Oh get over yourself- the attitude of an handful of Ipswich fans on this form has been pathetic over last couple of years- constantly hounded about our track, fans and riders and giving a dig at every opportunity even when their teams aren't involved in it. Do I think most fans want to see Sheffield open? Absolutely. but with way the club has been lambasted by some i also feel there's some that would relish seeing the demise of the club i support. I'll leave it there. If people agree or disagree I don't care anymore. Outside speedway I'm a Wednesday fan so seeing both clubs you support potentially go to the wall is pretty draining.9 points

Matt Ford was someone well ahead of the curve... He realised that he could run 2nd tier Speedway using around three quarters of 1st tier riders... Thus charging less for pretty much the same product... Yet, plenty seem to moan about him....??? Maybe more Matt Ford's and the sport would be far more pro active and successful?5 points

The circumstances are different. Gusts, on the Monday, told Oxford he couldn't ride on the Wednesday. He then rode on the Tuesday but missed Wednesday, as promised. Silly boy Francis. Nagel missed a meeting on the Tuesday, then rode on the Wednesday. If he rides on Friday, I can't see a problem. If he misses Friday, then we can discuss potential bans. But not beforehand.5 points

I have never been in favour of reducing down the standard/quality of anything in an attempt to make it more attractive. It’s an oxymoron. The idea that you can simply share out the likes of Doyle, Sayfutdinov, Bewley, Kurtz, Holder, Fricke, etc, etc across a broader group of teams just doesn’t hold water. The first problem is that it assumes that all clubs in a combined league can afford them which is incredibly unlikely. Even in a 7 team Premiership, it is clear that there are clubs that have deeper pockets than others resulting in a significant gap between them. That problem will just be worse in a combined league as teams choose to ride in the Championship for a reason which surely is primarily a financial one. The second problem is that it assumes that the riders concerned will simply accept that they have to move on to a different team. Some may do, some won’t. Anyway, let’s wait and see what the exciting future looks like.4 points

Sheffields track is no more dangerous than any other, it’s faster for sure but its pretty easy to ride and only seems dangerous when dirt builds up on outside, jack holder- so what the sport needs villains, team manager, knows his stuff and winds up opposing fans, that’s his job, fans at least they create atmosphere especially the 2nd bend barmy army4 points

What strikes me is that this is a dumbing down of the prestige competition in World Speedway that is held every 3 years. Now we have the situation where a country with 2 good riders can qualify for the final of the top 4 rider team competition.3 points

There are 24 weeks from the beginning of April to the end of August to fit in 12 home fixtures. We have just come through a record breaking dry hot summer so no reason that fixtures should be pencilled in so close to cut of date. Especially with the SPON taking place this weekend & not the height of summer as normally happens. I am not blaming Sheffield for the weather but the club/fixture planners need to take ownership for the reason we are running league after the play off final teams have been confirmed.3 points

There were only 2 programmed races (15 & 17) with only 3 riders after Jeppesen's crash and withdrawal. OK a couple of other re-runs for d/qs but no different to lots of other individual meetings elsewhere.3 points

Hats off to Poole, no silly semi final/final races, that's how it's done. Congrats to Anders Rowe...3 points

It’s not a like-for-like replacement; it’s deeper than that. We took a risk when building this team and while it may still work, it’s cost us several times this season. We’re top heavy and that isn’t Max Perry or Freddy Hodder’s fault, but unless our top five are firing on all cylinders- which hasn’t happened on several occasions - then there’s more pressure on those two teenagers to deliver, especially the one riding at number six. Perry and Hodder have had a tough gig this season, but they should be proud. Next season, keep Hodder and compliment him with a stronger reserve.3 points

No, it is definitely not a joke. As I posted earlier, I lost my Track in 1964 and 1974. I am still very bitter about the way it happened, both in 1964 and 1974. You get to love a Sport and it is taken from you - it is no joke and certainly not funny. I sympathise with the Supporters with every Club that has gone, or will go to the wall. Even if Sunderland returned net Season, it is too late for me, I could not attend. It upsets me very much the way Speedway, our Sport, is shrinking. When one can see what has happened at Cradley Heath, Coventry, Peterborough, Wolverhampton, Wimbledon, Hull, Newcastle, Swindon et al - to me it is tragic. These were all great Teams years ago. I know I am getting on in years and some will say (not all I hope) that I am a silly old duffer living in the past. There is an old saying: "The past is another Country; they do thing differently there". Quote attributed to L. P. Hartley.2 points

Anyone saying Ipswich hate Sheffield need to pay close attention to this meeting! Ipswich being poor so you have a solid night and finish top of the league thus making Sheffield a very viable business to buy 😁2 points

If ever there was a night when 4 guests and rider replacement were required it was probably tonight 😂2 points

