Great result, glad I paid for the stream at the last moment now🙂.They all chipped in and done their bit although there is still room for improvement from a couple imo. Special mention for Jody Scott, beat his opposing rising star, that is more than we can ask for. It's nice to see him still trying when he is at the back.5 points

Poole more than any other team see a big drop off in crowd levels when not winning, (given they start with more than most)... Hence, when competing to win in Div 1 became unrealistically expensive, and impacted profits, they decided to compete to win in Div 2... With many of the same riders to watch.. Meaning they have stayed successful and their crowds respond regularly in good numbers, paying less than Div 1 prices to watch around 60% to 70% of those there, Div 1 riders.. Div 1/Div 2, winning either wont generate any massive financial prize, or widespread publicity, so why not be a "big fish in a small pond"... (Or should that read being a "big fish in a smaller pond than the other slightly bigger one"?).. Yes, they don't get to see GP riders but, as we have seen this season already, and seasons before, neither do some Div 1 crowds when personal career aspirations make them unavailable, (or simply Poland just tell them they cannot ride over here).. And, as we also see, the GP riders dont exactly pack in thousands when they visit do they? A very sharp business plan which isn't surprising as those who run Poole have been ahead of the curve for a long time..5 points

I've watched the BSN coverage of this meeting and must say it was very worthwhile as you get a different perspective and learn things that you don't see or hear from watching at the stadium. A few examples: Leon Flint and his bike were caked in wet shale after his first two rides. There was what appeared to be the equivalent of at least two bucketloads in a heap next to his bike in the pits. Ironically, this thread was started by shaleshifter! Leon Flint used the same set-up as his last meeting at Ashfield when he scored a 15 point maximum. Despite this, his bike felt flat and things weren't helped by the amount of shale caking him and his bike. He changed bike for his 3rd and 4th ride and it felt more comfortable to ride. Leon Flint was clearly gutted. Other Glasgow riders also had issues. This isn't a criticism of the track staff but if you remember there were some heavy showers that week. i've also been catching up with the Speedway Star who continue to provide accurate Calculated Match Averages (CMA) which include Championship, BSN Series and Knock-out Cup matches. As at 6 June 2025 Leon Flint's average was 8.00 with a Home average of 10.67 and Away average of 6.80. Dan Thompson's CMA was 10.00; Chris Harris 9.21 and Kyle Howarth 8.97. Just thought this would be of interest compared to some of the other posts that have appeared.4 points

Spot on - for the top league it is this calibre of rider that should be the rising star if any at all The 2nd tier is the best place for this type of scheme overall imo4 points

The last 20 years mate... A slow erosion that has sped cup.. Six teams, seven teams, makes not much, if any, difference... They will fiind a way to devalue their own competition regardless...3 points

In my opinion the whole scheme should be scrapped, and gb riders have a larger average percentage to incentivise signing british riders. Even if riders under 24 had 20% average reduction and riders over 24 had 10% or something to that effect.3 points

That was a cracking meeting, with plenty of passing. Two good teams who both deserve credit for a hard fought and competitive meeting.2 points

Howarth was the man with his points won Lynn the match. Down to a guest.2 points

Can't really see how 6 teams would generate much excitement among what looks like a diminishing fan base. The sport for me continues to stagnate regardless of certain people trying to dress it up. The crowd at the televised Leicester v Sheffield meeting on monday looked pretty low with most people of a certain age demographic. Something has to change or I fear the worst. Seems like I have said this over the last 3 seasons as have many others but is anyone listening.2 points

That's fine, but i think it would pee me off if i thought he wouldn't give something back to the fans if necessary though.. Good job most don't seem to think the same. Someone on here did say Matt is like Marmite. I certainly agree with that Nice to see Lewi seems to be on the up btw.2 points

I think that's a bit poor. I know Jason's been knocked about and hoping to ride BUT it's a GP and surely ALL riders should have to confirm they are going to ride by a certain date. In this case the meeting reserve, LM, doesn't know where he stands with less then 48 hours to timed sessions. Smacks lack of professionalism to me. Yes I know there are 2 meeting day reserves, but the series reserves should be first pick.2 points

Last night Redcar and Glasgow on Friday had 5 and 4 Premiership riders respectively. Berwick next week have 5 riders in Premiership teams. Poole themselves have 4. Championship racing is far more competitive and has much more fixture variety. Goodness knows what the League structure will be in 2026 with no Brummies and various other rumours about current 'premiership' teams?!2 points

