  1. You do realise the GP circus has been haemorrhaging money at a rate of knots in recent years Phil? I find it staggering that the likes of you AND others on here, are critical of Mayfield for tightening the budget and making cuts. That’s exactly what’s been needed for years now. It simply couldn’t go on the way it was and we’re fortunate to even have a GP series to watch at the moment reading the articles in the Star the last few months. Richard Coleman knows exactly what he’s doing, its a pity he wasn’t in place a long time ago. As for Ipswich, I also find it staggering he’s already getting criticised there too. People do realise he didn’t actually take over until the arse end of February? Three and a half months ago. What are people expecting? Belle Vue signed Doyle because they have a vacancy, Ipswich don’t. I’m not sure sacking a couple of riders already to fit him back in would be the reputation they’re looking for, especially when they already have a cup final booked! Give them a chance ffs 🙄

  2. That meeting was British speedway alive and kicking. this site is very negative and Plymouth being its own micro climate and living in its own bubble is working. This meeting was superb, great racing, drama, last heat deciders. The fans from Redcar travel superbly and handshakes with gladiator fans at the end as well. incredible attendance I wouldn’t be surprised if that could be a new record for the colosseum. as I say I’m sure this site will be negative about something and ultimately it’ll help towards the demise of British speedway but Plymouth are bucking the trend and really getting good crowds and promoting speedway properly ! Plymouth is on the up and nothing less than mark deserves from all he has put in.

  4. In fairness Luke was pretty dross last night . We made a bad decision on set up after the rain prior to the meeting and from then on it was a chore all night. Personally I was surprised he didn't get pulled from his last ride with the meeting being close but he pulled it off, but in all honesty don't think even with that ride he did enough to warrant heat 14 .

  5. Can we just take a minute to actually realise it will be around the end of June before any witches fan sees a different team at Foxhall when you realise only Northampton and Kings Lynn have raced here this season. And shock, the next meeting is Kings Lynn. It’s really not that exciting for any Ipswich fans to keep watching the same riders race round.

  9. I think as soon as next year unlikely but I’d love to see a Grand Prix on a tight technical track like Foxhall! Doyley would show a few throttle jockeys a thing or two for sure!!

  12. Yep, Batchelor, despite getting a lot of hate, has never missed a meeting for us and he travels a long way. He may have his off nights but he's saved us a lot more than he's let us down. True captain. UTC!

  13. The sooner Redcar get rid of Klindt the better. I would take a half fit Wright over Klindt, at least some effort would be put in!

  14. Be careful who you mention attending a NORA meeting to or you'll be barred from attending Ipswich by the BSPL! 😂

  15. Vinnie is good entertainment, showed true grit and I wish him all the very best. But imo didn't offer good value at the time Poole let him go, even though many fans thought otherwise.

  16. Also Vinnie now in the team at the difficult No 2 position

  17. Well done to the Gladiators and that heat 15 result. Onwards and upwards with two of UK speedways ultimate professionals. Take a bow Scott and Danny. From the updates it seemingly was a great meeting on the best night of the week to run. Well done to all involved.

  19. I was disappointed when it was announced we had Kerr in the team. He was next to dreadful last season. Just generally poor with added bike issues on top. And so many duff rides where a reserve would get in front of him and he couldn’t get past. However I will eat humble pie as he has been much much better so far this season and done a good job. I hope he keeps it up.

  20. He put in a shift for you tonight’s the same can’t be said for others. You blew a massive chance of a win as Berwicks heat leaders didn’t score a point between them until heat 6 .

