  1. there's some strange posts on this subject, it beggars belief that something so positive receives so many negative posts. Will Saturday nights showing change the face of speedway, of course not....having it on a "normal tv" is real positive as opposed to just a speedway club stream(no offence to club streams!). There are far more positives than negatives to come out of this. Bravo to all concerned in making this happen.

  2. You'll be claiming he only found the will to become World Champion because deep down he knew one day it would secure him an Aces race jacket Without that motivation he would never have made it šŸ˜‹

  3. One of the issues with British speedway, tracks prep/maintenance should be with spectators in mind and not riders!

  4. That isn’t a bad thing either IMO. Ties in with Richard Coleman’s comments that he wants a bigger gap between the Premiership and Championship, and this rule would naturally help that along.

  5. If Northampton race next season (no reason why they won't), I think they should be allocated the British Final. Becoming pretty stale at BV and a new venue, next year at least, is required. Promote it big time with a Wednesday or Saturday meeting and I think it could be a big success.

  6. Absolute piss-take. The claimed to have signed elderly 37-year-old Simon Lambert to help coach the younger riders. Will he also be coaching the more elderly 39-year-old Edward Kennett? How are the BSPL allowing this to happen? They raised the points limit, and allowed in old has-beens who are far too good for NDL, so that some glory-hunters can go on an ego trip, and in doing so they make NDL unviable for the likes of Belle Vue, Sheffield/Scunthorpe and Plymouth who actually wanted to develop youngsters. Utter madness.

  7. I think Oxford's team was based upon Riss being fit, well and in double figures more often than not. His absence has been huge. I think Rowe has been underwhelming too when you consider his scores in other leagues.

  8. Thought the track last night was extremely smooth. It was slick as expected. Watering regularly with a new bowser, which didn’t imo put down enough water even though the driver was going slow. Needs to come out at a faster rate. By the time the tractor had done a lap it was evaporating. Bigger jets required! Racing wise it was OK. A few good heats. Brennan a good guest. Morris and Jenkins both excellent guests. Lightcap a very decent first meeting with no last places and battled well. Nearly got the better of Brennan but stayed low allowing Tom to blast around him.

  9. My point being is, the British Final could be the best ever and the perfect product to showcase the sport in this country BUT our domestic scene is not a good advert for the sport as it stands, and i am not just talking about tracks, i am talking about farcical league setups, endless guest riders. Above all my point is, promoters, get your act together! you could about to be potentially handed a bit of a lifeline, dont squander it.

  11. I don't see why a experienced rider of Lambert's or Kennett's age and experience should ride in a National Development League. Surely it is meant to be for young up and coming riders hence the name Kings Lynn young stars!

  13. Here we go. We're all supposed to believe that Glasgow fans appreciate 'good racing' more than the rest of us and show up in their droves to appreciate it win, lose or draw. Connoisseurs who are treated to excellent speedway every week at Ashfield. Self-indulgent pish.

  14. Does it matter. The fact that it got plugged hopefully means a few more potential punters get to watch it. I am sure if he wins they will get it right. Perhaps if it was a Commonwealth and British final following a a number of qualifying rounds then it might have been even more competitive. Imagine have Chris Holder and Jason Doyle competing. Perhaps that is for the future, for now we must appreciate the opportunity this coverage offers the sport. To those in charge, a simple message, promote it as much as you can and don’t cock it up.

  15. If it was the fastest, why didn't Brennan fall behind riding the outside? Seem like lap times were pretty much identical throughout.

  17. This bowser is really down to Terry. He's been working on it for a few weeks and wanted to use it last week but there was a leak issue. So I think Terry should get full praise for this

  18. Rain offs, abandoned because of fog, delayed due to bright sunshine, snow even. But this is a first for me and possibly unique (unless Poole did the same thing). I certainly won't be around for the next possible occurrence.

  19. Well he kind of did, my point was a general one, as they often are on Poole threads as I dont want to be accused of having a go at them! It's not a new thing, track prep for riders not spectators has been an issue for years but if there is dust then what riders want shouldn't really come into it.

  20. Must admit when we signed Jason on a seven point something average I thought he’d struggle to replace Dan, especially given Dan’s form. Jason has the fire back in his belly in the new environment of the NSS, somewhere he’s longed to race at as a home rider. It was a nice comment of his when asked about Dan’s return to say he’d be cheering The Aces on from the sidelines during the play offs. He’s been immense since joining and is already a true Ace.