The rising star scheme in general is a total mess. Jordan Jenkins isn't a rising star and there have been many similar examples. So people people getting worked up about a couple of inexperienced young lads getting a go, who probably won't score and saying it's manipulation is all a bit weird.2 points

It's amazing, a couple of weeks ago, it seems a majority of fans were calling for changes, saying the team wasn't good enough, Cairns alone won't turn them into challengers. Then all of a sudden 2 good results & they're the team to beat! Speedway fans can be a fickle bunch lol!2 points

Perhaps they have realised Harrison ISNT eligible to guest after all....... On the redeclaration us outgoing average is 3.16 and Boughen shows as 3 The rotating declaration is just another manipulation of the regs to effectively allow Harrison to guest2 points

I would agree LM seems to have got his act together I hope he is back in full time next year ,think Doyle needs to be 100% fit( takes longer at his age ) to do himself justice in the series .If he misses the cut this year I don't think he will get a W/Card next year which may mean his GP days would be over .2 points

It’s BS comment, Chris Louis said that Doyle was hoping to ride so where he mustered that random bit of info is beyond me.2 points

I subscribed just for the Championship package before season work out roughly £5 /per meeting good value and really well presented, you think your at the meeting IMO.2 points

I think the probable reason would be he would have had to change the rear tyre.2 points

Great to see Dan get a wildcard as I didn't think he'd get one, he definitely deserves to be in the field as he's been riding fantastically. Do feel for those who didn't win the ballot in Glasgow as none of them got in the field, especially when Bednar got in after finishing tied 6th in his qualifier.2 points

Win or lose Oxford are complete rammel. Every rider in the side is riding out of position due too atrocious team building1 point

I wasn't there but I've long held the view that bad speedway is worse than no speedway and this doesn't change my mind. BTW, Newtongrange didn't run in 1972 only 1970 & 1973.1 point

Following on from that I started going speedway in 1981 to rye house and loved it … we started going Hackney in 1988 and then followed Mark Loram and went Ipswich in 1989 … all lower league speedway In 1990 Mark moved to Kings Lynn and we went to his first home meeting v Reading and seeing superstars to me like Knight Jonsson Doncaster was so good … I was 14 at the time … by the way Mark got 20 from 7 rides I believe beaten only by readings young reserve Todd Wiltshire lol …. In May that year I went to my first British final …. Wigg Tatum Cross Doncaster Havelock… seeing these top riders was awesome at that age ….and as much as I liked lower league speedway you will never beat seeing the top boys at your track or elsewhere1 point

There's never too much success!!! Being in my mid-70s now, it takes some special racing to get me up and out of my grandstand seat and cheering. I did that twice last night!! I think I actually worried my granddaughter!!!🤣1 point

Poole ride their luck again, with another side turning up with a guest and a missing reserve. Easy win tonight for Pool - the home fans wll be happy, they dont like close meetings .1 point

From what I’ve seen of Hagon this season he likes a bit of dirt around the outside, he enters the corner fast, drifts across till he hits the dirt and relies on that outside line to pull him out of the corner, pretty much everything Perry Barr doesn’t have, he isn’t the worst rider we could of had but in a struggling team I can’t see enough points from him to make our task any easier, anyway good luck Sam hope you prove me wrong1 point

Rob said on Monday that they will be rotating between Luke and Jody. They just have to redeclare their lineup each time1 point

Offered much better money to ride in a better league in Poland which everyone would take (and if you say you wouldn't you're lying)...felt that track prep in the UK was poor and dangerous (which at some tracks it was) so no longer wanted to ride here...but it was his responsibility to stay and try and save British speedway?! Utterly ridiculous. The Tai bashing by some is so tiresome. Any excuse. It's just boring now. The guy is the most successful rider this country has produced, he has only ever wanted to see British speedway flourish, and our current status as reigning SON champions is down to him wanting things changed from the top down with Team GB. He instigated that. He championed it. Where we are now is due to him. So I'd say personally he has done the complete opposite of not helping British speedway. He has gone on record as saying he would love to further help the sport in this country, the guy is an asset that, if used by the BSPL, would help revolutionise British speedway. But the suits would rather plod along as we are, staring at the abyss...1 point

When have the rules in speedway mattered? Everyone knows they are written on toilet paper and flushed when they need re-writing .😉1 point
