I've seen video of the crash and if there had been an air fence, which were prevalent at that time, Ricky Ashworth would not have sustained the injuries he did. There's also video footage of the Zaine Kennedy crash, again caused by there being no energy absorption or dissipation by Scunthorpe's so called "safety" fence.

Yes there is a bit of Dis Taste towards Tai after last Season's antics from those Witches fans that travelled, and clearly heard what he said. But that's Sport at the Top level and as its been said on here by so many, that is Tai Woofinden, it's how he is. That has gone from Last Season, Sheffield won it coz we couldn't defend an 18 Point Lead and they are the current Champions. But we go into Monday with a Decent Septet, all be it with 2 Guests, but Good Guests to give Sheffield a right tough meeting. For me it will be close,as it should be from 2 of the top 3 teams in the League this season. And I would also think our Big Change at the top is close to being announced. So many Names been mentioned, and the wait can be painful for us Fans, but knowing how hard Chris and Ritchie are working to get the right man in, I'm sure the wait will be worth it. -
Ricky Ashworth highsided,, went over the handlebars and landed on the track... he didn't make direct contact with the fence.

Ricky Ashworth, Steve Worrell and quite a few more with broken bones they wouldn't have received at other tracks. Its not ‘the fence’ its what ‘the fence’ is attached too, ARMCO barrier and a earth mound, no give whatsoever, which is why the SCB Refs reports had the track rated as the worst for ‘faults’ in the country until the chairman changed the reporting system. Wonder why ? Dont get me wrong, the track itself always produces good racing but its outer fence construction, with steel beams sticking out and wire ropes is a joke for a speedway track. -
Yes, it is my opinion... I doubt that any energy absorption tests have been carried out at any of the tracks with their different combination of fence construction. It would be interesting to see those results if tests have been carried out. It's common sense that an airbag in front of a springy wire mesh fence is going to be a hell of a lot better than a foam bag in front of a metal fence in front of a solid wall of soil or concrete.

Ricky Ashworth didn't hit the fence he hit his head on the track, Zaine Kennedy went through the backstraight fence (No track has air or polyfoam fences down their straights). You really need to research before spouting crap on forum's
