This Weekend Workington Speedway host two FIM events in the 125 cc class both events start at 3pm with the gates open at 1:30 pm . Saturday is the FIM Track Racing Youth Gold Trophy and Sunday is the FIM European Track Racing cup final. Come down and support these future world stars and witness some great racing, admission is £15.00 per day or £25.00 for a two day ticket, kids go free.

How long have many people been saying this for now? Almost every winter we hear "this is one of the most important AGM's we have ever had," yet, year on year, hardly anything changes. A tweak here or there, when a mass overhaul of the sport in the UK is needed - before it's too late. The clock is ticking.

Interesting read also in the Speedway Star this week is the Kyle Howarth interview, where he’s said even the riders are sick of racing at the same places 4 times a season and that alongside the massive fixture gaps is why he’s taking a break from it for remainder of 2026. It’s good to see a rider speak openly about the current position not working rather than speaking the party line of it’s all rosey in the garden. The one big league with 2H and 2A would give them more variety and also a decent amount of meetings to negate the doubling up that a decent amount of riders are doing. The promoters/owners need to look at the bigger picture here and not just what suits them, OK it might upset a few big hitters that want to ride/live in UK but can’t if go down one big league and team average isn’t a crazy amount, but they aren’t going to be around for ever and it’s not like there’s an influx of foreigners wanting to ride over here, so take the bullet now get a baseline in position for the sport and take it from there. If the one league doesn’t work out then can revisit alternatives but whatever have now just isn’t working for riders or fans.

Worst meeting of the season last night by the proverbial mile. Track looked very slick when I saw the track on entering. The track staff watered the track just before the meeting started which perhaps showed not enough had been put down during the day. It was a constant issue through the meeting and the water bowser struggled to keep the dust away. Racing wise it was rubbish. You could see riders busting a gut to pass but virtually impossible. Cairns and Rushen and Dan Thompson trying hard but getting nowhere. Cluff gated and sat there comfortably, having his best ever meeting at Poole. A shame as the place was packed.

So Scottish derby once again, Tigers were very lucky to get a draw in the Ashfield fixture. Guests have generally been awful for Glasgow apart from Dan T and Tate Zische. Losing Kyle has been massive but we have Nick Morris and Reid Battye , will the Monarchs have 2 guests also as Kye and Jordy had an off, each at Poole, Jordy definitely out with concussion, not sure about Kye, who is having a better of a season. With a regular Monarchs team , I would have them gaining the 3 points but I think it will be closer now. We need to contain Mitchell Cluff who has improved immensely over last few weeks, can gate like a scalded cat. Will be coming through to support my team, win, lose or draw. Ps hope we can get replacement for Kyle soon.

Everyone knows full well that what you see is what you get with Richard. You know that he's a moody bloke and you know he'll turn up with dirty bikes sometimes. Richard will score you points on a consistent basis but he will also bring a lot of baggage with him in the process hence why he's not everyone's cup of tea. As far as I'm concerned the entire blame lies with Mayfield and Paul Hurry who've allowed these situations with Richard to keep happening whilst doing nothing about it when they've had opportunites in the palm of their hands. 1st Opportunity -> Jason Doyle in a Triple Team Change (Was an always an easy three riders to release) 2nd Opportunity -> Adam Ellis in a straight swap (No brainer as proven by Adam's score tonight) Two title winning Witches, Two Golden opportunites, Two pieces of failure to act when the vast majority of the fan base have made their feelings crystal clear.

He is full of crap. I don’t believe half of what he says. If his wife and child is the reason he didn’t come let me know why he decided to wait until 17:50 to let the club know. And also, just to put it out there so everyone is fully aware, the riders and management of Ipswich were visually angry after taking his phone call to say he wasn’t turning up. He needs to be sacked, instantly.

He has his priorities spot on anyone else would do exactly the same. Speedway is not the best all and end all particularly if you have family.

I had a good night all-round. Admission is so quick with pre-paid tickets, crowd looked sizeable (programmes sold out!), fans enthusiastic (if you're the gentleman with whom my Australian mate in the Oz rugby shirt and I chatted, it was a pleasure to meet you) and, above all, some of the racing was excellent. It is so good to see Oxford revived. I wish them well.

So riders get a banned for going to get a scan for potential injuries or illness but riders are now doing drugs at meetings and getting away with it? What an absolute joke Uk speedway is these days.

But British Speedway still hasn't worked out how to encourage those watching the Semis and the Final to return for the standard league matches ...