  21. Yup. Team planning underway. And don't forget it's NOT the end of the season, since still three home fixtures for the Chargers

  22. Very underwhelming experience in the Midlands after all the hype. Slight hint of an early dusk, but that was all. Only the birds around seemed a bit confused.

  23. i dont know why Kings Lynn have bowed down to it to be honest, also curious to see how many meetings he actually does for the young stars too.

  24. What a lovely coincidence that the article is written by Phil Lanning, the son of Dave who for many was the voice of speedway on TV and who introduced darts to the TV world and now is son, is the Suns dart correspondent the very same newspaper for whom his dad was the speedway correspondent. Great to see speedway back on terrestrial TV.

  25. As usual, thanks for your insightful input Gav!! Brennan saying the track was great, better than the 2024 treble winning season.

  26. They use guests to lose meetings(last Sat). The guest Team Manager also helped.

  27. And seriously what was the point of that change in a meeting where Poole won by 27 points, it’s not like the result was ever in doubt so all it will do is dent the confidence of a 16 year old rider who is still learning. Does anyone know how Luke Harrison is? That was a nasty looking fall, hope he’s ok

  28. Still buoyed-up from Worky actually winning away from home and a bonus point, you must be buzzing, can hardly think straight right ? it was a great heat 15 plenty of drama in the build up and Will really deserves a win in the final heat of the night, it's been too long coming. Kneeler you are just seeing this as a single heat(an opportunity for a cheap dig) whereas a Poole fan can understand it as a significant progression of a talented young rider.

  29. Were you there? Brennan was good, took a great ride from Will to hold him off. The large crowd loved it.

  30. Didn’t you know we have drought conditions in the area of Poole and down in Devon , Dorset and Cornwall. Temperatures of 33 plus. You have rain at times up there and nothing like the temperature down here

  31. Didn’t think British Speedway could get any lower but it just did. No one believes that Kennet really wants to ride in the NDL for Ā£10 a point, it’s just a move so he can guest elsewhere, we all know where , no doubt the ā€˜ Young Stars ā€˜ team manager , who loves a bit of publicity, will be ecstatic he can put Lambert and Kennet out in heats 13 & 15.

  32. Spot on... Strong viewing figures bring sponsorship to the sport... And adverts to the TV company... If the sport is ever to turn around the tanker then it has to start somewhere... Saturday being that first opportunity...

  34. Having thought about ITV4 being involved in screening the BF i think a hour long highlights show once a week would be a nice thing to see - that would show racing and meetings etc in a good light and hopefully get a few more interested in attending so that is on my wishlist for 2027!

  35. This ref clearly looked directly at the sun last night for the eclipse because he can’t see anything tonight! Ellis literally creeped all the way to the moment the tapes lifted, and he won the race šŸ¤¦šŸ¼

  37. Fantastic news and maybe every fan could like and share on each social media platforms that they use to give maximum publicity for huge viewing figures. I just hope the cameras don’t pan too closely in on the trophy as in true bspl style as it’s engraved with a spelling mistake. Instead of championship it’s championsIHp if you don’t believe me zoom into the photo on the bspl advert and check it out. goodness how long it’s been like that as we noticed it when Danny king won it and displayed it at foxhall

  40. 100%... The rehab would have cost them a fair few quid!! You can also understand why they want to restrict the amount of racing "their riders" do, given the contracts and support that they give them... An incident in Denmark directly, negatively, impacts their own business... A business with big money at stake...

  45. I totally agree with you. We have not had an opportunity like this for years. It’s a start. If ITV get some positivity with viewing figures and feedback it could well lead to more meetings in this country and Europe being screened. I have, luckily, been given a new lease of life in Speedway thanks to Northampton opening and I am thoroughly enjoying it warts and all, roll on tomorrow night against the AcesšŸ‘

  46. I despair I really do. Simon Lambert & Eddie Kennett riding in the DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE for the Young Stars. The true lifestyles of Benjamin Button happening in real time

  47. I actually think "less is more"... The NSS holds the PCMT at the start of the season, featuring top level GP riders. This attracts a 2000+ crowd... They also then host two GP's with more than 3,000 Aces fans attending both nights.. The BF, no disrespect to it, is the equivalent of the "Football League Cup" when compared to the "Champions League" of the GP's... And, the League Cup is always a tough seller for the Premiership clubs compared to their Premiership matches.. Moving it around could give it a new lease of life...?

  49. This is fantastic news. Phil said ticket sales are poor, they need to hand out a load of free tickets and pack the place out then because this is a huge opportunity to sell the product at the best race track in the country. Makes a world of difference with a packed stadium and great atmosphere.