No, it’s well prepared and on the whole smooth and except for hitting the dirt line is not hard to ride, it’s not technical and doesn’t really have straights and although it’s fast it’s not really difficult to ride at speed but it takes balls to hit the dirt line so close to the fence but as I said they could take away that dirt line but the riders want it2 points

The NFL is a model they should consider. The owners all got together to share revenues and sponsorships to ensure all teams survived, then applied the draft to equalise competition and make the product more attractive. The results are there to be seen. From a struggling sport it's a multi million business. The owners were allowed to keep their own revenue from VIP and Hospitality sales2 points

At the end of the day we all know that Poland call the shots regarding letting their contracted riders ride over in the UK, no doubt his Polish side didn't want Emil risking getting injured again and missing important matches considering he was injured at Sheffield last yr, and as long as we keep playing second fiddle to Poland this will always happen simply as that if we like/agree with it or not.2 points

Glasgow look a Premiership team all ends up. Finances are there, support is there, and the club is extremely well run. It’s a top flight club. If they made the move up I’d expect them to be immediately challenging at the top end unlike others who have made the step up in the past.2 points

Regardless of what supporters of some other clubs might think of Sheffield, this sport needs this club. Hopefully they will have a buyer, but let’s face it, owning a speedway club will never be anything other than an extremely expensive hobby. Say what you like about the top hatted badge seller, but he will plough money into the sport and does not appear to be deterred by failure. As a speedway fan I see this as yet another kick in the b4lls for British speedway. Going on previous posts by PhilTheAce, he does seem to have reliable inside information, so hopefully there is a willing buyer prepared to take over. The talk on this forum is of possibly one big league next season. At the moment, one ‘who ever is left’ league would seem more appropriate.2 points

maybe the exciting new times is there will be an even better top league with a even bigger TV deal and sponsor money so the premiership can form an even bigger and better premiership with less double uppers and oxford want part of that but with the OG name cheetahs2 points

R87 is just a wind-up merchant looking for attention. Everything that he says is complete boll*cks and as someone quite rightly pointed out, he is a liar. The contradictions are laughable. Bizarre that he spends time on a forum about a sport that he continually derides and can’t be more negative about. Such odd behaviour.2 points

Very easy to say, until you have to remove another main body rider and bring in a weaker rider to make room for a stronger reserve.1 point

Have been for many years. Beth was filming/interviewing for the club's social media platforms. If you're that interested, her pre-meeting interview with Zach was on fb prior to the start. Very pleased to report that other broadcasters are following her progress....!🙂 NB. Especially for Gavan!! Quote: "Adam Ellis completed the rostrum trio and confessed that he had "forgotten how fast it can be around Poole especially when out by the fence" but admitted that it was good to be back at Poole".😄1 point