UK Speedway is getting like my lads Sunday League Football team... ie. You wait to see who turns up before naming the side... I was having a bet on 365 then read about Lawson, lord knows what a multi billion pound business like B365 must think of UK Speedway, laying odds must be a nightmare... Still, as John Campbell said in the Speedway Star... Doubling up (which is self inflicted),, and laydowns have ruined UK Speedway.. Really?.... Finger on the pulse!!!!

Riders with Polish contracts, as it stands, cannot DU next season... And not too many of them will decide DUing over here is better than accepting a Polish contract I would suggest. Especially as the signing on fee helps them fund their racing outside of Poland too...

John Campbell article appears to have a feel of well if we the Championship don't start planning now who will and when. It is obvious Mark Lemon is desperate to retain the Premiership, maybe he has forgotten he rode in the Premier League back in the day. The article talks about 8 Premiership teams but then questions where the other two teams are going to come from as both Poole and Glasgow have stated they will be in the Championship in 2027. Apart from this there has to be doubts about the future of at least Sheffield at Premiership level, they have already sounded warnings of sustainability at current crowd levels.

Of course not having Thomson weakens the Foxes - he's the only reliable one! Will make things difficult but I don't rule out a surprise. Or a mauling.

All clubs could do with extra fans coming through the gates but I think the problems are much greater than not enough fans, the increased cost of everything including insurance, medical cover, shale etc plus riders wages . The overall structure of the League could also help matters with riders DU up or sometimes in three Leagues at times. Which clubs are doing well enough to stand without major help....Poole, Ipswich ? but even these clubs rely on plenty of Sponsors I believe but this is the case now in all sports. Scunthorpe for example get by with having Stock car meetings to off set the Speedway ( i'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) , so stadiums need to be used for other events like the Greyhounds used to be.

If that wasn’t the worst meeting recently at Poole I’d hate to have seen the ones that were deemed worse. One pass of note all night (Cook on Sedgmen in heat 7), massive blue grooves meaning that if you moved an inch of the inside line you went backwards and an embarrassing amount of dust for an evening meeting in low 20s temperatures. A real shame as the track can produce excellent racing and Poole have a team that can win just as well on any surface so quite why track prep is as it is baffles me

A statement surely has to come from Andrew not JD . My instincts tell me Andrew has not invested his life savings in producing a mighty fine race track and venue which he continues to develop to run practices and the odd meeting. British Speedway needs to reinvent itself. It appears obvious the fans are getting increasingly bored of the current format so it is incumbent on the promotors to bring forth much needed change. Where are the visionaries ?.

From the supporter of a Club of whom certain supporters scream libel / libellous and all sorts of other threats when pointing out their actual proven and convicted nefarious activities (with cameras) this comment is utterly disgusting and will be passed on to the family of the rider you are attempting to slander for their considered views.

They’re finishing bottom whatever so it makes sense to me. Neither Batchelor or Zagar are the future and neither will feature next year. Makes sense to get a couple in with a view to next season. Haven’t followed Ellis vigorously this year, but every time I check in and look at the Polish scores at the weekend, he seems to be top scoring and riding really well. I expect him to be a pain on Thursday, rides Foxhall really well.

To me that sounds like they have options for signings, but are happy to use guests as they feel they are stronger (perhaps not for long) and want to find the best rider available (obviously). So I don't see why the BSPL should grant am extension of the guest facility for Bowes in this instance. For a heat leader, I can understand clubs struggling for a replacement, but for a reserve, when there's options (Fredriksen, Bowtell, Morley) 28 days is long enough. But this should be for all teams, not just Poole.

Jordan has been declared fit, and more importantly safe to ride. First meeting… as a guest. Not a gripe with Jordan but with the system that allows a rider to miss meetings for their clubs. Then appear for someone else. How does that make sense?

Roll on 2027, Not bothered about the rest of this season now. Only thing I care about for the rest of this season are GSA's when it comes to Brennan and King.

Tend to agree but a Play Off semi would at least bring a few quid into the coffers An enhanced attendance coukd also encourage Mayfield as to what is possible if they get the product right

The sport is dangerous enough without unnecessary reckless actions being taken ,I was glad to see the back of NP and his ilk ,I genuinely cannot comprehend anyone wanting to watch a rider deliberately fence another ,the consequences of these actions often lead to significant and often career ending injury .I have no issue with robust riding or if a mistake is made but to substitute skill and ability with fear that you don't care for your's or fellow riders safety has no place in this sport .
