  1. 15 point max in Poland today for Klindt apparently. Obviously nothing wrong with him on Friday, it just didn't suit his schedule. Should receive a ban from GB speedway and Redcar should sack him!

  2. Bottom line is it’s not Speedway so who cares.

  3. Miracle recovery from Nicolai Klindt today in Rybnik racing to an unbeaten, 5 ride, full, 15 point maximum, must have flown over Lourdes on his way ✝️ Pulling moves like Michael Jackson while digging his start positions out at the gate with seemingly no ill effects from his knee injury 👍🏻 Must be a relief for all of the Bears' fans. 🐻🍵🍵

  4. Well a hard fought victory, thankfully. Solid performances from Jonas, Tate and Batch but what a meeting from Max Perry, looking so much better than he did on his debut and had plenty of speed. Pickering, sublime to watch as always, what a cracking rider he is. The scorpion that impressed me most was Luke. He seems to be getting better every meeting, great to see.

  5. It really is time for the authorities to charge Dale Allitt and Buster Chapman for bringing the sport into disrepute. Everyone knows they are looking at getting rid of Paco Castagna so are deliberately postponing meetings.

  7. I have no time for people who only want to play at being speedway riders, I am not trying to say that mental health isn’t important, of course it is but if you are having issues you shouldn’t be racing in a team sport where your lack of wanting to ride doesn’t affect anyone else. Same goes to riders who only try when they make the start and always pull off the track after two laps when at the back.

  8. This isn’t on the paying punter. It’s all on whoever signed him. I’m a bandits supporter and as sceptical as we all were most gave Cook the chance last year and actively supported him. I hold absolutely no ill feeling towards him as a person. He simply should not have been given a team place. The gym, motocross and his push bike seam to do his mental wellness the work of good. Speedway however just isn’t working for him anymore.

  9. Just do what I do and pretend there is no Speedway at King's Lynn... it works for me 👍🏻 They fell off my list of tracks to attend years ago. Been in the car park too many times as the meeting has been called off.

  10. Massive confidence boost for Nicolai ahead of the away match at Oxford 👍. Oh, forgot he’s not riding in that one either🙈

  13. I think it’s quite clear now. Mayfield want to try & move the sport forward both domestically in the UK & at gp level. They seem aware that they need to bring some of what Poland do to the uk but also that they need to work with the poles. The question is can they drag the BSPA with them or do Mayfield end up walking away in 5 years. I get the feeling this is really last chance saloon.

  14. And should have been done years ago, when the GP's and Poland took over.

  15. It’s going to be an interesting couple of years. It’s forward thinking people like Mayfield at Ipswich vs it’s our plaything like those at Lynn. The sport needs Mayfield to win out however I think we all know how this ends. The current promotions who have been around years win out & drive the Mayfields out leaving the sport to die out.

  16. Never thought of that, but would it be such a bad thing? Poland would employ riders, some would be on a wage and not ride. Would riders be happy with that, most want to ride and yes get paid well, would they just be happy practising and not riding competivly? As for the UK, we could structure a new league with the same riders we have, guys like Rushan would learn a trade over here then move to Poland. Not what we would want to see but would it end up with a business model that could keep the sport going in this country?

  20. The last race, a pretty much run of the mill 5-1, shows the difference between our version of Speedway and theirs . Over here? Virtual silence, apart from some polite applause, in a three quarters empty stadium.. Over there? A five figure crowd celebrate like their team were World Champions.... Any "newbies" over there couldn't help but get engaged...

  21. It's a little bit different but it is good to watch all the same. The racing isn't bad at all. This sport of flat track motorcycle racing has definitely lots of potential.

  28. A good point that I missed in my summary of why 70s top riders had higher averages. You hear stories of so-and-so being a top rider and always letting his junior partner have gate choice. Those were a rarity (if they existed at all). 99% of the time, the top rider had the best gate. And with no need to sit still at the starts, the referee would often allow the superstar to get a flyer.

  29. Isn't Gavan the town cryer? PS: Ipswich doesn't employ a Town Crier 😉

  30. Back in those days, bonus points were included in the Green Sheet Averages. This made a huge difference to averages. (remember there are on average 10 extra bonus points in a 15 heat match). Also then, matches were 13 heats so the top riders likely met only once in a meeting. Nowadays with 15 heats including a nominated, top riders will meet at least twice. And with the 4 top riders all meeting in heat 15, someone is going to finish with a zero and take a big dent on their average. In the 70s, a top rider would go into every race with a reasonable expectataion of finishing second at worst. Also back then, leagues had 16 - 18 teams. They met only once all year. Nowadays with fewer teams and fewer riders, teams meet more often, so top riders clash more often. If was also quite common to turn up on a Saturday night in the 70s to find Peter Collins isn't riding tonight or Ivan Mauger isn't riding, because they had a lucrative Grasstrack meeting in Germany on Sunday afternoon. So riders might even miss their only league head-to-head of the entire season. (with no internet. no one knew they were missing until they'd paid their money, and no one seemed bothered). With just one bike strapped to the back of a car, no lower end rider had the equipment to challenge a top rider who may have a workshop at the track. If you want closer racing with a more level playing field, and riders meeting more often, then the current day is for you. If you want a few top stars for publicity purposes with the top stars artificially inflated to appear more dominant than they are, then the 70s are for you.

  31. Poland really need to break the model and make their riders employees, it's the only thing missing from their business model and the day that happens all other professional leagues become amateur.

  36. I agree, but I never paid more than £30 for a ticket at Cardiff after the first year after I realised there was an excellent view of the track no matter where you sat and I think the last ticket I bought cost me £23!

  37. I dare say they looked at the finances/costings for one and it just meant losing money even with a sell out, personally I think it’s too expensive at Belle Vue full stop for one GP let alone 2. They kept ramping up the price at Cardiff each year and look where that ended up, supporters just ended up walking away or watching it on TV, TNT seem to be going that way as well. It wouldn’t be too bad if the racing was top notch but this years Prague GP was the very first since 1995 that actually had some decent racing and even some overtaking, I just thought it was me and the Glasgow promoter who thought the racing was actually important.

  41. David howe was poor, cost scunny the points, Pickering should have come in for Abliit heat 10 and Ace Pijper should have been in heat 14. MPT got excluded for going back into pits, was not aware of that rule, is it always enforced? Set up at Workington is excellent, a credit to the sport.

  42. With the exception of the meetings they'd previously lost, both teams entered this one unbeaten. Therefore, it was always going to be a tight affair. Good to pick up the win in the end. Watching heat 1, I thought to myself, "Richard Lawson doesn't run too many last places." Just then, he snuck inside Chris Harris to claim the 3rd place. With that in mind, come heat 15, I thought, "Richard Lawson doesn't run... no, I can't finish that sentence". A few seconds later, the clinching 5-1 was confirmed. There was mention on here earlier that Kyle Newman doesn't like sunny Armadale. All I can say is he's got a funny way of showing it. Quite honestly, he must be one of the most enjoyable and stylish visitors to watch. For a number of years, I would've happily welcomed him in a Monarchs team. Granted, it's highly unlikely to ever happen, given he lives down yonder but, hey, I can only but wish. Good to see William Cairns given his full name on the big screen (black mark for the programme though, which failed miserably throughout). Hopefully one day the impressive Mitchell Cluff's name will appear in full. I'm not buying into this Mitch nonsense. Roll on the second leg and another Monarchs victory...