  21. No doubt Oxford will be also blaming the distance to the track from the pits for McDiaarmids exc

  22. Wouldn't mind hearing the general comments of anyone who may have bought the stream as to what they thought about this meeting. The Cheetahs fought back from a 10 point deficit after heat 5 to being just 2 behind after heat 13. The 4-2 from Tate and Max in heat 14 guaranteed the minimum the Comets would get was a draw and the 2 points were secured in a last heat decider in which McDiarmid somehow failed to make the 2 minute time allowance and was replaced by reserve Darryl Ritchings. This may well have been more crucial if Sam Masters hadn't shed a chain whilst leading heat 1 turning a 2-4 into a Comets 4-2. For the Comets it looked like it was going to be good day for Niklas with a dominant win in heat 2 but after running a solid third in heat 5 he seemed to lose his way a little. Vinnie riding in the difficult No2 position will probably also be a bit frustrated after relinquishing good on track positions sticking to the inside line. Good performances from the top 3 who scored 37 of the 48 between them went a long way to seeing the Comets home and the wins from Tate in 12 and 14 were crucial. Young Max displayed his battling qualities and improving race craft and can count himself very hard done by to be excluded by the referee in heat 12. For the Cheetahs Sam Masters was his usual classy self with most of the others chipping in at times throughout the meeting. Edward Kennett caught the eye considering his time away from the track and should do a solid job for the Cheetahs. UTC !

  23. I know I can be a bit thick at times... but I can't see what is "complex" about holding a Grand Prix at Belle Vue and then holding another Grand Prix at Belle Vue the very next night with the same riders, staff and officials (and fans) 🤔🤑

  24. Anders Rowe, Kacper Woryna would be proud of what you done to Perry in heat 12, dirty ****

  25. I think that’s a fair comment, he’s 26 been riding for quite a few seasons and doesn’t look like he could ever be more than a very average second division reserve, if only the sport had a bigger crop of teenagers vying for places, it would benefit everyone, it can’t be fun travelling hundreds of miles knowing it’s likely your going to be switched around and score nothing.

  31. I agree on the Jacob Hook front personally I was disappointed when he wasnt signed for this year. Claus Vissing never really seemed to like Northside and never gelled in the team.

  32. Pretty enjoyable meeting I thought. Not Klindts biggest fan but excellent tonight. Scott won the meeting though, excellent night and most of it from the back. Lambert unlucky with his puncture, but probably Edwards worst meeting as a Bear. King and Nicholls excellent for the visitors as expected with solid support from Barker. Probably not enough for us to progress but happy with the home win.

  33. A good nights racing and reminds me a bit of Friday nights at Hackney. Great entertainment and thank goodness that speedway is still being served up at this level. Well done to the riders and the presentation etc is first class. Onwards to the next meeting from Poland.

  38. It was simply the delay in confirming what the league would kook like, and if Ipswich were going to be sold... Chris Louis wouldn't countenance a five team league and Northampton was still in the "pending file"... So Jason Doyle decided he needed to make some firm decisions for his season, and couldn't wait for something that "may happen"..

  39. I'm not privey to any inside info but I thought Ipswich were profitable last year and backed by a wealthy sponsor ,given no Emil to fund this year I would have thought if they wanted Doyle back in theory if crowd numbers have held up and main sponsors are still there they could have afforded him without breaking the bank ? what am I missing ?

  40. The loss of Kevin Long on the mic has been massive from my perspective. Can’t be understated what a difference he made to the meeting experience. Huge miss.

  41. I've been to the meeting s at Foxhall this season and haven't noticed any decline from last season. In fact, the new TV screen has added to the experience and once they get interviews onto that for the crowd to hear it will be even better. Some people just love to moan.

  42. Retire would be the best option for him and the Team.

  43. Has he been suspended though? I haven't heard anything. We don't know what has caused this sudden decline in his mental health. Maybe he has issues at home. Either way, we don't know and won't know. We can only hope he's okay now and he does what's best for him and the team

  44. I find it hard to see the great destination people are making between the leagues. The Premiership can hardly be described as an elite league, in a very real sense it's the Championships with a sprinkling of elite riders.

  48. It's almost the perfect venue, it's the right shape for starters, it's in London, placed in a better location than Wembley, really easy to get to, with a lower capacity than Wembley & Cardiff. The reasons why not, there's only 14 operational tracks in the UK these days, when BSI took the "gamble" of taking the British GP to Cardiff in 2001 there were at least 24 operational tracks in the UK. Brandon was selling out at about 12,000 (with a lot of Poles attending) and the move to Cardiff really did spark a boom in the whole GP series with more rounds being introduced and also rounds being held in "destination" cities, there'd be no Copenhagen, Ullevi, Stockholm, Warsaw etc without Cardiff but they're all gone now. Maybe they need to go backwards in order to move forwards and reduce the number of rounds back to 6 or 7 at more prestige city destinations... oh and there's no roof 😁
