Unexpected win today against the league leaders. Thought 44-46 but was delighted to be wrong. Some cracking close races with every point being scrapped for, which is how it should be. It takes two teams to make an entertaining meeting and Poole played their part so thank you. It was the Comets fantastic start that ultimately proved too much to overcome on this occasion which was nice after being put to the sword at home twice last season by the Pirates. Congrats to the mechanics, not one mechanical failure during the meeting. Thank you to members of the wider Speedway fraternity who turned up to show their support for the Comets, it was much appreciated. Let's hope we can get the message to more local people to give it a go while trying to improve the quality of entertainment on offer during the 2hours or so of the meeting. It was great to see the riders coming round today almost without exception when winning races. Congrats to the Comets on a solid team performance without exception- brill ! That performance was just reward for Andrew Bain who has had a tumultuous couple of weeks, thank you.5 points

im sure 99.9 % of people expected a poole dominant win but it wasnt ive always a lot of respect for poole in some ways always build a good team however some poole fans really let there team down very poor in defeat away defeat by a home side that had a lot to ride for and there wanting riders sacked even poole cant win them all5 points

Complete neutral bought the stream. Enjoyed the meeting. Hopefully the comets problems are behind them and they can move on. Be a great track for a British Final. Poole just never got going but sometimes it’s just not your day5 points

Glad to be proved wrong...a great team performance by the Comets team who all looked up for it from the start and all worked hard for every point. A good boost for the Workington management , staff and fans after recent weeks. Well done Worky.4 points

I think everyone's week was made when you got spanked at Ipswich 🥳🥳4 points

Haha heard it all now .. the heat being blamed on the journey up !!! As excuses go that is the best one I’ve ever heard…. I feel sorry for the Poole riders who obviously don’t have air con #airconforpoole Poole simply carrying riders .. reserves are probably the worst 2 in the league or close to it so when one of the top boys struggles it heightens the issue and Kerr having a mare…. Still Lawson and Rowe I heats 13 and 15 could mean Poole get something4 points
-
Lawson t/r. Pirates just not at the races. Wondering if the long haul up in the heat has had an effect but shouldn’t be an excuse. Workington on another level so far.4 points

All the best to Batch and the entire Worky team for a successful evening and for their continued success in the future. We cannot afford to lose another venue, particularly after the large investment and effort required to establish this one in the first place4 points

Update on Danyon Hume taken from the Danyon Hume Racing page. Hey guys, Just another update on Danyon, he underwent 5 hours of surgery on Monday which was successful and is now managing to take a few steps. The physios and doctors are happy with the progress he is making and in their words “Danyon is a warrior”. We both really appreciate all the messages/calls, we have received so much love and support it hasn’t gone unnoticed and I have read everyone’s messages to Danyon. Danyon will get round to responding to everyone at some point however he is concentrating on his road to recovery at the moment. Thank you so much for all the love. Jade x4 points

I think the Pirates got a little heated and confused with the left hand drive. 😁3 points

Perhaps Vinnie preferred to go to Northside. Much better track, than Wimborne Road.3 points

I purchased the stream doing my bit to support the comets from sunny Suffolk. Fully expecting a comfortable Poole win but I’m so pleased to see a decent crowd and a good home win with all the comets contributing.3 points

Workington people must have had a shock when they heard about the troubles, and it must be a wake-up call for lapsed supporters to get over to the north side and see how good speedway can be. No excuses, rally the troops and get the terraces teeming! You've got a superb speedway. Use it or lose it.3 points

There will be the NIDS travelling up but a truly awful day to travel with such a long journey and 34C expected. With a stream I would think hundreds will pay the £11.99 to watch and save a fortune on fuel.3 points

the main reason for mon/thurs prem race nights is for all the double uppers to be available one league would remove the need for that as has been said poland do what the hell they like anyway so let teams race when they want2 points

Seeing as how I love my stats, before today's match, 2025 averages. Starke 4.07, Foord 3.37, Ritchings 2.50. One bad meeting does not mean Starke was a poor signing, remember he was signed on an average below 4! I know Poole don't like to lose (who does) but this loss doesn't really cost them, they'll still finish comfortably in the top 4.2 points

Great win for Workington. In hindsight maybe Poole should have kept Richings as one of their reserves. 😂2 points

Well done to the Comets, much better on the day. Ian Brannan can go home Happy.2 points

What perplexes me most of all are the number of fans who followed the Comets pre 2019 some regularly away from home who have not as yet returned . It maybe just proves that if you get out of the habit a return is even less likely.2 points

I blame the big hole in bend 3 at Berwick for Edinburgh not getting the bonus point.2 points

if comets win bonus point i think half of comets fans will collapse in shock1 point

Was planning to come down but will give it a miss now. Watching a select Glasgow team doesn’t work for me anymore, guessing we won’t be the only ones.1 point

So much for the Poole fans, especially one, saying all season that Cairns won't be under any pressure1 point
-
Nothing to do with the crash. If the crash was affecting him he would back out of close contact and throttle off. He’s not done any of that. Just lacked track craft and slow.1 point

To be fair to Ford, most teams would settle for 5 out of their top 6 upping their starting average. I can understand some fans being frustrated, but it seems like Starke is doing his job, looking at his average. But i don't watch Poole meetings, so can only go by averages, and not the eye test. Start.. Lawson 9.17. So far... 9.86 Cook 6.23 7.38 Kerr 7.76 7.39 Rowe 6.11 8.43 Thomsen 4.41 5.45 Starke 3.36 4.07 Kerr is the only one, but is only 0.37 under his starting average.1 point

Certainly knew who he was supporting, very biased on the commentary1 point
-
No blame for young Cairns but as you say we can see where the issues are. Kerr showed improvement recently but went backwards tonight. Foord should never have been dropped for Starke, crazy decision.1 point
-
The lack of a press release from Lynn just 2 days ahead of a home meeting is truly pathetic A team (even if it ends up not being the one that races) has to have been declared so just go with it If there are any doubtfuls then say so - be honest, be transparent. That's what's fans deserve and should be able to expect!1 point
-
So far I'm well impressed with it for £3 odd. No commentary, so no prattling on, just the track noise, it's brilliant, graphics give all that's required. Ps, thanks for the vpn tip1 point

I think this idea has been mooted before but I don't know if Stoney has ever been approaced officially. Carl had a great following at Worky, even had his own fan club.1 point

You were saying about Tate? He looks to have been getting his confidence back in recent weeks and his style looks suited to Armadale to me. Obviously struggled on his first Armadale appearance but always likely to improve on his second.1 point

What everybody has to remember is every track has it's amazing races and rubbish races even the "best track in the world" NSS! 99% of the amazing races come from the best riders! Maybe BV fans didn't watch the 2nd GP at NSS when by the end of it was just a outside line track only with hardly any passing? It's the fact Ipswich was the ones making the passing tonight made it a rubbish track😂 UP THE WITCHES!1 point
