Well I liked it, enjoyed the racing on a saturday night and most of all it was free to watch. Not the greatest meeting but it kept you entertained and some of the younger riders showed a lot of grit. This is what we need and I hope ITV4 put more events on.

I thought it was a decent evenings entertainment. Clearly not the usual broadcast team from the TNT days, more a budget broadcast team, but that’s down to ITV who were never going to throw tons of money at a one off production. However, I think British Speedway can give itself a pat on the back and consider it a job well done, rider presentations were on point, background promotional material looked fresh, the racing got better as the meeting progressed. The interviews were a bit ‘bumpy’ in places, but I don’t think it detracted from the overall presentation. More importantly there wasn’t any cock up’s!

Since it's such a love in about having the British Final on telly, I must say I thought it was a bit of a bore. 3 hours plus was well dragged out. Lambert was always going to be head and shoulders above everyone else. It was pretty much him against a bunch of Championship standard riders - some of them reserve level. Maybe if the format had been cut down to 10 riders or so (and Lambert brought along for some exhibition rides!!) it might have been better. It was probably not a good event for a live tv relaunch. Maybe should have kept that for a League Riders Championship or something. And there didn't seem be much pushing of the sport, i.e. regular (?!) league speedway across the country etc. And I didn't hear much about the bikes - 500cc / no brakes / no gears on a loose shale surface. But there was a bit of random stuff like - changing setups and changing coils. And there was just no atmosphere at all. So If I was new to the sport (as opposed to someone who started watching decades ago but gave up attending 8 or 9 years ago, even though I have a track about half an hour drive away) I don't think I would be bursting a gut to watch another one or try to find somewhere to watch it live.

This is something Nigel Pearson excelled at. Used to bang the drum for speedway and plug meetings at various tracks at every opportunity he could when he was commentating. Sadly missed.

Emma is ace. Alongside the GPs, she does work for Leeds United and also for one of the horse racing channels. Always bright, bubbly and professional. She does a mega job. I thought all in all it was a good product tonight, tv show wise. I do think a little more could have been done in commentary for anyone new to the sport but most of all… …someone should have said something along the lines of “If you are new to speedway and enjoyed this evening, there are speedway clubs around the county you can visit for the first time. Go on to the British Speedway website to find out your nearest track and head down there to experience it in the flesh.”

I guess going forward the British final should just be a match race between Lambert and Bewley. Sod all the other GB riders eh.

I suspect ITV were paid to show it, but regardless we want to get to the point where they want to show it. It may not have been the most exciting meeting, but that’s also how speedway goes sometimes, so for anyone thinking that’s an issue, I think it’s a red herring. You get boring matches in football, rugby, cricket… boring motor races, and millions watch people smack a ball slowly around a massive garden with sand dunes 😄 I think it was decent enough, although it did look like Olly Allen had been kidnapped at times.

Jesus Christ people you are watching speedway on ITV for free and they finally got a deal done and all you miserable buggers do is moan. Better turn your phones / laptops off and just watch the racing because your negativity is embarrassing somewhat. If you want to moan at speedway on ITV for the first time in 41 years go ahead, but don’t you dare moan about it not being on TV the next time around.

I know that it’s just my opinion regarding the credibility of the sport in GB.Have just watched Torun v Wroclaw where Torun had to use junior for Dudek which is how it should be.If you look at today’s result Middlesbrough using R/r for Jade Musgeway in NDl .Come on.

They don't need to ban anyone just say we will not use you if you do. He who's paying the most will usually have the final say.

Thought it was a decent advert for the sport, everyone played there part, Tatum, Allen, Emma, the riders....track was okay considering the weather we have had. Finished on time which will not of gone unnoticed by ITV. Racing wasn't to the high standard of Belle Vue but do you know what?!...I thought everything considered the sport portrayed itself very well. Fingers crossed ITV want a bit more of the sport, now wouldn't it be great if they covered part of the play offs.

It's more than that. The British Final is a clear indication that the "fast tracking" of Rising Stars isn't delivering in the Premiership. Rushen showed he could be the next to come through after Bewley & Lambert, but what else is there?? All those years of riders given Rising Star (or past equivalents) positions to have only Bewley & Lambert cut it is nothing short of failure. Could be argued that giving youngsters a job in the top league with minimal effort stop the hunger and drive to be the best they can. These kids should be hitting heatleader positions in the Championship on the regular before getting reserve spot in the Premiership. It's the only & best way to sort the wheat from the chaff.

The British Final being not as competitive is not a failure of creating riders now, it was a failure of creating riders 15 or so years ago. Charles Wright was the only rider aged between 31-39! 11/16 riders were aged under 26. Most grand prix riders are around 30. British Speedway actually has a decent future. Brennan and Flint ride in the 2nd and 3rd polish leagues regularly. Rushen and Cairns are some of the best U19 riders in the world. Maybe ITV will see the youth of the riders as a positive. Although, likely the viewing figures are the decider

Absolute joke, another rider from the semi final robbed of the chance to race in the British final because someone cant decide when they can or cant be bothered, the SCB should give him a two year ban, since he has trouble deciding when and where he wants to ride, let the decision be made for him.

