The ones who are confused are the BSPL and Poole!
Yes it appears that the name of Poole’s meeting is now being changed to make it sound like the Development Series and not the NLRC. But that’s not what they announced! How can the fans be expected to willingly attend a meeting and part their money when the authorities can’t even tell us conclusively what the meeting is for -

If every meeting was called off at the mere hint of rain then not much speedway would run at all in the UK. Sometimes it goes for you, sometimes it doesn't. That's the nature of a weather dependent sport in a country with generally unsettled weather. Forecasts are frequently incorrect and often different forecasters offer completely contradictory forecasts. Oxford gave it a good go last night and if the rain had held off for just another 30 or 45 minutes then the meeting would likely have completed without issue. That's the way it goes. The better question might be how can bikes or tyres be adapted to better cope in wet/icy conditions? -
It was down on the speedway gb site as the ndlrc championship now its been changed to the series.

By contrast, the track didn't look soft at all. It was hard and slick which unfortunately meant that the steady rain caused issues. Sometimes the weather goes your way, sometimes it doesn't. Had the rain held off for another 30 to 45 minutes then the meeting would have been completed without issue. Oxford tried their best and credit to them for that. If every meeting was called off at the mere hint of rain then not much speedway would run at all in the UK - certainly not during the current period of extremely unsettled weather! -

Before I start, I should declare that I am a long standing nerd who feels sometimes like the only person who really cares about race times and track records. I know this isn't really true but you know what I mean. On the subject of Sheffield's track record, I have often thought that it was appropriate that Ricky Ashworth would probably remain as the named track record in Sheffield's race programmes forever.
I wasn't aware that Jack had posted a new TR (and neither do Sheffield, apparently, as Ricky is still named as the TR holder on their website). But the discrepancy between the new official time of 58.92 and the 62.19 high edge says he has timed "by hand" from the video, is not a small amount. Can the video replay speed be a factor? I really hope that it's not a function of using transponders. -
Yes, but whose forecast? Look at the forecast for today, heavy showers across the country, Redcar are riding tonight, they could cop a heavy shower at anytime. Should they be allowed to cancel? Some clubs would and have in the past. I got stung at Scunny on Good Friday by an isolated shower that hit the stadium minutes before start time, sometimes you're just going to get unlucky and we as travelling fans have to accept that. But I do think more could be done by the authorities to streamline the decision making in such circumstances instead of us fans having to 2nd guess the promotions all of the time. In hindsight Leicester got it absolutely spot on yesterday and when a band of rain is crossing the country it's a much easier decision to make.
