He broke his leg when he hit a drain lid in the second half of a league meeting at Hyde Road. It was a week before the world final. Even if he did have a league meeting that week. I'm sure no one would have blamed him for missing the meeting with a broken leg!. What I was trying to say, Riders were very much more of club men back then. They didn't ride in Sweden on a Tuesday and Poland on a Sunday. Yes they rode long track meetings in Germany and such, but they were individual meetings, so for the likes of PC and Mort, the Aces was their club. Yes the Aces are Bewley's and Kurtz's club, but they also have a Polish club and a Swedish club and as such their loyalties are split. No doubt the highest payers will always come first and thats not Belle Vue!
Popular Post ShanoXtra
Unlucky Aces, started decent and thought we were in for a long night but we turned it round after heat 8 and kept the foot down to get the job done. Tough conditions for both riders early on and not as big crowd as I expect but weather might had played a part. I want to mention this though… my Polish mother in law came over and she has a close friend who was diagnosed with cancer recently, and she has an operation next month. Her favourite rider is Bewley so today after the meeting we waitied to see if he would give us a minute of his time. He was very polite and listened to the story of her friend, he put his bags down and wrote a message out directed to her, wishing her all the best and signing it. For me, it’s something he didn’t have to do especially after that meeting and not the best performance but he was still willing to be a kind human to help another out and make her day. I wished him all the best for the weekend and off he went, sometimes you can get caught up in the racing but these guys are just humans like us and whether Ipswich won or lost tonight I would remember that gesture of kindness over speedway. Good luck Saturday Dan B. Edited 13 hours ago by ShanoXtra .

stevebrum
Disgraceful (lack of) performance from the Aces GP stars. I’d be embarrassed that they let your team down but instead saved their best efforts for the weekend. The Witches fully deserve their place in the final and hope that Emil can get his woes sorted for the final. They will face much tougher opposition in the final than the Aces tho. szkocjasid
3 hours ago, SUPERACE said: Spot on. All tracks should be forced to get them, the weather ruins the play offs for the neutral most seasons. Who would pay for the track covers, where would they store them, will clubs have enough volunteers to cover / uncover a track? It's a nice idea, but certainly not one where you can demand every track have covers.

He has had issues with engine tuners all year. Started the season without one & hasn’t really got going. If the league structure stays the same & he wants to come back next year I think he’ll be on a quote bargain average. I’d love to see him back but I’m not sure he’ll be up for it. I hate him No he won’t stop being silly. Can you blame him? Cause I certainly can’t, track was the same for everyone and 3&4 was a bit patchy early on. Everyone knew belle vue would be spluttering out of the play offs because there team is weak if you take away the top 2. It’s been refreshing seeing someone take it to Bartosz this year, and, I hope Kurtz wins because he’ll land me a nice chunk of money 😁

mikebv
Just seen the scores from last night, (as I was a "Dad Taxi" I only watched from Heat Four to Seven and then went to bed after watching four heats of riders riding around equidistant apart for four laps), and noticed Dan only got 4.... The same as Brady.... Yet, seemingly, he "tried" according to some on here, so escaped criticism from the Witches fans, (baffled why they would be bothered about the Aces riders but there you go)... A good job he did try though as if he didnt, his score would have been even less.... Only saw him in one race and he gated and won, but noticed he ran two lasts, which on that track would be no surprise if you didn't gate.. Amazing how this sport fails to "showcase" itself when on TV, most sports ensure the "playing field" provides the maximum opportunity for those competing to show off their elite skills to a watching nation.. UK Speedway, instead, actually allows riders like Emil and Dan to NOT demonstrate their elite skill set to those watching at home... Maybe if no GP/Elite riders next year then the money saved could go into track covers? As, getting the track raceable to provide entertainment, (especially on those "dodgy days") must be the No1 priority surely for promoters if this sport is ever to become more popular... I have watched 19 heats in the last few days and the vast majority have had riders almost a full straight apart, from front to back, with all riders a similar distance apart.. Not a great advert for "top level" UK Speedway is it? But it starts and ends with what "playing surface" is provided..
Bagpuss
Quite a bit of quite frankly ridiculous criticism of Kurtz & Bewley, the track was treacherous and if you didn't gate it was game over. Don't blame any rider for not taking risks let alone those two. Well done Ipswich, boooo to the weather.
