Just got back from a very entertaining meeting at Poole. First of all commiserations to Redcar who put up a decent defence of their 6 point lead. Thought Charles Wright was quite brilliant. And to the handful of Redcar fans who travelled all the way from the north east to support their team. Racing was tight and Redcar battled well until the rumpus of heat eight when Mulford started kicking out at Will Cairns. Ref really messed up by putting on the Red light. Newman thought 2 mins had been cancelled and pulled away to the bend. But the Red lights went out and the clock kept ticking. Kyle arrived 2 seconds too late and was excluded. Very unfair. In fact ludicrous. But the Purates were then fired up and took control of the meeting. People moaning there is a lack of characters in the sport. Then along comes young Will Cairns who speaks what he thinks and it’s moan moan moan. Cocksure, should be taken down a peg or two, too big for his boots, etc etc etc. Will Cairns is perfect for speedway. A young lad, who is clearly heading to the top, causing waves. More riders should be like this.

'We need more characters in speedway'... Well now you have one and everyone moaning and calling him names. So do you want one or not! Also Will's mind names plus the ref being stupid gave Poole the win. So thanks! 🤭👏 Edit- also no one moaning about the track not even Gavan, so can count this meeting as a winner all round?🙏

Congratulations to Redcar for giving us a good battle. Probably the closest meeting all season.

Cooper Rushen is delightfully refreshing to watch on track and screen. What a great example to the sport (unlike Cairns) Well done Poole on a decent track too with shale!

Aces fans make me laugh actually lapping this tin pot crap domestic season up that most fans lost interest in weeks ago. It became very clear that the Aces couldn't lose because everything fell in place for them, Clubs who've faced problems haven't bothered to address the issues they've faced while Belle Vue did when losing Bewley. Proof is in the pudding. Sheffield didn't act with Jack Holder's season ending injury, They just crossed their fingers and hoped King's Lynn wouldn't finish 4th. Leicester didn't act when facing issues with underperformers as well as the Kyle Howarth situation. Ipswich didn't act with Richard Lawson's off track attitude as well as getting Tom Brennan some help due to his on track struggles. King's Lynn have seen Max Fricke underperform this season which effectively ended any sort of challenge from them. Northampton have had a season to forget with a number of underperformers to a point where they've ended up with a 44 year old at No.1.

Try rewinding 5 times and listen again in that case.

Holder has to be the first choice for a wildcard as we was right up there till his injury. 2nd choice is between Bewley and Lindgren, who would also both probably be in the top 7 without injuries, but surely one of them has to go to whoever finishes 8th ? With 4 riders separated by 1 point chasing 3 places, it would be very harsh to not give another shot to the one that misses out. So which way do you go ? The 41 year old with a fantastic record but never been Champion and unlikely to be now, or the 27 year old potential future champion who would probably have been in the title fight this year ?

Temu Crump? Jason was a class above at the same age.

Is he one of the best 17 year olds in the country? Yes. The world? No.

He is acting like he is so loyal and playing up to Poole fans saying he doesn’t care about other clubs and Poole is his home, he done the same in Falubaz and then they dropped him… funny thing is, in Poland that 💩 don’t fly with the fans and he will not be welcome at stal Gorzów or Leszno anytime soon as Poland rivals go deeper than any kind of handbags in British speedway. To me, he acts like he has already made it and is the wonder child… he is just a temu version of Cooper who will be the real deal.

Jody Scott is a racer and attacks the track. Edwards just tries to defend the position he gates in usually unsuccessfully. I know who I would have in my team if it was a straight choice between the two.

Fair comment re Sheffield that after Jack Holder was injured the entire season hinged on one of your rivals finishing in the bottom two so you could borrow their best rider for the play-offs.

Hand bags etc who cares, its drama, its making the meeting a lot more interesting and your getting that drama because this meeting actually has something riding on it. They say its slick but clearly there is some dirt on it because of the outside run.

Fully agreed, Cairns really did himself no favours with that interview.

Can see someone sorting that big head Cairns out soon. He regularly rides across other riders starting areas wheel spinning messing up their runts before tapes up. Noticed he's done it on BSN in most meetings he's been in this season.

Don’t mind it at all. Yes, it’s a dick move, but it’s mind games and you could argue it worked. Love the kick from Mullford in response too. Also a dick move, but again, I don’t mind it. Especially as the red lights were on, Kyle headed off and then the reds were cancelled and he couldn’t get back in time. Ridiculous.