Alright Gavan make sure you see a psychiatrist and get some meds you need it fella! Nutty as a fruitcake.

To be honest though part of the lack of interaction is down to demographic of the crowd. desperately need to get some young blood in to the sport!

Not a bad advert for speedway, although the racing was only average. There is quite a bit of room for improvement.... Camera work was poor I am surprised people like Emma Jones, she asks fairly dumb questions. Rory struggled at times. interviews/trophy presentation dragged on too long.

Think a lot of Redcar fans being quite harsh on your team in terms of throwing it away. You have to remember Ashfield generally creates a better home advantage in the second half of the meeting, home advantage race lines become more apparent to the Glasgow team and tried and tested bike set ups used sooner. Think credit to both teams for great night of speedway and a brilliant travelling support both in number and in voice. Another week where speedway was the winner IMHO.

Fantastic meeting... Wroclaw's obsession with riding around the outside on bends three and four was baffling... Would be a great final...

The British final field comprised three riders who double up between the NDL & Championship Leagues; in Scott’s case, RS in the top league as well. Ten riders who double up between the Championship & Premier League Two riders who ride only the Premier League One world-class rider who does not ride in the UK Conclusion: Yes, compared to the old British Finals, a very weak line-up indeed, but the BSPA have wanted to water down both leagues to make them as close together in standard as possible. Well, I think we can safely say that they have achieved that. So we can't moan at the quality of the line up. It is what it is.

...and therein is the potential problem - depending what it states in their respective contracts?!

We now know that Rzeszow join Pila, Ostrow and Krosno in the play-downs. we also know that Bydgoszcz can choose from Rybnik, Lodz or Poznan who they meet in the Play-off Semi-finals.

Charles Wright has earned the right regardless, Unlike Tom Brennan who was just given the wild card at this year's and managed a total points haul of 5 points over 2 days . Did nothing to earn the right for it.

To be fair though I assumed Gav would still be in his bedroom celebrating Danny King's 40th birthday!🤣

Overall, I thought it was pretty good. The size of the crowd did seem a bit disappointing for a British Final, but hopefully ITV will think about covering the event from now on. Good to hear from the younger riders, who I'm not so familiar with. 40 years, eh - we were blessed with great coverage for many years, and I'm thankful for that period.

When i was 16 i had a paper round a rubbish push bike and dreamed of being world champion ,compare that to young coops today,i hope to see him world champ one day i know he will i told him so at northside last year he smiled and we had a good crac,what a star.

Not often you get a meeting with no false starts,no falls,and no engine failures,just a shame the racing was pretty average.

So, serious question time. Do you think that meeting sold it to ITV or another broadcaster to take on the sport in 2027+?? Not for me, the meeting itself was just okay (Rushen the standout), it's a shame the gulf in the line-up was so far apart. Hopefully, ITV (or another free to air) decide on broadcasting the Premiership Play-Offs, it may give a better standard of racing for the sport to sell itself.

No complaints here, speedway on a Saturday night live on TV, Hopefully this is an opportunity that brings forth a new TV era and the powers that get on board and grab what is possibly on offer. It would be so good to see the sport live or recorded in 2027 on ITV 4. Fingers crossed.

If they do though Cookie I think the prem will have to be run at championship standard look at the problems with only six teams Leicester, Ipswich, Northampton all don't have a genuine number one, essentially 50% of the current league. Throw another two teams into the mix and again look at the Northampton team built on the scraps if Poole and Glasgow moved up and if nothing changes from a big financial injection into the sport in 2027 they would make Northampton 2026 look like Cradley 1984.

I take my grandson go karting at Rye House regularly and each time I do, I look in on the Speedway stadium with a mixture of sadness, nostalgia and anger. I spent many a happy Sunday afternoon watching some great racing. Its criminal what has been allowed to happen under the noses of my local council.

I am afraid that the council are spineless. Why have they just stood back and looked at a Stadium being illegally destroyed, and watched buildings being constructed without planning permission. They should of gone and locked the gates and put up a barrier to prevent entry, until a resolution has been agreed. I imagine the Council will just relent in the end to save a further long drawn out battle.

The council are not entitled to say "on your bike" because of things supposedly said to the owner on social media, The council are there to sit and judge a company that ignored planning laws and went ahead and ripped out, demolished and built on the the track and stadium grounds that they had no permission to do. The council have to decide if the company is required to re-instate the stadium to the way it was when they got the lease no matter if they have an intention to run speedway or not. If this has to be done (which we all hope it will be on a matter of principle) then the next thing the council should look at is to see if they have broken the terms of the lease and if so could they legally invoke a clause in the lease and make it null and void and take the lease back and issue a order for the tender for the stadium lease on the open market once again?