Rules for 2026, taken from SVEMO track racing FB page: New rules ready for the BAUHAUS league 2026–2027 Featured Image Elitspeedway Sweden (ESS) and the Swedish Motorcycle Association (SVEMO) have agreed on a new set of rules for the BAUHAUS league. The rules apply for the 2026–2027 seasons and are an important step towards creating a long-term and sustainable development for Swedish speedway. – In recent years, there has been an ongoing dialogue between the clubs to find reasonable ways forward to avoid more clubs ending up in financial problems, while at the same time we want to protect the sporting product and the opportunity to build Swedish speedway, says ESS chairman Mikael Holmstrand. This dialogue has had difficulty leading to anything concrete as the clubs' circumstances have differed greatly in recent years. At the same time, the league is now faced with the fact that a number of clubs have announced that they will have to withdraw from the series if nothing happens and a few more clubs believe that a "cooling off" of the economic development would be needed for the clubs to feel good in the long term. – We must act to protect the league and no longer have time to continue just talking. That is why this year I have sat down directly with Svemo and reported on the clubs' situation and opinions in order to then directly agree on adjusted rules together with the association. We simply cannot stand by and see the entire league jeopardized while the clubs' mutual positions are relatively locked, Holmstrand continues. The new rules aim to give clubs greater flexibility both sportingly and financially, while the focus is on strengthening Swedish speedway and giving more Swedish drivers the opportunity to establish themselves in the league. – The focus in the work on the rules has been to create sporting and economic flexibility where it should be possible to save money and/or be able to compete even with a slightly lower budget. In addition to this, we also have a responsibility for Swedish speedway in general and our Swedish drivers. Here, not everything can be done at once, but we have to start somewhere. The work has been characterized by compromises, but the ambition is that both stronger and weaker clubs will be able to develop and contribute to an attractive league. – It has been a very demanding job with a lot of emotions and thoughts from the clubs, which of course happens when compromises are made and everyone has had to give up some of their wishes. The stronger clubs will still have advantages from their status and position, which they should have, while the weaker teams will get some time to build their organization and finances, which is also an opportunity that we now expect these clubs to take advantage of. We have good examples to learn from in the league and when we organized the ESS board from this year by having all the club chairmen represent their club, we have received a clear boost in the dialogue and consensus, says Mikael. The new rules will create stability, development and new opportunities – both for the clubs and for the sport in general. – The rules for 2026-2027 will not do everything and the main responsibility still lies with the clubs' governance, but we believe that this creates a space that combines financial control while enabling more Swedes to establish themselves in the top league as well as allowing us to keep our strongest profiles and stars in the clubs to meet the sporting expectations of the public and sponsors. And regardless of what you think of the changes, we can be absolutely sure that the alternative of doing nothing at all would have been considerably worse, concludes Holmstrand. Review of rules for the 2026-2027 seasons Cut: – Ceiling cut: 10,500 (previously 11,00) – Floor cut: 8,000 (previously 8,500) Squad: – Max 7 drivers in the squad over 1.249 in their own (previously 8 over 1.000). – Continued 3 transfer cards – Simplify short-term loans so that they are counted on the starting average. – Short-term loans may replace all drivers in the team, including foreign ones, but replacement Swedish drivers may have a maximum of 1.249 in starting average. – 28-day replacements are written out of squads that do not make the playoffs – Only starting averages are counted on RR, 28-day, short-term loans, ceiling and floor averages as the squad is built from the starting average. Focus on Swedish drivers: – Swedish drivers with an average of up to 1.249 are not counted in the squad (2025: 1.000). – The team lineup must contain at least 2 Swedish-licensed drivers with an starting average that is a maximum of 1.249, which means that they start the season in a reserve position. – Official average is obtained after 10 heats run and placement in the team line-up is then done after running averages. – The driving schedule is adjusted so that the first nomination heat (heat 14 today) is removed and replaced with an extra reserve heat. – Reserve may be exchanged for the second reserve a maximum of 1 time and only when inferior by at least 6 points. Other notable rules: – R/R max 2 times during the regular season on Friday/Tuesday (4 times in 2025). – Entry averages from Ekstraliga are calculated with a conversion factor of 1.1 (2025: 1.0). – By 2027, an inventory of the number and averages of the Swedish drivers will be taken in order to possibly adjust the average limit for the two mandatory Swedes for the coming season1 point

One name that hasn't been mentioned is Chris Van stratten. He hasn't had a high profile since wolves closed so i wonder if he still wants to be involved? Wolves always seemed to be a well run club. But as a tigers supporter since 1967 I would just like to thank the Bates family and Driller man for some fantastic times and hope thet they will not be lost to the sort forever.1 point

Nobody knew that we were going to have a record breaking dry summer when they were planning the fixtures. From the start of the season to the date of the original fixture, there were only 3 Thursdays where neither Sheffield or Ipswich had a match, and one of those was the day before the British GP. I doubt anybody looking at the fixtures at the start of the season was concerned that a meeting in August Bank Holiday week was likely to be rained off.1 point

This answer isn’t going to be pc but the reason is on the whole the riders don’t give a hoot about rules like cut outs after a race or helmets on parade, if you see them away from speedway they are in the main just having fun and doing stuff that your average Joe doesn’t do and safety doesn’t come into it1 point

If i want to go to a meeting I go to the venue. What about those that are unable to attend a meeting for family or medical reasons? Nobody is asking you to spend any money on a "cheap and nasty production". I'm not aware that there are any available, anyway. You sound like a very bitter person who doesn't really like Speedway at all. But sensible people regard BSN as a superb service, which provides people with the opportunity to watch the sport they love.1 point

Well here goes the way forward for Speedways Future if anyone their is listening or interested. Yes this has been posted everywhere but will it make a blind bit of difference for the future or will it be the same old.💩 1. Leagues to be run on the Danish system of 5 rider teams with maximum of 1 GP rider per team. 2. Each team to name a squad of 6/7 riders. 3. Teams to run on their preferred night and if rider/riders are unavailable, National League riders to be drafted in. 3a. No guests under any circumstances, redeclarations allowed once per month. 4. North League; Belle Vue, Sheffield, Berwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Redcar and Workington. South League: Poole, Ipswich, Kings Lynn, Leicester, Oxford, Plymouth and Scunthorpe. 5. Teams having National League teams to stage meetings after main meeting with same format as Danish system. 6. Teams not having National League teams to stage second half with minimum of 6 heats. 7. North and South winners and second places to meet in semi finals and final. 8. League cup to consist of all teams and drawn in first round with 1 from North and 1 from South. Overall winners of each match through to quarter final with team losing with highest aggregate score to go through also. This is all fantasy, but something needs to be done now. Everyone to look at the big brighter future and get over themselves.1 point