I think you're being a bit unkind; if it wasn't for those two, you wouldn't have had a sniff of being in the playoffs. Your finger should be pointing at the three riders with averages under 4. The 2 x British U21 champion was hailed as a huge winter signing for the Tigers. Has been none existent at No2. Hausel was signed off the back of two good meetings, as for Hodder, he is now in his third full season in the championship, imo should be scoring a lot better than he is. All three owe the Tigers a big meeting. Scunthorpe are not the strongest away from home, and are definitely there for the taking.

Get him in! Wanna be entertained or not? This fella provides it in bucketfulls. No matter which British club signs him, id travel to go and watch him. I think this “danger” tag gets overplayed anyhow. All i see is a gutsy ballsy rider who isnt afraid to go for gaps. Ive seen Fricke be much harder than Woryna in the Grand Prix’s this year!

Grmek is certainly one I would have on my radar for next season.

What points limit are you working to? The five you mentioned probably come to over 36. We really need a line up with two heat leaders and two strong reserves, rather than our obsession with top heavy teams

Not at the moment, but they’re trying hard to get him in. They like him a lot.

After Laguta’s attitude last time he was on these shores I’m surprised why anyone would want him anywhere near Foxhall. Bewley is a possibility but look elsewhere for the 2nd heat leader.

Why not plymouth and Berwick do has very little if any impact on crowd numbers imo. Supporters will always prefer live speedway

There is a lot of pressure riding for Poole, i do not see anything wrong with what Will did or said. He rode well tonight and got the better of Mulford in heat 8

First off great result, deserved too. Cairns is one of the best 17 yet olds for sure, Mulford tried to exert pressure, but Will pissed off into the distance. Wind people up and who knows what the outcome will be. What did people think of the first start of heat 1? Cos to me it looked like Wright thought sh.t chronic start best lay the bike down and avoid wiping out 2/3 of our advantage?

You could also say would Will get so much criticism if he wasn't riding for Poole? Prob not if people are being honest. That doesnt apply to you @ShanoXtra btw! It definitely applies to @Bellers101 though as if Will was at Redcar it would be completely fine lol.

Don’t think we need the name calling. Cairns is fantastic, been out of reserve almost the whole season and his ave just keeps going up and up. Yes he’s confident and why shouldn’t he, is he arrogant? Probably, but he’s one of the best 17yr olds in the world. Would be my first name on the team sheet for next season.

I’ve never said we need more characters for clarity. Give me a top rider like Emil who has a nice personality and very polite over “characters” any day. Congrats to Poole, maybe step up to a league and cup worth winning next season.

Lambert might as well retire, Edwards was shocking too. Will Cairns could be another Kenny Carter (but of course not the same tragic end) if Will becomes as good as Carter it will be great for this Country. I had low expectations ahead of this meeting, but I found it an enjoyable watch.

heres another clued up speedway fan..

It was a 6 team league reduced from 7, two of those 6 (Northampton and Ipswich) weren’t tipped by anyone for obvious reasons. Nobody other than the odd die hard biased Leicester fan were tipping them because of the loss of their GP number 1. Lynn got a little backing at the beginning due to the excitement of signing said number 1, but that soon died down when the other teams were announced and it dawned on people that it’s, well, Kings Lynn. Nobody from memory were predicting Belle Vue to “walk it” , but they had more votes than Sheffield who were tipped to run them close so let’s call a spade a spade here. I know it’s a trait of you Belle Vue fans to big up any success as an against all odds fairytale and chase the adulation that you seem to crave, but winning a realistically two team shoot out in a crap 6 team league is really nothing to crow about this year.

Ian Brannan constantly states that Edwards average goes up each year. Not true. His final Green Sheet average for 2025 was 6.60. His current Green Sheet average is 6.43. Like what Bellers stated in his post. He is a rider not a racer.

I seem to remember someone saying if we were still using upright's he would be world championship material which sounds a huge stretch.

Don’t need GP tuned engines to ride in Championship You need to get the right set up.All this rich parents doesn’t count for much if the rider doesn’t have talent.Im quite sure that most riders have the machinery that is good enough.

Probably, makes no difference to the crowd. Most people will probably watch the GP's on demand anyways these days. The only time over the last 27 years we've avoided running alongside the GP's was when we had a rider in it. Running up against Workington Reds/Town at 3pm on Saturday/Sunday, is a far bigger issue in the Town IMO.

And today we lost another.....Number 19 Martin Ashby. Great rider for Swindon, saw him many times.
