felt like he had seen me and knew where I was going. “And I wasn't going to take him straight to the fence but he ran a bit out wide and mistimed the dirt and he got out of control. “I feel like there was no contact. I can't be certain of that but, if there was, it was while he was out of control. “So, for me I believe I was wrongly disqualified and I just wish the referee would have taken a look at the replay before he made his decision.” Speaking on the centre green post-meeting, Whitehaven-born Lawson added: “Obviously I am not trying to take people out and I don’t want to see anybody injured but he (Palm Toft) is not very happy. His wife’s not very happy. “But that’s speedway.” (Taken from today's Bournemouth Echo)

Godfrey in charge and just so happens to be godfreys team. Godfrey only has his sides interests at heart not the sports.

There was me thinking only a few weeks ago you loved it. What with kids don't want to see draws, speedway is modernising I knew one would totally change their mind when the boot was on the other foot. And it had to be you of course,it always is

The only way is to not have it at all, total waste of time. Nothing wrong with 1 point for home team and 2 for the away team for a draw. I would've been happy to get a point from last night as I didn't think we were going to get that after heat 13. Some Peterborough fans don't like it, but it went in their favour at home to Sheffield and they had to use a TS to help them. Regarding the Starke-Doyle incident, I sit in front of the refs box by the start and had a clear view of the incident, so don't know how she got it wrong. Also I think they should get rid of the plants on the centre green, they do block parts of the view of the corner, but not in this incident.

Are you still talking about the burgers?

Wonder if Kasper’s absence is significant. Switching him for Starke would be a good move in my opinion.

The rumours about Anders Rowe were rife long before the 8th of June, the Lions had ample opportunity to "promote from within", if Connor Coles is a club asset, not sure if he is. There was no Cubs team before the Thompson Twins and you have to wonder whether there'll be one after the Thompson Twins. The Cubs team is either a feeder for the senior team or a Development league for the benefit of the sport, as it's badged as Lions Cubs and are often run as part of a double header with the senior team that suggests it's a feeder club, you can't have it both ways. Don't get me wrong I am 100% for the development of "young" riders (does Connor Coles fit the bill?), personally I think it should be mandatory for all clubs to run a junior team as a 6 or 7 race 2nd half event, giving many riders a chance to ride many different tracks around the country. I always used to quite enjoy watching the youngsters after the main meeting at Coventry with Andy Hackett, David Clarke, Darren Slater, Mick (Mike?) Bacon & Wayne Broadhurst all progressing to the main team reserve berth during their careers.

Not knocking the rider but the Chris Harris guesting situation is probably a prime example among many prime examples as to why speedway isn't taking very seriously anymore.

Nightmare day for track prep today. Warm and sunny most of the day with inconsistent forecasts of volumes of rain from 5 onwards. Best of luck track staff!!!

Under this current chairman joke is as good a word as any.

I hope nobody is missing the irony of the fact that Berwick are being refused to have a guest for Chris Harris when Chris Harris has guested for virtually every team up and down the Country.

From that clip Starke has to be excluded

Connor Coles may have been announced on 8th June but he had already agreed to sign for Scunthorpe on 2nd June. He guested vs Redcar because they couldn’t redeclare in time & he was then announced as a signing. The idea of NDL is to develop BRITISH young riders regardless of where the come from or wether they are connected to other clubs or not growing up. Leicester run NDL because they are one of the few that are able to , nobody from the club has ever said its a direct feeder for the Lions. Merely with the chance to develop one of them may become a Lion of the future. Say we put Tom Spencer in on Saturday . He fails to score & we lost 44-46 . Fans would be going mad asking why we didn’t get the best possible guest (Jason Edwards) to give us the best possible chance of winning.

Think they want to concentrate on the latter stages of the season and the play-offs which i suppose is sensible when they have agreed only to cover a certain number of matches.
